    Usually I'm having trouble breathing, fatigue, and always too exhausted, so I talked to my doctor which she said I may have an iron deficiency and now I'm waiting for the test results before proceeding on to take any medication, but now I really want to do something after watching this video because now I'm so worried. Its been two weeks and no results yet

      @@Snick896 Wow I totally forgot about this comment, but yes I got the results. My blood came back clean. Nothing was wrong and my blood had an average amount of vitamins. This may sound like good news, but it was not because I was still feeling fatigue and terrible. Later on I recieved a message from my doctor requesting to check my heart using some machine. Lucky enough, they found something wrong. I have an enlarged heart which my Dad passed down to me. By eating healthy foods and exceeding I was able to stabilize myself. I don't know what your circumstances are, but remember to always be open minded and keep track if your family has any history of health problems. Who knows.

    Weight loss via GI surgery is usually done via gastric bypass which just cuts the stomach into 2 parts that both lead into the small intestine. There is the small section which is where the food gets mechanically digested and can only hold about as much food as an egg. There is also the large section with all the enzymes and acid so all the chemical digestion actually goes on in the small intestine. The pyloric sphincter in this case still opens about once every 20 minutes to let the stomach acid and the enzymes through. And because gravity does its thing, when iron gets into the small intestine there is still time for it to be converted and absorbed and it turns out that on one of the videos in jayalakshmi ks channel(either the coagulation disorders one or the macrocytic anemia one) that the guy asking the questions says that you only need 1 thing from the stomach and that is intrinsic factor.
    Anyway gastric bypass, the most common weight loss surgery, is not a gastrectomy because you aren't actually removing part of the stomach, just separating it into 2 parts.

    The statement that breastmilk is a poor source of iron, and infants less than 6 months of age lack iron intake is completely wrong!
    Here is what the book "The Iron Disorders Institute guide to anemia" says:
    "Iron-deficiency anemia is rarely seen in infants younger than six months."
    "In newborns and infants up to the age of six months who are of normal birth weight, iron-deficiency anemia is quite rare even though the demand for iron during this time is enormous. Right before birth, the mother delivers a huge amount of iron through the placenta to her unborn child."
    "Beyond six months of age, the risk of iron-deficiency anemia increases. Iron stores are decreased and must be replenished
    from the diet."
    Therefore, it is only for infants older than 6 months that risk of low iron intake becomes an issue.

    • @GrlRock
      @GrlRock Před 5 lety +1

      Angela Liu I agree, the only way a breastfeeding infant would be at risk is if the mother was deficient. Healthy breast milk should have everything a growing child needs.
