    I’m thinking that I should get some of these kinds of multimeters and do reviews of them when hooked up to my calibrators to check for accuracy…. Hmm I don’t think anyone else is doing that, I certainly could !

      The manual doesn't even claim that it's particularly accurate. So you could make sure it's within spec, but this definitely isn't something you get if accuracy matters.

    Got one of these meters today and I am happy to say it really is a great deal. I did check the True RMS function and its indeed very accurate from 30 Hz to 1KHz. The frequency and duty cycle are very accurate also. Its a very good all around meter and very worth the price of $46.00 USD.

    I like this meter, I bought one as its smaller than my other fluke or uni-t devices and although I wouldn't necessarily trust it for work it's a great little side meter that seems to be so far quite accurate. Love the big display and is only a tiny bit bigger than a phone, what's not to like !

  • @ElmerFuddGun
    @ElmerFuddGun Před 2 lety +11

    My quick review:
    It's trying too hard to look like a phone.
    Buttons on the top and sides that should be on the face.
    Flashlight on the back, again to look like a cell phone, is much more useful on the top where the NCV detector is.
    And the jacks on the bottom are annoying as you can't stand it up.
    Battery life won't be good with AAA batteries and continuous display lighting.

    Mine has an issue. I bought one based on this review also. I really like it , but, only thing I can't get to work is the frequency counter. Has anyone tried it and seen it work? I tried a function generator, and a 1khz scope calibration, neither show up as anything but 0 hz. I verified the ground and input leads were connected correctly . But...It will randomly show 60 hz (power line interference?) with nothing connected.

    It looks nice, but the smart features can be improved little. Not recognizing automatically the diode and slow capacitor measurement (for so tiny capacitance) is strange. Also the big color screen probably burn the battery's extremely quickly. If there was internal rechargeable battery will be greed.

    @krisea3807 Před 2 lety

    When the meter is in Smart mode, by touching both leads gives continuity which is fine. But when I move or touch the RED lead alone (tip is not touching anything) gives random
    resistance values from 0L to 99 M Ohms. This behavior confuses me if there is something wrong with the meter. Is anybody got this issue?

    So the led flashes to say which socket to plug a lead into but a smart meter would complain if you didn't plug the leads into those sockets. And who wants the temperature displayed on nearly every screen? It just takes your eyes away from the value you're interested in.

    After looking this I ordered it and got it delivered couple days ago. Seems robust and not at the same time. Lack of a dial is somewhat disturbing. However, this habbit could be changed. It seems accurate and fast when on V and Ohm. Ampers to be tested. NCV could be useful but it would be more sensitive IMO. LIVE function of it works fine but I can bet I would double check it with good old neon tester. Overall, I have a feeling that this one would be a desktop only meter. Good old digital one is still the number one. Hopefully I will be convinced through time to use this one on regular basis. Thanks for your video!

    I do like the large display. Shows up well on video.
    It looks like this one uses standard size banana jacks. Unfortunately the version I got uses the mini banana, which are much less commonly available.

    • @ElmerFuddGun
      @ElmerFuddGun Před 2 lety +3

      Full size jacks are good BUT they are still coming out the bottom preventing you from standing it up like most other DMMs. I think most of us use handheld DMMs on the bench and being able to have them stand up is major advantage.
      I saw yours. The batteries in yours should last a lot longer because IIRC yours didn't have an always on back lit display.

    hmmmmmm its a bit gimmicky isnt it. the delay caused by the auto function selection could make it frustrating in use, I think. and while the display is nice, they waste a third of it just showing what mode the meter is in.
    also you left it measuring several amps for quite a while lol, they usually recommend rather shorter high current tests. I wonder what kind of fuses it has for the current ranges.
