Derek Prince's testimony about overcoming depression and the helmet of salvation was crucial in my Christian life. I have a strong testimony on this. I was saved 6 years ago and lived under a curse of loneliness and depression. After I got saved I still suffered from this and the enemy told me I wasn't saved. Also, I had no hope that in the future the light would be able to overcome the darkness on this earth. (I have researched for app. 15 years into the darkness covering this earth, things like secret societies, hidden satanic agenda's, new world order etc.).
When I saw Derek Prince's testimony one day I kept it in my mind as in "I dont understand this yet.. but this might be a key for my healing and deliverance in the future". One day I was at a deliverance conference and in the midst of very heavy spiritual warfare. We had completed a 5 month program and this was the moment for deliverance. A couple wanted to pray for me and asked me "What can we pray for?" I said crying.. "all I can see is darkness to come in the future.. satan has so much power in this world.. I see it everywhere around me.. it makes me so sad and depressed.. I heard something about a helmet of salvation from Derek Prince?"
A supervisor who was listening instructed the praying couple: "Pray for that. Helmet of Salvation". They did and another intercessor who didnt know what we were praying came to me after this and said I have received a verse for you. It was Isaiah 43:1-3. "Fear not for I have redeemed you. I have summoned you by name. You are Mine." This verse was the wedding verse, in the front of my grandparents Bible, which I received after my baptism. This verse was the most important to me. The devil tried to steal the message afterwards over and over. "It was coincidence. You are not good enough. You will perish." I kept crying out to God and He kept confirming this verse in miraculous ways to me. One day I cried shaking "Ohh God forgive me.. if this is really You speaking directly to ne about my salvation.. please confirm again. I am ashamed to ask You but I need to know."
Two years later I miraculously received a wooden wall plate with Isaiah 43:1-4. The way I received it is a testimony in itself. I put it on my wall and send it to my aunt who had given me my grandparents Bible: "Look! That verse is on my wall now." My aunt replied amazed: "Today would have been the 75th day of mom and dad's marriage!" I said: "Today!?" God confirmed again.. not only with a note but a beautifull wooden wall plate: "YOU ARE SAVED. YOU ARE MINE. I LOVE YOU." I cried. He is more eager to answer than we are to ask. He choose the perfect timing for confirmation. The 75th jubilee of my late grandparents. Whenever the devil comes with his doubts and attacks now.. I point to that plate. The helmet of salvation is a deep inner knowing for sure that you are saved and the best is yet to come. It secures the mind against the burning arrows of the enemy.
Derek Prince also made me realise that depression is an evil spirit, and enemy. I identified with my depression before.. after deliverance I understood some evil thing had hold on me and it needed to get out.. once it was out I understood "that wasnt me! These thoughts werent mine!" In case of attacks now.. they come from the outside and not inside anymore and I am able to fight it in Jesus Name.. or let Jesus fight for me. I recognize the attacks now and learned how to battle. One of the ways to fight is to take on the garment of praise (worship!) against the spirit of heaviness. Isaiah 61:3. I also learned this from Derek Prince.
Important to note is that before I really got delivered and to stay delivered my heart needed healing too. A wounded heart by rejection was an open door to demons. I needed to overcome shame, guilt and selfcondemnation and start receiving the love from our Father as a medicine. Also gained insights in this by Derek Prince's teachings!
DPM has blessed me big time! And i tesitfy in the streets of how God saved, healed and delivered me!

I have struggled with depression my whole life, even as a Christian.
Recently the Lord has shown me, He keeps those who's mind is stayed on him in perfect Peace.

Your comment is actually a confirmation to me that I need to repent of my familial spirit. God brought this exact scripture to mind (Isaiah 26:2) as I have been studying and committing it to memory and I brushed it off as just coincidence when He did. I am struggling with depression so I look up this sermon and yours is the first comment I read!!!!!! Praise God!

A most timely word
"God deliver me from this evil spirit of heaviness, of depression in the name of Jesus", and God delivered me. My helmet is my hope and my salvation. That's what will protect my mind. Hope is a confident expectation of good. I had to change my whole nature of thinking. So The way I did it was, every time I got a dark, negative thought, I deliberately replaced it with something from Scripture that was positive., and gradually it became automatic.

Great message about HOPE. Some depressions are from lack of self-love or lack of self-forgiveness. God forgives us but sometimes we don't forgive ourselves. God loves us but sometimes we don't love ourselves. My severe depressions were healed when I meditated on Psalm 139:14 - I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
He asked God to deliver him from the spirit of heaviness and depression in the name of Jesus then took/put on the helmet of hope and salvation, thank you, Jesus. Amen.

One day as I cried out to Lord telling Him how I was tired of being dispised & rejected, He reminded me that He was dispised & rejected.
Somehow that made me feel better.

Derek can't hear you, he passed away .
His name is I AM. Yahweh in Hebrew. In John 3:16, He is the "only-begotten Son" (Gr. monogenes) of the Father. That means He's Deity (Col. 2:9)
