I have 2 holes at the bottom of my skimmer. The one closest to the pump is the one I connect it with?

Hello if you have both holes that are active because usually only one works. One for the skimmer and the other is aux. I would use the one that has a control lever at the pump so you can regulate it if needed. Hope this helps

You might not have enough suction, not enough hose length or the incorrect hose. If you are using the hose it came with and not sitting at bottom check to make sure nothing is clogging the vacuum. I have seen where you have to add a weight to the hose because it floats too much amzn.to/3y8k8K8 or there is too much air in the line. Hope this helps
