While, yes, I understand Chaos emeralds are all powerful godlike tools that should be used in the proper time and place, i also think as the series grows the emeralds have become more of an accessory than the primary force behind the story. If every story was a cataclysmic event reliant on the Chaos emeralds, the stories would get stale very quickly. I think Dragon Ball has also done this, where at one point the Dragon Balls were considered legendary and more or less the entire OG show was based on finding them, in which it took them whole season arcs to collect. But now as the franchise has progressed, the Dragon Balls have become tertiary elements that they use for a "quick fix" in any situation. I think moving forward the emeralds should just become an extention/responsibility of the main trio (like the movie) , and only be used in "break glass if world is ending" situations.

@@jettvalen7326 Makes sense, because the Master Emerald can straight up nullify the power of the Chaos Emerald. Also, the Thoughts Into Power thing can be a tricky thing since you can already do a shit ton of stuff with just ONE.
In sonic frontiers your right that the chaos emeralds are being collected for memory restoration but I think the emeralds will help sonic and friends return to their home because they arrive through a cyber space level. They might also help you in the final battle to defeat an otherwise unbeatable boss.
Turns out the whole memory aspect of sonic frontiers isn't really a thing just info from a bad leak the memories collected in frontiers are memory tokens as in computer memory for Sonic's friends
Oh no, it wasn’t a bad leak. The leak was real and was WAY back in late 2017. But Iizuka DID mention in a recent interview that the story underwent a LOT of changes through its development
To me, felt like Forces was building up to the usage of the Chaos Emeralds. It made sense with Eggman taking over, and Sonic's world feeling so bleak. However they were never used in the story, and were added in as free DLC. Which still confuses me to this day (and worst was the fact that it was going to be limited time). Also, I'm starting to think the Meta Era of Sonic is dying out. So, what should the next era be named? I think it should be called the Rebirth Era. Or maybe at least a title that is based off the idea of "a comeback or revitalization."
I will say the IDW comics have been filling in on that with a couple of things(Chaos Emeralds, Master Emerald, where the real Metal Sonic was) and if anything have been having fun as a continuation from Forces while having little to do with Forces besides putting the start of the comic on track.
First we gotta make sure this new era IS a revitalization. Just cause Frontiers is hype now doesn't mean it'll be hype on release, remember how Forces went?
It's because he already failed to take over the world with the emeralds. It's within his character to go after what he thinks is most powerful at the time. First 6 Emeralds ---> Master Emerald ---> Time Stones/Little Planet ---> all 7 Chaos Emeralds a dozen times again ---> Phantom Ruby
Definitely think Unleashed is my favourite use for the emeralds in-story. Having the story start with the emeralds already in Sonic's possession, and a core journey that revolves around returning them to where they belong, instead of hunting them down for their power, was a great way to add some strong environmentalism themes to the narrative without beating the audience over the head with those themes like the ending of Forces did. :)
Okay so….SLIGHT inaccuracy. But the source of the chaos emeralds’ power ISN’T the master emerald. The master emerald was created by gods after creation in fear of the chaos emeralds being misused, as they were present before creation. And the ORIGINAL idea of the chaos emeralds was that they were hidden in different pocket dimensions during Sonic 1 & 2. Why Sonic Team ditched that concept or idea, I have no idea myself. 😅
I kinda wish that can come back too. Maybe the Chaos Emeralds can hide themselves by creating the pocket dimensions around themselves when they sense someone seeks them for evil purposes. Maybe as something they started doing after Pachacamac and Chaos abused them to kill so many people.
I still like how the gods just sorta sealed the 7th emerald on south island to avoid them being in the same place ever again...because they made a civilization vanish basically over night. And then Sonic unseals the thing just because it may be useful in a fight.
@@Dr.Meme-Man They are, at least to a degree. Origins revealed that the only reason Sonic knew that there was a 7th emerald and where to find it was because the other ones showed him.
The Emeralds just do what the plot demands them to do. I think the Cyberspace levels are just manifestations of the person who enters them, created from their memories.
What if there was a story where it lead you believe that the Emeralds were about to be used as a Get-outta-Jail-Free card, only it doesn't work? Suppose Sonic can only use the Emeralds properly when he's in the right mindset, otherwise the resulting transformation is a dangerous one like Dark Sonic in X or Fleetway's version of Super?
How about this. As a baseline, in this game you got more characters than just sonic. Say tails nuckles amy shadow, maybe silver or a custom character if they do it right. And twords the end, sonic trys to use the chaos emeralds but ones a fake and that messes super sonic up makeing him go crazy. Not super sonic whoops the main threat like planned, but instead of turning normal starts destroying evreything. Then you gotta pick one of the remaining characters, chase sonic down threw two levels and deal with a boss fight where you knock him out
It was because of the leak that said it happened. Some people aren’t as clued up with the current frontiers news as the hardcore sonic fans. Some people still think that Chao garden will appear.
One thing I hate about the chaos emeralds, is that only male hedgehogs can use their power, meaning that retconned super knuckles and super tails hit harder than ever.
Bro imagine an open world and open story game where you can just find the emeralds around (they would be hidden obviously but like you would have to explore to find them and fight a boss to get them too)
Imagine a story where it starts off with everyone trying to fight to use the chaos emeralds. In the span of one or two scenes, they bounce around between sides and are used immediately. Until their power goes crazy and causes a catastrophic event and the whole game is about preventing it.
In forces if they really wanted to not use the emeralds they could’ve considered making the phantom ruby nullify the emeralds power, or have it where the custom hero uses the ruby prototype to assist super sonic who could be damaged by infinite
I think a good rule of thumb when it comes to the chaos emeralds should be, "If you took them out of the story, what would that change?" For cases like the adventure games and unleashed, trying to rewrite them without the chaos emeralds would make a much different story, so they justify their inclusion. But for cases like Shadow The Hedgehog and Generations, all that really gives us is a super form final boss, which just as easily could've been done without the transformation. It's only there to make cool stuff happen, so it winds up feeling less like Sonic is forced to rely on this rare instance of god-like power and more like he just won a game of Uno by finishing on a +4
9:30 You know, Fleetway’s Sonic the Comic actually does use the chaos emeralds in this sort of way. I mean, its version of Super Sonic is infamously chaotic, in a psychopathic way
It'd be nice if they showed us more of this "unlimited power." It's not the 90's anymore, they don't have to be used for just a double speed and invincibility powerup anymore
Like only male hedgehogs can go super? Or like doing stuff other already established gems do, like time traveling? Or like how they do just whatever they whenever they want?
I’m gonna just bring this out now. Since Sonic Colors all the way to Sonic Forces, the developers that SEGA hired to work on those games knew like nothing about Sonic other than a few cutscenes on Wikipedia. So basically they would of course miss a lot of opportunities because they don’t really know Sonic. That’s why Sonic is all “BALDY NOSEHAIR!” instead of his quote in Unleashed, “Do I need a reason to help out a friend?” Sonic in Sonic Unleashed was cocky but he’d also help anyone for no reason because he’s the hero and a good guy. The Sonic Colors to Sonic Forces Team did not know that at all and we got a cheesy Sonic who tries too hard to be cool to the point that it’s not cool. That group of people however is gone now. They aren’t gonna be around for Sonic Frontiers. Good riddance. With them gone I actually have hope Sonic Frontiers will be a great game! 😊👍😎💖
No game of the meta Era could ever match "It was never about chivalry for me. I just gotta do what I gotta do. That's all." Black Knight was something else man...
He literally only said blast nose hair three times and u act like thats a bad thing when sonic said cringe shit all the time and deadass what does baldy nose hair have anything to do with do I need a reason to save a friend when that was two different scenarios with two different themes
@@goddessyamato5238 It was just an example of why I prefer Jason over Rodger. Jason also had more influence on people too. In Sonic And The Black Knight, He tells the Shadow Queen that as sad as the fact that we will all pass on, he says we should make the best out of the time we have in our lives. This was before Sonic's Friends became just Cheerleaders who in other situations are absolutely useless and insignificant to Sonic that wouldn't be too different even if they weren't present in the game at all.
Give the chaos emeralds a more important role in the story, and make using them not without its risks? You know what, I'll take you up on that theory. Something I'll be doing at some point in the future is rewriting the different Sonic stories we've gotten. One of them will be Forces. This will be a neat opportunity to potentially uncover that game's hidden potential.
7:10 It isn't _again,_ it's the same case of amnesia as in Heroes. It's just that he stopped caring at the end of Heroes, and all of a sudden became angsty about it again in Shadow 05. 7:50 Didn't Black Doom use Chaos Control at least once? 12:10 Turns out the in Frontiers, the Emeralds don't actually have anything to do with Sonic's memories. It's more about having visions of a previous civilization, a la the Tikal visions in Adventure.
@@ghostly4235 much like the master emerald, the phantom ruby has the ability to “turn of” or bypass the super sonic invincibility aura. This can be seen during Mania once the phantom king got his hands on it during the final boss. He grew so powerful that super form wasn’t enough to keep Sonic from getting hurt.
ehhh i'll be blunt its a little early to see how Frontiers uses the chaos emeralds exactly. After all the true factual thing we got out of interviews is the fact that team sonic got concerned the chaos emeralds went missing and went to investigate.
I actually like how their disappearance after Generations is being used as the plot of Frontiers. I think it means even Sonic Team is aware of that problem 😅
So, now I’m supposed to hate Sonic Frontiers because it uses the chaos emeralds to help Sonic with his memories? No thanks. I’ll play the game for the gameplay before I complain about anything else. I play a game if it’s fun. If I want a story told to me, I’ll watch a movie. I often ignore the story outright in a game unless I’m curious about something. Dark Falz got me curious, so I pay attention to the story there to get an idea as to what this thing is, and why it attacks planets. Arcade games are great in that regard. No one cared about the story, the game was just fun. My idea of fun, running at high speeds, and taking our enemies like a badass. Boost? Meh, it’s alright. Actually using martial arts attack? Count me in! That sounds awesome!
In Sonic Adventure 1 they were going to make Super Sonic available outside the final battle and took it out the game but data miners found dialogue that explains it.
Sonic has not lost his memory in Sonic Frontiers. He still remembers Amy, the Chao Garden, Tails, and so on. He has to go through these Cyberspace Stages to rescue his friends. He hasn't lost his memory.
@@Zorinox bro that's what the creators said, you can't just say no when they made the literal story, honestly he might not remember them at the start but as he goes through cyberspace he gains memories of them, i mean it honestly looks like he's not even in a physical dimension in this game, everything loks digital so I'm curious as to of that has effected his memory

I honestly believe that Metal Sonic would have won in Sonic Heroes if they didn't have the emeralds on hand in that moment. The gang wouldn't be able to solve this problem with their own abilities because Metal Sonic spent the entire game copying/stealing their abilities, Chaos' powers and ALL of Eggman's resources, while Eggman was locked in a closet. The Chaos Emeralds not having any story presence prior to that final encounter with Metal Sonic only really puts this game's usage of them on par with the classic games in the series, beat game, no emeralds? No Good End! The only difference is that Heroes doesn't give us a Bad End with Metal Overlord curb stomping everyone before telling us to grab the emeralds and come back later.
Actually Sonic Heroes is one of those games where you CAN'T BEAT THE GAME without the Chaos Emeralds (Sonic Adventure 1&2; Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Generations for PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 also can't be beaten without the Chaos Emeralds, but they're given to you, so those games don't count). Like Sonic Rush, Sonic Heroes only has ONE ending, and that's in the Last story, ALL four team "endings", are fake! You need ALL the emeralds to BEAT the game. Thank God those special stages in Sonic Heroes are easy, otherwise the game would be unbeatable to this very day.
Actually, in Sonic IDW, they did beat Metal Sonic without using the Chaos Emeralds, but it took EVERYONE to bring him down, careful coordination and a TON of luck since they were getting pummeled to a paste (Sonic, Knuckles and Shadow specifically) The only "Super Form" used was Burning Blaze and that didn't last long enough to fight Metal
@@RobinSplats Sonic IDW?! Is that a fan game? If so, then I won't talk about it (since I don't play the fan games). I only play Sonic games in the MAIN series.
@@starscotten It's a comic book series that takes place after Forces, Ian Flynn is trying to make it work with what he's got and so far it's paying off
Hearing more about how the Chaos Emeralds in their current state hinder the series' storytelling, I can't help but wonder what if the Emeralds' powers worked more like D&D's Wild Magic; where using them had a chance of causing a random effect beyond the user's control, ranging from beneficial, to annoying, to downright devastating for either the user, or the enemy target. That unpredictability alone could help add some risk to the Emeralds, reserving them as more of a "Last Resort" option.
In some old Sonic comics the chaos emeralds would make Sonic super powerful but as a consequence they would turn him evil in his super form so Sonic would only use them as an absolute last resort. I think that's what they should do.
Well, with the use of chaos emeralds in terms of story, it could be used as world building in the case of Unleashed the gaia are used as power source for the sections of earth and having Sonic and Chip to have a world adventure having the duo explore different lands and cultures, and in Frontiers its same as unleashed with world building in starfall island and and as well as having a mysterious backstory on where they actually came from.
The Reason the Chaos Emeralds are needed so much is because the Super Forms are locked behind them. If Sonic & Shadow were able to access the forms another way we wouldn't have gotten them at all in several games. Of course they even appear in games without the Super Forms like Sonic 1 & quite a few gamegear games. This video entirely fails to realize that.
10:54 The funny thing about this is that they basically did this in the comics, except it was teleporting the Metal Virus, instead of teleporting the sun. They could have used the chaos emeralds in the EXACT same way they did in the comics.
12:03 "to again, regain his memories-" I'm pretty sure that it was to fight the titans, not to regain sonic's memories in frontiers. *Btw I know this is an outdated video about frontiers but still it is funny to look back at frontiers theories before the game came out*
Lets talk about in Shadow The Hedgehog you find the first Emerald just laying around in the street, and as for some reason A GIANT GEM, but nobody is minding it at all?
I kinda want a Sonic game where a completely new character finds the chaos emeralds and uses it for their own purposes, while Sonic team and Eggman fight expecting the other has them. Only to later learn someone else has them and caused a problem or created some big evil, intentionally or unintentionally. Then possibly Sonic takes them and becomes Super Sonic to defeat them. It would keep Chaos Emeralds story related but also give reason why they're never used until the end.
I like how they were used in Sonic frontiers first off nothing to do with memories and like the only way to stop the titans not the best use but not the worst
I think it'd be fun to see a sonic game where Sonic actually has to learn how to use the Chaos Emeralds. "But what about Super Sonic and Chaos Control!?" you might wonder. Well here's the thing: Sonic never learned to actually use the power of the Emeralds with any proficiency. He used Chaos Control in a moment of fear and desperation of his own death the first time around, and after he got Super Sonic for the first time in the early days the form was knocked right outa the little hedgehog. By who? By Knuckles! The guy who's cultural traditions(and their failures in the past) lend himself well to knowing how to use Chaos power with respect (or at least knowing how to wreck it from seeing him beat the bricks outa Super Sonic). Even Eggman was able to rip the Emeralds out of him once and could likely do it again. So what about a game where Sonic learns to master Chaos energy? Maybe he can go off training with Knuckles and Shadow in order to combat another threat that knows how to use Chaos energy for his own evil deeds. Just a big ol' roadtrip between 3 rival goons that all want to better their own abilities.
Well the sonic frontiers sonic lost his memories thing in not actually true, we've seen in a cutscene he does remember stuff, some of the cyberspace stages are based or tied of his memories
That intro sounds like Mario but i cant really put my finger on it… dope vid too the chaos emeralds were always something that seemed complex and convoluted
I miss it when the chaos emerald were hidden away in special zones instead of just being all over the place where literally anybody could just easily get one
kind of a stretch to bring up the name of the emeralds, especially since the majority of the main games aren't written by english natives. Remember when Yuji Naka wanted to make a zone called "Genocide City" because the word sounded cool? Yeah, he backed out of that after finding how that genocide isn't some cool word in the english dictionary. That kind of language borrowing is very common in Japanese stories as a way of making thing look cooler to japanese audiences. Even Sonic says random english and spanish words in the original japanese dubs of his games.
Would a good way to use the emeralds would be to have the super forms behave like fleetway super sonic? I'm not sure about it being perfect as Fleetway super was 100% evil but it could work if they don't make the user fully evil and maybe make them a bit unpredictable/unhinged.
I think the Chaos Emeralds should get new abilities depending on how many are being used. This is what I’d imagine the powers being. 1 Emerald: Chaos Control 2 Emeralds: Time Travel 3 Emeralds: Enhanced Strength 4 Emeralds: Cloning 5 Emeralds: Super Shield 6 Emeralds: Instant Regeneration 7 Emeralds: Super Transformation
How do they even find any emerald? They don't have the dragonball radar. If each of them have infinite power WHY make a machine that requires all of them? Why infinite times 7 is a thing?? Also I remember in Shadow tH the Devil says Shadow was created so he would gather the emeralds for him, that was the bargain. I found that one very neat piece of information would explain why Shadow seems to have a connection with the chaos power and the emeralds. But I don't know if it is ever explained or even brought up again.
I feel underused is a bad word to use for the modern Era of Sonic. I think it would be better said that they are underutilized. What personally bothers me the most about the Chaos Emeralds in this Era is that we've actually gotten some of the best supplemental lore about the Emeralds within this time frame in such overly subtle ways. Sonic Colors DS made the implication that Chaos Emeralds can negate the effects of draining the Hyper Go-On energy from the Wisps with the Mother Wisp fight, the Chaos Emeralds have been used to put the planet back together before implied by the progression of Unleashed (the "Seven Lights of the Earth" as Chip called them,) and Sonic Rush Adventure straight up confirmed that both the Sol and Chaos Emeralds have a will of their own. Those are JUICY lore tidbits about all powerful chaotic shiny rocks, and as you mentioned, most of the mainline past Adventure 2 doesn't take full advantage of any of that.
My problem with them is that they don’t have a limit they could teleport make wishes stop time make portals seek monsters stop you and if you can handle energy it will last for a very long time for an example sonic survived sa2 because he had used the emeralds a lot more than shadow so more experience
The importance of chaos emeralds FINALLY return (which is what ALOT of fans wanted) & you’re sitting here saying how they are a problem??? They haven’t been in stories for a while. This video shouldn’t have been uploaded. You have A LOT of “facts” wrong.
For "long" is like literally two games behind with mania. The chaos emeralds just do whatever they want (even things other already established gems do, like time traveling.) , and that's why many people dislike. Beside the whole fact that only male hedgehogs can go super.
Watching this has me curious on whether the emeralds will be tied to the story in frontiers. I mean we know that Sonic will use them to fight the titans but will the villains in frontiers actually want to use them for some purpose. It makes me want the game to release sooner so we can uncover the story.
Actually using the chaos emeralds do come with a cost as it drains your energy (in the form of rings). (Oh god I can feel the nerd and clown emojis coming)
@@sonicwithglasses131 me too, don't get me wrong I love op characters, it is just that I like suspense and those moments where the person is knocked out then all of the sudden the open their eyes and go like " I'm not done just yet!" or whatever. But Sega balance it out a little
I mean, dark story of SA2 revolved around the chaos emeralds. The eclipse cannon couldve wiped out the whole earth with the power of the emeralds. While eggman wanting to rule the world, shadow is the one who came up with this idea and wants the world to burn with the power of the chaos emeralds.
There could be an agruement about the chaos emeralds in shadow the hedgehog because its the sole reason why blackdoom came to earth (fun fact black arms was already foreshadowed in adventure 2) and had shadow made beside the Maria stuff
Also, the emeralds have no set power set or limitation. I don't want them to be infinity stone replicates but like, what's the difference between one emerald and all seven if each holds infinite power? Maybe if each one did something in particular and they had actual rules to using them rather than just being a shiney make a wish foundation, there would be actual stakes to using/collecting them
The thing about Black Doom and the Emeralds, he wanted to used the emeralds to warped the Black Comet to earth. The reason he left the because he thought that's all they were good for and he didn't needed them anymore, Black Doom stated himself in the final boss that he underestimated the true power of the emeralds
Knuckles is actually a terrible guardian. The only occasions we have seen the emerald in danger, he’s either had it stolen or destroyed it. Now he just doesn’t even look after it. He’s given up. He doesn’t care anymore.
The fleetway line of comics had super sonic be an alternate personality within sonic that would gain control and simultaneously become crazy due to use of the chaos emeralds excessive power,if they brought back something similar like super sonic being extremely destructive and causing massive collateral then it would give both a reason for the chaos emeralds to be used in some situations/games but not the smaller adventures that sonic goes on
There should be a game that focuses solely on the emeralds, their usage, and their origin. It temporarily fixes the problem of the emeralds being a cop out and cheap ending and allows them to retcon or fix their inconsistencies
I would love to see a story where any villain uses the emeralds and Sonic and his friends obtain some super form without the emeralds and best the villain and the whole purpose of finding the emeralds is to keep it out of the villains hands more than a get out of jail free card for themselves, kind of like Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone.

@@Masterplanfoiler when he says mother, that’s basically implying that it’s the boss, it’s in control, it’s the alpha, it’s the emerald to rule all emeralds…
I don't think it's as simple as that... I mean, you DO know you'll probably be able to unlock Super Sonic from the first island alone?
Maybe they’ll utilize the master emerald for a strengthened form. Kinda like how the master sword can be buffed
@@isaiahwhite7304 the master emerald has no need if it does appear in the game it’s literally just fan service

@@HaHaHaHolowence thank you for the correction it was a complete accident.
@@Dr.Meme-Man well they did go through a few revisions I suppose that makes sense
The Renaissance Era of Sonic
I will say the IDW comics have been filling in on that with a couple of things(Chaos Emeralds, Master Emerald, where the real Metal Sonic was) and if anything have been having fun as a continuation from Forces while having little to do with Forces besides putting the start of the comic on track.
First we gotta make sure this new era IS a revitalization. Just cause Frontiers is hype now doesn't mean it'll be hype on release, remember how Forces went?
the catholic era
It's because he already failed to take over the world with the emeralds. It's within his character to go after what he thinks is most powerful at the time.
First 6 Emeralds ---> Master Emerald ---> Time Stones/Little Planet ---> all 7 Chaos Emeralds a dozen times again ---> Phantom Ruby
Dude the dark era may be overused but they are hella good
Definitely think Unleashed is my favourite use for the emeralds in-story.
@@DangerousArmyGuy probably, yeah!
Though that would imply that the Chaos emeralds are sentient in a way.
@@lpfan4491 maybe the gods should be pissed at Sonic and try to kill him in a future game

I still have no idea why people think sonic lost his memories in frontiers
They said "sonic doesn't know what to do" not forgot what to do
It was because of the leak that said it happened. Some people aren’t as clued up with the current frontiers news as the hardcore sonic fans. Some people still think that Chao garden will appear.
this man came up with a idea that teams of people couldn't come up with. to gamble with the power of the chaos emeralds i like the idea
One thing I hate about the chaos emeralds, is that only male hedgehogs can use their power, meaning that retconned super knuckles and super tails hit harder than ever.
sonic superstars fucked this theory up😭🙏
Bro imagine an open world and open story game where you can just find the emeralds around (they would be hidden obviously but like you would have to explore to find them and fight a boss to get them too)
ACTUALLY my question is; "Shadow the hedgehog had the chaos emeralds in it?"
Well thats where the "Where's that DAMN fourth chaos emerald" comes from
Of cause it did.
The main villains end game is to jack up his Chaos control to teleport his home base onto the planet to take over.
The whole point of the game is to collect them.
Have you even played/watched the game?
Imagine a story where it starts off with everyone trying to fight to use the chaos emeralds. In the span of one or two scenes, they bounce around between sides and are used immediately. Until their power goes crazy and causes a catastrophic event and the whole game is about preventing it.

Wow, what a strange guy, who could that be I wonder?
i know, he makes some good stuff
@@Nativefall Dude I wish I could talk with him, he seems like a chill guy
In forces if they really wanted to not use the emeralds they could’ve considered making the phantom ruby nullify the emeralds power, or have it where the custom hero uses the ruby prototype to assist super sonic who could be damaged by infinite
6:43 slight correction, all the other endings and storylines are canon.
The Phantom Ruby is just outright stated to be above the Master Emerald.
Yea they’re canon just take place in a different parallel universe/timeline
No it isn't. Eggmam needed cause he it created clones not that it was more powerful.
Also Super Sonic also beat Phantom Ruby amped opponents easily.
I love your vids keep up the good work
I think a good rule of thumb when it comes to the chaos emeralds should be, "If you took them out of the story, what would that change?" For cases like the adventure games and unleashed, trying to rewrite them without the chaos emeralds would make a much different story, so they justify their inclusion.
To me the chaos emeralds are a prize to get in the games and in stories to be a helpful tool to help the heroes in the end
nahhh the chaos emeralds are amazing to sonic's lore
Like only male hedgehogs can go super? Or like doing stuff other already established gems do, like time traveling? Or like how they do just whatever they whenever they want?
It's like the chaos emeralds have become the plot armor in some if the games.
Knuckles can't just leave the master emerald shattered because it needs to be intact in order for its power to keep Angel Island floating
plus, the Master Emerald's entire job is to keep the Chaos Emeralds in line and it cannot do that while in pieces.
That's all."
Black Knight was something else man...

12:10 Turns out the in Frontiers, the Emeralds don't actually have anything to do with Sonic's memories. It's more about having visions of a previous civilization, a la the Tikal visions in Adventure.

@@ghostly4235 much like the master emerald, the phantom ruby has the ability to “turn of” or bypass the super sonic invincibility aura.

ehhh i'll be blunt its a little early to see how Frontiers uses the chaos emeralds exactly. After all the true factual thing we got out of interviews is the fact that team sonic got concerned the chaos emeralds went missing and went to investigate.

I think it means even Sonic Team is aware of that problem 😅
@@Dr.Meme-Man it’s not a problem the emeralds damn near been in every game. It’s only five games to where they wasn’t apart of the plot
Great video, and I heavily agree.
9:23 - That point makes me think of Fleetway Super Sonic. Really putting the "Chaos" into Chaos Emeralds.
Lul
Sonic has not lost his memory in Sonic Frontiers. He still remembers Amy, the Chao Garden, Tails, and so on. He has to go through these Cyberspace Stages to rescue his friends. He hasn't lost his memory.
Yep
The creators said that his memories are lost and he needs to regain them, the levels are mashups of his memories as they're jumbled up in his mind
If his memories are lost, *THEN HOW DOES HE REMEMBER HIS FRIENDS?* Seriously, man, *THINK.*
@@thebrownboi5443 Dude, just… look. He asks this… entity… if he’s able to rescue his friends before he rescues any of them. I think. So he does remember things. Also, where did you even hear/see them say that? I need some source of information. Oh, and also, I’ve already started an argument. Do *NOT* keep this one going.
Eggman literally said that.
@@starscotten It's a comic book series that takes place after Forces, Ian Flynn is trying to make it work with what he's got and so far it's paying off
Your intro was funny so I subscribed
"Oh no water man is mad" idk why but thats hilarious
10:54 The funny thing about this is that they basically did this in the comics, except it was teleporting the Metal Virus, instead of teleporting the sun. They could have used the chaos emeralds in the EXACT same way they did in the comics.

Awesome video.
“All the best Sonic stories have to do with the Chaos Emeralds”.
Me: But Black Knight exists???
I kinda want a Sonic game where a completely new character finds the chaos emeralds and uses it for their own purposes, while Sonic team and Eggman fight expecting the other has them. Only to later learn someone else has them and caused a problem or created some big evil, intentionally or unintentionally. Then possibly Sonic takes them and becomes Super Sonic to defeat them.
It would keep Chaos Emeralds story related but also give reason why they're never used until the end.
DBZ references?
In my Sonic? NO WAY.
The franchise with a blonde golden spikey hair transformation.
I still wonder why The Chaos Emeralds weren’t used in Sonic Force’s story.
Music used?
It would be interesting if each emerald created a chaotic avatar due to the use and abuse of power, a Chaos situation
i will not take this shadow the hedgehog slander
Well the sonic frontiers sonic lost his memories thing in not actually true, we've seen in a cutscene he does remember stuff, some of the cyberspace stages are based or tied of his memories

That intro sounds like Mario but i cant really put my finger on it… dope vid too the chaos emeralds were always something that seemed complex and convoluted
We thank Yūji Naka that in a big part of the games the Emeralds are used to unlock the non-canonical ending and that in others there are none.
4:23 _wait a second-_
OMG you’re so right
Why is Knuckles alone without any chao on the island, and cream just has one?
Would a good way to use the emeralds would be to have the super forms behave like fleetway super sonic? I'm not sure about it being perfect as Fleetway super was 100% evil but it could work if they don't make the user fully evil and maybe make them a bit unpredictable/unhinged.
I think the Chaos Emeralds should get new abilities depending on how many are being used. This is what I’d imagine the powers being.
1 Emerald: Chaos Control
2 Emeralds: Time Travel
3 Emeralds: Enhanced Strength
4 Emeralds: Cloning
5 Emeralds: Super Shield
6 Emeralds: Instant Regeneration
7 Emeralds: Super Transformation
That’s an interesting idea actually. I like it.
Just a plot macguffen from Sonic Adventure to Sonic Unleashed only used for the final boss and it looks like Frontiers is going to go back to that.
That intro reminds me of my favorite word.
All so true nice vid
In shadow the hedgehog they say that black doom needed the chaos emeralds to chaos control the black comet to Earth’s surfacr
The thing is, Sonic doesn't seem to have Lost his Memories in fronteiers to me the the memory tokens are like computer memory bassicly Data
Watching this has me curious on whether the emeralds will be tied to the story in frontiers. I mean we know that Sonic will use them to fight the titans but will the villains in frontiers actually want to use them for some purpose. It makes me want the game to release sooner so we can uncover the story.

There could be an agruement about the chaos emeralds in shadow the hedgehog
because its the sole reason why blackdoom came to earth (fun fact black arms was already foreshadowed in adventure 2) and had shadow made beside the Maria stuff
dementia? better call not saul but the chaos emeralds :trollge:
Last time we saw Master Emerald was in his story in Sonic Rivals 2. It ended with it being stolen by Rouge.
@UCiXWNET3K2tfDkGgvsXcMEA They are cannon
“If infinite wouldn’t have had the creative mind of a wooden plank” 🤣😂 IM SCREAMINGGGGG u read him for filth 💀
I’m pretty sure every character in the game will be getting a super form plus every emerald has a super power
Knuckles purposely shatters the Master Emerald, and it’s my headcanon that the Master Emerald is now guarded my Chaos and Tikal.
My headcanon is that whenever Knuckles is away a forgotten character fills in for him, like Mighty Ray, Honey, etc.
