The lighting in the HD port looks so good! I love how the more powerful Switch has made ghost infested rooms darker
I've seen people complain that the switch version is too bright, like what? It's darker than the 3ds version haha (which is a good thing)
@@NintendoMania It also can be even darker if you turn the in-game brightness down to Dimmest. Makes it look fantastic.

feel like this remaster occupies a weird spot in which it's simultaneously not very impressive and also way more impressive than lots of people seem to give it credit for. like by all accounts this seems to be a complete visual remake, it just treats the look of the original as a more deliberate choice rather than a result of limitations.
Yeah, this is the kind of "faithful remaster" that most people want when you see someone complains that a remaster of other games "disrespects the artstyle of the original". This is the best that they will get without entering the "HD Texture pack" problem.

Well I mean Metroid prime is a shorter game with it only being like 9 hours while dark moon is more like 15 hours
Luigi is a part of the Mario universe. The Metroid brand isn’t anywhere as big as the Mario brand.

Loving all the extra detail that's being added into Dark Moon HD. For example, Luigi's hat actually flies off his head after bumping into his chair at 1:28; there's added lip syncing for certain voice clips that originally didn't have any like at 3:01, and of course more natural lighting to make use of his flashlight as well as extra detail being added to originally flat textures like at 2:26. Not too shabby for an HD remaster. Of course, not everyone's gonna think the same, but me personally they nailed it.
goot to know there's someone else who thinks this. I appreciate the visible work that went into actually remastering the game's graphics!

In Europe it has always been Luigi's Mansion 2

Yeah, everywhere else besides the US, it was called 2 instead of Dark Moon for some reason.
Most of this looks really nice on Switch, but right at the start of this video, the overview of the valley just looks much better on 3DS. That scene benefits from a lower resolution, at least with those models (which were made for lower resolution)
No "overhere" voice line in the scare scraper switch version I'm broken

It's probably a good game to get if you don't have it on the 3DS, especially for the Skyscraper (the online mode), I spend hours and hours on end on that mode!

I just hate how older animations look on higher Polly models. They just look really stiff and soulless when. The animation was not built with all the extra face details in mind

The only thing that looks soulless in my opinion is the eye blinking, since it still uses blinking frames and looks weird for an HD console

It ran at 60fps. I loved the stereoscopic 3d effect of the 3ds on this game
@@rodvarmo It ran at 60, but somehow, the Switch version looks smoother despite being at a lower frame rate. Look at the cutscenes.
@@SaltyToad00 - It TRIED to run at 60fps, but it dropped below it quite often. It runs better on Luma3DS with the New 3DS clock speed on, though.

Now LM 2 and LM 3 are playable on Switch but the first one is left on GameCube and 3DS.
I just got Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, and the visual upgrade is great, one of the things about it being on the 3DS for me was the cramped controls and yeah the visuals were fine for the 3DS, but I always wanted version that was sharper.

Loving this HD remaster/remake, but it feels weird that they decide to do 2 before 1. They should have included both in the package remastered like this or at least made 1 first, I think.
This is one of those games that u don’t really notice a difference in the graphics until u actually compare them
I just want to say, thank you for making all those videos for finding the star coins in Super Mario Bros Wii. Me & my dad would always look up your videos and watch them to find the coins (ps, we still do!)

The Remaster of Luigi's Mansion 2 HD looks super amazing on the Switch!

It's been years since I played any Luigi's Mansion game. I couldn't care less about this comparison, although the Switch version does have clean visuals, but I will be looking for a copy of the first Luigi's Mansion game on 3DS just to get caught up.

Luigis animation on the 3ds gave a more scared/nervous personality, glad my childhood game is back on the switch though
not just a straight port. They updated the textures and upped the polycount on the character models. Nice. Now we need HD remaster of Luigi's mansion 1 and Bring back Mario sunshine Hd and Galaxy 1 and 2 in HD.

Im having so much fun replaying this game. i never understood the dislike people had for it.
Better quality overall, but you can tell that there are lighting differences with some of the models.

I am playing the switch versión right now and haveing playes Luigis Mansion 3 I mist say this game looks awesome.
hard to belive that this game is over 10 years old, I'll admit, the 3ds version looks better than I remember, and that's saying something compared to the new version.
And some people said the remake makes the game less scary its so much more darker now a good welcome

I always remembered E.Gadd with swirl glasses, but it’s really just smaller circles.

This looks like a game from Wii that upgraded to WiiU, and I don't think it's worth the price as of now. It would be if they made a remake with noticeable changes.
I think the main thing is that people are finally able to play this on a modern console. The bonus is that the visuals have improved so much.
I know what version I'm getting.
It definitely won't be the 3ds version.

I appreciate that that the game is cleaner and REALLY appreciate that its darker, but at the end of the day the gameplay is still DM and there not a lot to compel someone who has already played it to buy it again for $60.

The first one was already remade in 3DS, besides, Dark Moon is pretty much equally as good objectively

ok, i am one of the last person who will complain about differences made in remakes or remasters if it feels justified. i like almost all the aspects of the TTYD remake over the original.
but something about the graphics here just rubs me the wrong way. it feels like all they did here was update the models and resolution to call it "HD." the issue i have with this is that the sprites and such were made to be played on the 3ds's dry low resolution screen. they upscale the sprites and resolution, but don't do anything about the lighting. it almost feels like Disney's Wish in a way with the art direction the remake takes.
but look, i'm also sure there's going to be a bunch of other quality of life improvements featured here, but i definitely feel like they're cutting corners here, especially when they demand $60 for this. ($80 here in Canada!)
the only problem i really have with this game is how expensive it is for absolutely no reason. Especially when (here in America, at least) it cost a whole $40 less because of Nintendo selects. Turning it into a $20 game
@@Woffle8340 well, yeah. this is part of exactly what i said. all it feels like they did with the game was upscale the sprites without much thought put into anything else and then selling this for the same price as Luigi's Mansion 3 - something VERY well made and handcrafted, and TTYD's remake - a remake that goes above and beyond to MAKE SURE the price is justified. this is robbery and corporate greed

You have to take in consideration that this game was made for 3D, it's looks amazing on the New 3DS IMO this is how the game was meant to be played.

i will admit, the graphics in the switch version are better, but as for the cutscenes, the 3DS is better as they express emotions way better, when luigi looked scared breathing in an out with his back to the door, you see his jaw moving in the 3DS version but the switch version, his teeth aren't even moving.
U guys think Nintendo will make Gamecube Online & add the OG Luigi's Mansion game on there so that way the whole Luigi's Mansion series is on Switch?

Me traen el MP Remastered a $40, se ve mil veces mejor qué este y más trabajado, luego el DKR HD a $60? En serio nintendo? Soy fan de muchos de sus juegos, pero son unos ratas, por eso aún no compro el skyward sword, me niego a pagar tanto por juegos qué no valen ni la mitad de lo que ellos piden, el único qué lo ha valido a sido el metroid.
Looks a more polished and cleaner than the 3DS version but it’s not worth $60. $40 more like it. The lighting in the 3DS version is better but looks like they gave the HD version the darker spookier look like the 1st LM. Strange.
but the shape language still sets it apart from the 1st LM imo. The lighting on the 3DS version just seems to fit more

How can the clowns in Metacritic that gave this HD version 50 score claim that nothing was changed from the graphics perspective? I mean look at God of War 2 HD, Luigis HD is far superior than God of War remasters. (except third one).

Atleast ttyd had an excuse because it was a full blown remake with new visuals and a new engine, but this is basically just a straight port with updated textures and models.
Its even worse when you consider that the original had an uncapped framerate and it could 100% possible to have 60 fps on switch without much gameplay compromise because its obvious the original probably ran on delta time.

I honestly prefer how the colors and lighting looks on the 3DS. Something about it is kinda cozy, but helps with the "creepy" atmosphere. The Switch one looks a bit more generic I guess and kinda takes away from what made Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon stand out to me.
Then again, graphically, the Switch version is much better, but I prefer the style, I guess, of the 3DS.

i'm sorry but the blockiness of the 3DS version is just more charming. just look what they did to the coins. the game was built with the 3DS in mind and they hardly even tried with the switch port. defo not worth $60 compared to what they did to metroid prime which was $40. it's sad that dark moon is being treated like this
