  • New Orkney Pilothouse 24 Mk ii supplied by Bosun's locker in Edinburgh, fitted with Honda 75 hp outboard - 4th trip out in the Clyde. Went up the Kyles of Bute - nice sunny day. Despite weather forecast, conditions changed quite quickly. Felt very safe to be on the Orkney on the way back, despite some fairly testing conditions...

Have faith in your boat, i had a very unusual commercial open strike liner 16ft with a 50hp Yamaha 4 stroke. (Long story) anyway,
Safest boat you could wish for, been out in some real nasty stuff, short steep chop, big ocean swells, overfalls, you name it.
When you want to go home before the boat does, you know shes good.
Orkneys dont have that reputation for no good reason!

Safe boating, I run for home in the slightest of chops in my 13ft tinny. Looks like a great boat.

The camera never gives a true perspective of the swells and waves 👍

great boat, how do you find it for lauching and recovering, really keen on buying a pilothouse 20 myself
cant make my mind up inboard or outboard i suspect the outboard version may be lighter

I have ridden bigger waves on Loch Awe in a DELL Quay Fisher 15. No fuss.
