Hey Kate! Yay, we celebrate the 4th of July in our family. We have a lake house where we spend the summer. On the 4th we have a boat parade around the lake, pot luck BBQ with friends and family, and watch fireworks from our pontoon boat. Lots of fun!
Road trips are fun! My husband and I go to the beach every summer with my best friend and his two kids. We're heading down in only 10 days, and it will take about 4-5 hours. I think that the travel part is half the fun. We get to talk to each other without a lot of distractions, listen to music, and laugh. Some of my favorite memories have been in the car headed to the beach!
life is weird like that some times, where suddenly it seems that everything falls apart, but hopefully is uphill from here as you said

Summer time traditions more when I was little, my grandpa would take us all to lakes or rivers, buy chips and candy and make bbq at the side of the river and then at the end of the day, we would ride in the back of the truck tucked in our towels and still dripping wet eating all the food leftovers, and just before going back home, he would get us a big ice cream cone and that would be "dinner", those are one of my fondest memories of when I was 6-12 years old
Yay! We used to always go up to visit Greg’s parents and spend the 4th there. They live close to a resort town so there are always a lot of well funded and fun activities there and some great fireworks we always watch. A family there always have this home as pizza party thing. This year though, now that we have moved so far away we will stay here. The town does the fireworks directly across the lake from us so we will take blankets and go down to the dock and watch them from there. Should be awesome!

We’ve already had one 4th of July and fireworks 🎆 on the actual 4th we are cooking out at home having our kids and friend over to enjoy a more subdued holiday together. I’m sorry you’ve had one thing after another, and another, and another expense come up. I’m glad you did have some to fall back on to help. It was really good to hear about the enjoyment you guys got from your stepdaughter while ahead was there and sharing diamond painting with them. I miss the days of having everyone home at once and camping memories. ❤. I do enjoy your vlogs , I also enjoy road trips but the best was when I was young and took backroads with my grandparents
Mine is a nay but a yay for a different holiday in UT. My dad was a pilot and always gone for the 4th. But we had pioneer day in the 24th of July in UT. So we'd buy KFC and head to Liberty Park around 2pm to get a good spot. Drop a blanket and later two sleeping bags we could open and zip together to make a really big blanket space for a picnic and firework watching. So. KFC always reminds me of the 24th! Since moving to AR, we go to a family pavilion own by someone in my church and they throw a party the Saturday before the 4th. We've gone to that every year here so far!

I’m from Australia so don’t celebrate 4th of July. We do love going to the beach during summer and will cook breakfast there enjoying the morning watching the waves. Bbq is big here so we definitely enjoy that as well.
Such a bummer about the water heater. Nothing is made to last. Nothing is made to repair anymore either. So frustrating! It truly seems like all expenses are big expenses anymore and they all hit at the same time. Nay on celebrating the 4th. I'm not a fan of fireworks because of my noise sensitivity. We have a lot of neighbors who do big fireworks in the summer and at Christmas time and it gets old. Plus, I kind of feel like if you've seen one you've seen them all. I like the idea of drone shows though.
We really don't celebrate the 4th. I really enjoy your video's . I understand about your house falling apart all at once .my house was built in 1901. In April our generator , the tv , and the sump pumb broke in a week. I live in Kansas
