I can really appreciate this piece. Being married to an African American woman, you notice even more that there really are no voices praising the greatness or beauty of black women. As Americans we are almost immune to the concept of a black beautiful person. I've had several conversations with non black friends, colleagues, & what not about their opinion on black woman & they all tell me all these things they know (stereotypes really), yet they don't know any. Haven't dated any? The perception seems to be that they all wear weaves, have bad attitudes, or are "baby mamas". It disgusts me & saddens me for the fact that These lies are why we need to change, What this generation is not realizing is how deep this goes.
Maybe black school should stop putting metal detector at their door. If they don't treat themself like that of white school, I don't see why white people should treat black the same.

Wow, speaking of generalizations . . . . black women or any other race of human being have no greatness or beautiful in the romantic/dating/life partner sense. Individuals are found appealing or attractive to or by other individuals, not entire races or genders. I have seen black women that I thought were classy, beautiful & attractive. I have seen black women that I thought were exotic, mysteriously alluring & plain hot. And I have seen the opposite end of the scale according to what I personally find to be attractive or not. You will not hear my voice praising the greatness or beauty of any entire race.

Pickel Sandwich some of you are too caught up in seeing some black men dating white women that you overlook the black men who love and date black women. I’ve been bullied by white women as a kid. I’ve always stood up and I’ve always been there for my sisters. You don’t know my story at all for you to say something like that.
3:19 hit home for me. I’m 22 and I’ve graduated college. Most of my classmates from high school all are either in a serious relationship, have a family or married. I get weird looks from people when I say I don’t have kids or I’m not married or that I’m single. Then I realized that so many black girls around my age are in the same situation.
Is it because no man hits on you?
I remember an episode of girlfriends where that was the topic. They said that, especially as a successful well-educated working black woman you really struggle with finding a man. And in a video from Sarah Silverman's new show, she gets in a car with two black women who are doctors and they said, they often get told that they could pass as white.... That's one of the grossest things I ever heard. Even when you worked hard and earned something it gets taken away from you.
So what?! Want a boyfriend by force of law? Maybe you could get it through the Congress.

Attractiveness and Unattractiveness is largely determined by societal standards of beautiful. If a person has unattractive features for the most part, it is affected by what society mainly finds attractive. If we are living in a country that says that cat eyes are attractive and you have large round eyes, that trait is not desirable by a large amount of the population. It is because we may want cat-like eyes to get passed down as opposed to the rounder and/or bigger eyes. Same for gapped teeth/closed teeth, straight hair-coily hair, paler skin to darker skin, thinner to heavy weighted people, lighter eyes to darker eyes, tall to short, etc. This may be the plight of being in a serious relationship and finding a mate especially in certain areas that may lack diversity or may so abide more by the hegemonic societal standards of beauty.
Racism is so real. Colorism is also real, along with feauturism. I have experienced all three. Especially, with me being a dark skinned, heavyset, black woman with short hair.
It is so sad and unfair how black woman are treated... You are beautiful, strong and awesome as you are! There is nothing wrong with your natural hair it's just beautiful! Much love and respect from germany (yes I'm white)
I find as a black man nappy hair to be ugly and disgusting, its not beautiful. Reality is not everyone is beautiful and some people shouldn't reproduce. Some people have to change and negotiate with society. People have to be adaptable and dynamic.

Thank you for providing more evidence to prove why you should sterilize yourself. Millions of men love black hair, otherwise the gene to produce that hair would have died out. But no, offspring with black hair continue to be born because many man find it attractive. You should able to recognize that many things about human attraction are *subjective*. That means its not absolutely or objectively true or false that any type of hair is attractive. It all depends on individual people. You'd know this if you were smarter. The fact that you can't accept other people have different opinions on hair, and that you believe your position is an absolute truth means you are not adaptive at all. Which is why you qualify for being sterilized. ^_^ Thank you very much for proving my point. If you need help finding someone who can perform the procedure for you, I'm more then happy to help.
Back when I was a child, white women in my neighborhood would never call me or my sister cute when they saw us...no. They would always say to my mother, "Oh, your children look so clean." I was about 3 years old, but I remember getting that same "complement" over and over again. I looked clean. I started to worry, even then....if I only look clean, does that mean I'm actually dirty? I started to think my dark skin made me dirty. That I could wash it off and be lighter. I still carry that. I still feel people looking at me sometimes...and wonder if they think I'm clean, or if they think I'm dirty.
To be honest (coming from a white girl) I actually kind of envy y'all's skin. I think it's beautiful and y'all age so much better than us! I know a lot of great colored people and I wouldn't have them any other way

I remember when Lupita Nyong'o said in an interview that, growing up, she didn't believe she was beautiful, because she never saw women like herself on tv. I immediately cried. Someone like her - HER!!! - not beautiful?!! I'm white, but I have dark curly hair and dark eyes and growing up every blonde girl thought she was the center of the universe and that I was garbage. Blonde Barbie was always better than her lame brunette sidekick Teresa. And every actress had to be blonde to be famous. Well, almost every actress. Because there was one teenager called Tatyana Ali, who played Ashley on the Prince of Bel Air and she was dropdead-gorgeous and I wanted to be just like her. She actually gave me confidence, because as a kid I felt like I had more in common with her than any white person on tv.

that chorus girls story about the costumer telling her that her hair couldn't do what the other girls hair could do really resonated with me. You can see it in her eyes as they start to well up from the memory. Something that was so pure for her, to dance, to dance with equal devotion and representation... was just corrupted.
I know the entire natural hair community would be cackling at that statement and would of had ya girl with a bomb twist out before the curtains even opened.

I’m a black, Latina woman in college. It’s my freshman year and I always get asked why I’m so angry when I’m passionately speaking about issues that cause me pain. I can’t go back to my countries El Salvador or Haiti because they’re in poverty and it all stems from racial issues. White fragility is so real and I’m scared to talk about my issues. White men have literally been so aggressive with me over asking questions or stating facts. The worst part is my school attempts to suppress colored voices it because it hurts their feelings but my people are dead. I will never know my native culture and I can’t go back home to my families. I think the death of my people and the poverty of my countries are more important that anyone’s feelings. Anyways I love my black queens. We got this!

I remember I had gotten box braids just for the look or for the beauty of it and a girl came up to me and asked me why I had horse hair. I felt like crying so hard that day because I felt so fake.

I think I cried through more of this video than not. Very wise perspective analysis- like you said- if only adults who were loved can grow up to be loving adults. Many of these haters were only loved for what they had/have to offer, not for truly who they ARE.
So their own worth is only valued extrinsically. They have no intrinsic self-value. Thus, they project hatred onto everyone. It is quite sad, but becomes dangerous when that hatred is violent (economically/physically/politically/systemically).

I have a degree in Forensic Psychology, Masters degree and I'm called a liar if I say that. I'm told I HAVE, not probably, I HAVE different "baby daddies", I don't know my father and my IQ is under 70 because I'm a darker shade.
I am a daddies girl and have both of my parents. I'm happily married to a very successful black man. I don't have an attitude as a black woman, I'm actually pretty goofy and it takes a lot for me to get angry because yelling and cussing to get your point across is a waste of my air. It's common sense you cannot start out by disrespecting someone whose opinion differs from yours and expect to have a conversation or debate or even that they will want to listen to you after that. Itreally is true you collect more bees with honey than vinegar..
I have that degree and a doctorate in it too. I'm told often that I don't, because I'm black (with words or implication). I've lived in Africa and other people would do this and the same happens here in Canada, after I moved. Or, you know, you're black and black women don't have those, don't deserve those.

about three years ago i had a women that liked me and she was Korean we traded numbers. but then one day i was in the court house and i seen this black crying and i approach her and said whats wrong and are you ok. she said no and we started. to talk and then laugh from that day on besides my mother i never new how beautiful black women are inside and out so i took a vow never ever in my life i will date out side of my race again. and to all of my beautiful black women stay strong i love you all from corporate black women two homeless black women educated black women uneducated black women I love you all I am still single never married 42 years old no children no STDs financially doing good I'm not rich either I am poor 2016 I made $235,000 I own my own home and I are still trying to make sure my finances is in order but I hope one day God will bless me with my beautiful black queen so get back to the woman that was crying she was crying about how she just got racially profile again black woman this black man love you stay strong stay passion and put God first

Why are people so quick to denigrate and attack these women solely for voicing their opinion?
Their having grievances doesn't deny you a right to your own. Their telling one side of the story doesn't mean there is another.
Why is everything a competition? Who has it hardest; blacks, whites, arabs, asians? Who cares? Why not acknowledge the difficulties faced by each and seek to rectify these through understanding rather then point scoring?

Good Black woman inspire me because I see most go through a lot of b.s. growing up and being diffrent but still able to be wonderful,graceful and charming.

I have daughters and I tell them every chance I get, that they are smart, important, special, beautiful, and can be ANYTHING they want. Not to limit themselves for no one. I am both native and African decent. I'm either told to be more black or more proud to be American. Truth is, I live for me! I no longer wish to fit in with standards that are set to define and stroke the egos of people. Love is a multiplicity. It's warm and comfort. It's also Truth! I can't wait for the day that Truth is what we ALL acknowledge #OneLove
Too many of us are focused on acceptance instead of liberation. Once we become liberated we will no longer have to think about being accepted!
I'm olive skinned and speak Spanish from birth, however because I know black women in America are the most neglected and disrespected, I will ALWAYS prioritize and uplift my black sisters before anyone else, on God. 💯

I can relate when the woman was talking about having to get or have another person, (especially with a huge chance of that person being white, looked at by default as the one with or who represents authority or sort of power placed on them) and validation through that person (whether they knew me or not) to give the 'greenlight' or confirmation as to why I am wherever I am and if I serve a purpose. It is all based on what this person may say, and it is to be obeyed regardless of the outcome. They need someone else to explain or give the "Okay" as for my affiliation with whatever I am doing, and as to why my presence is necessary and should be known for whatever reason.
It hurts and it is not fair.
I am treated as if:
"I am put in a box, in a corner, and told to shut up".
Ask yourself:
Who, What, When, Where, Why and How?
Especially before speaking to a color human being, because that's who we are.

I am from INDIA 🇮🇳, through internet I got know about USA cultures (especially BLACK CULTURE) i loved it (the diverse ethnicities USA has) like INDIA (multi cultural itself). There are very prominent BLACK celebrities and influencers in USA and public ❤️s and respects them. I thought this BLACK RACISM was fading in USA and now everyone respects everyone. Then this vedio is 6 yrs old, so I don't know what is current situation on RACISM in USA in 2022. ??.

Kari: No offense, but Hispanics are some of the most anti-black and racist even within their own. If you are unaware, it’s only because you are not paying attention, but Latinos and Hispanics don’t wanna identify with their black blood either even though most are brown or dark skin and a great deal great and even possibly you have black blood. A lot of the culture and music and food is from Africa and the Caribbean.
