I don’t think the father is brainwashing his child. One thing most people are kissing is the fact that regardless of what he chooses to teach his son, people will still look at him as a black stereotype before a human being. Since both of my parents are immigrants from Africa, they didn’t know how racist America was and told me to trust all people of authority including the police, but I’m still being followed around in stores and stopped by the police. I only wish I knew how to handle it before so that it wouldn’t feel so bad every time it happened.

He doesn't need to tell you that because some people may see you as a "thug" or think you to be "suspicious" simply for the skin you were born with. The reasoning for telling you that is very different from the reasoning of black parents.

And for everyone, the more upstanding in your image presence (as you can) and character,…. the more respect you'll get by all people, generally speaking,… of course exceptions occur in a variety of ways.

I agree with the Black father. As a Black man myself, I'm a very peaceful man, who works for a living and tries to never intentionally break the law. But, police officers don't know that. All they would see is the color of my skin and that alone would be reason enough for them to pull me over and possibly take my life. Plus, I find it eerily funny how police officers carry guns, tasers, billy clubs, and the ability to call back-up to officers who have even more guns, tasers, and billy clubs at their disposal, yet THEY fear for their lives. But don't take my word for it. Ask other peaceful law-abiding Black men (such as myself) who weren't so lucky like Amadou Diallo (murdered by the police, armed with just his wallet. The police were found not guilty.) or Sean Bell (gunned down by police officers the day before his wedding. The officers involved won the case, by the way.) or Philando Castile (who was LEGALLY armed, obeyed the officer's commands, and was still gunned down by a trigger-happy police officer in front of his girlfriend and child in his own car. The police officer was not only acquitted but was also awarded a $48,500 buyout.). And those are just 3 of multiple examples.

Do your research, and use reliable resources. The information is well documented. Research peonage laws, black codes, Jim Crow laws, the Civil Rights Act, CIOINTELPRO, etc....I bet you white people can't name one black person in American history they celebrate, (wholeheartedly, as an American Hero?). Are their any blacks who made significant contributions to this country??? Martin Luther King was just made recently a federal holiday after strong opposition by white conservative politicians. Obama was disrespected on every level by racist whites in the government, who hated that he was the, "Commander In Chief". Remember the senator from South Carolina who stood up in the house of senate, and called him a, " LIAR"? I commend Obama's composure, I would of had security thrown his ass out on his head.

considering the stop and frisk policy that was (not sure if it still is) going on in the NY area, and knowing that the people the police were stopping and frisking, were blacks and other minorities... I would say that it is very necessary for black people to avoid cops
and just because you "have nothing to hide"... this type of policy encourages hatred and innocent people can become victims... they are supposed to have probable cause... there is a reason for the saying "driving while black" or "walking while black"

Black people seem obsessed about being a color.
White people see themselves as just regular human beings. It doesn't really cross my mind what color I am or what country my ancestors came from.
You hear things like African American, proud woman of color, never forget your roots etc.
Why not just be American, a proud woman or proud to be from New York etc
There's too much emphasis on the skin color and that in turn separates people.
Whites mainly see black people as different because they tell us they are. Also they talk differently too.
Funny thing is Asians don't seem to have as many problems even though they are culturally less similar to whites.

I was always taught to be careful when dealing with cops but if you find yourself pulled over, always be honest and tell the truth, and for Pete's sake don't give them anymore reason to escalate things. The police are always walking a fine line and under the constant eye of public scrutiny so do yourself a favor and dont escalate situations. Thats what i was taught, and thats how i live. And its funny when Officer Rasheed talks about parents telling their kids "he's gonna get you", the dude right across from him, who just moments ago was talking about telling his kid "say away walk away, NO interaction with police" (basically training his kids that they have to be afraid) has a surprised look on his face and says "wow". Here is the problem. We have a double standard that sets a precedent that it is ok to judge white people and put them in a generalized box.
They say all white people dont care and white people are this. Cops are bad, but if you put the shoe on the other foot it’s racist. Some chick says white people don’ care about blacks. Some people white don’t would be accurate, but if I said black people don’t care about whites, suddenly that is justified when I know for sure that on both sides there is compassion. I saw a post on Facebook reading, “what are white people scared of?”, posted by a Latina. On the other foot. If had read what are black people scared of, it would be racist af!
Keep pushing white people in a corner, you can’t act surprised when they push back. Why do white people seem to have more privilege than other nationalities? Because they are the majority in the country. The larger group tends to hold authority. That’s what it is. Plus white people are not one nationality. From the same northern hemisphere, just like Mexicans and South Americans. Two groups that historically been rivals with the same complexion

It is because of the way our history and racist society functions. Racism and white supremacy are normalized. Notice, white people, do not even have to think about race. White people find it curious when asked. Do you ever think about race. White persons do not even notice, such question is unusual. Race for white persons is not something they even have to consider. Racism is so normalized, that the monstrous behavior of a whole society is acceptable. White persons are so out of touch with the constant suffering and oppression of black persons, primarily. Other persons of color also suffer in America.

The reason many get shot by Police is because they resist Police and are smart asses. When they resist it is a threat to the police officers.
Alton Sterling was a known criminal in Baton Rouge. He did not just sell DVDs.
He had a long criminal record and was a convicted felon who was not supposed to have a firearm.
The Police were called as a result of Alton Sterling pointing his gun at other black people in the parking lot where he was conducting his "business". The police knew he was armed before they arrived because that is precisely why they were called.
When the police arrived Alton Sterling resisted arrest and was tased twice but pulled out the wires and was still resisting. The police then wrestled Sterling to the ground where he was still resisting. His gun was in his pocket and Sterling was reaching for it.
(You can be shot through a cotton pair of pants). Then and only then did one of the police pull their weapon and fire on Alton Sterling.
Had Alton Sterling not resisted arrest (several times) and not acted in a threatening manner toward the police he would have simply been arrested and gone to jail.
I live in Baton Rouge which is a sprawling metro area of around 850,000 people. The area Alton Sterling was in is a high crime area and Police deal with crimes of all types in that area daily with nobody getting killed. The police are not out looking to kill blacks which is the false narrative from the news media. These are facts.
