Lessons learned that I will correct immediately:
1. Brush hair, don't just use a
wide tooth comb
2. Don't skip regular
conditioner
3. Use less product
4. Use on damp hair- not wet
5. Use shower cap, minimum
30 minutes.
Now that I'll be tightening up my routine, I have a new little pep in my step in anticipation of wash day😂

If you want more slip, wear vinyl gloves. separate chunks of hair with your fingers then work your way from ends to roots
with the detangle tool of your choice.
The deep conditioning treatment will expand when it comes in contact with the water in your hair. SO you don't need to use so much. if you see lots of frothing and globs of product oozing off to the floor you are using too much.

I’ve been using the plumping conditioner for about six months and I’ve seen such a difference in the health of my hair 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿 my hair is color treated and type 4. it’s worth every penny IMO and I don’t think the prices are expensive for the price at all.

This was my reminder to get this full line! I recently started bleaching my natural hair, so I’m aware that it’s damaged. A while ago my mom bought your elongating cream product, & I just happened to use it when I ran out of products, & WOW did it do its job! My hair was colored at the time too. I can’t believe I forgot about that!
A quick thought about using a regular rinse-out conditioner before the DC is that if your rinse-out contains silicones (which I personally love), it could coat your hair and limit the penetration of the deep conditioner... especially if you don't use heat. Making the DC stretch is a great tip; just a personal choice whether to choose better penetration over saving some coin. 💜
I deep condition first then use a rinse out and detangle again, then my leave-in conditioner

Her products are the only products that work for my daughters hair. The mix chick's deep conditioner works, but it breaks my daughter's skin out and her face welt with huge red thick long splashes. So, I can't use it. I've been using Whits products on her hair since September 2020 with no problems.

I don’t know if there is a production problem or if its an ulta problem. But this past weekend I went to purchase this deep conditioner and all of the jars were 3/4 full. The literally stopped at the 1 n in the word melaNin. If I’m paying 32 bucks for a deep conditioner, I would like it to be full. Not blaming you or anything, but I just wanted to let you know.

Your hair is so gorgeous. I've been using the regular conditioner after the deep conditioner to seal the cuticle after the deep moisturization, but I see your point in doing it in the other order. That way I can detangle during the regular conditioner and disperse the DC more fully. Will give it a try.
What mousse did you apply? And is it the only product you applied and left on your hair? If so, how long did the wash and go last before you needed to remoisturize or refresh the style?

For your iron...get you some Mary Ruth Organics liquid iron. I had low iron while pregnant, this product improved my levels after about a week of taking the recommended dosage.

I did exactly that the other day. I made a concoction for my hair then twisted in sections under a plastic bag overnight. Following day I used my curling gel. Finger detangled and noticed so much growth. I gave my hair a break as I'm always in twists. So much growth, shrinkage is so real and I love the volume as it dries. Well I have all of your products other than the deep conditioner. Used the reviving Multi clarifying shampoo yesterday. The Multi use conditioner is just that. The hair oil is the perfect seal and lock oil, almost forgot about the Twist Elongated Style Cream. So, my takeaway from this video was, damp hair will absorb more product than wet hair, makes sense. Because it’s as thin as most lotions, try transferring it to a pump bottle. It’s helped me out.
I agree, keep one of the leaves in conditioner bottles and transfer it, makes life so much easier.
In this video she recommends not apply the dc in the shower at all, but outside the shower when the hair is damp. Perhaps that would be a good option for you. But others' also have the great idea of transferring the contents into one of your used up bottles from something if you really do want to dc in the shower.

It took me a few buys of the the Melanin conditioner to understand that wow it really helps me to detangle my hair, this conditioner is obviously made with wonderful ingredients. Honestly lol I “deep” condition with your regular conditioner because it’s a light formula but it works well and it’s a lot of product in the bottles. I will have to try your deep conditioner next.

I condition and detangle first with cheap high slip conditioner, shampoo, then deep condition. I agree deep conditioning on detangled damp hair saves a ton of product. I also spray my deep conditioner with ACV to add slip before final rinse.
Do you wash the regular conditioner out or do you leave it in while applying deep conditioning?
I came to see what that gorgeous head of hair was looking like as of late. Thriving and getting longer by the day. Sn: I detangle during my prepoo stage. It works well for me and by the time I’m at the DC step, my hair is nice and detangled.
I have 3B very fine curl. When I deep condition I always do all the methods she showed. The only thing I can’t do is bring the deep conditioner up that far or I will have flat hair. But the residue on the brush does the trick for getting the product up to the top without risking weighed down curls.

Hello. I just want to show you some gratitude and love. I found you 6.5 years ago when I was transitioning back to natural after... 22 years of straightening. I'm Sri Lankan and DO NOT have "Indian" hair admittedly it's not afro either but closer to the type. From the flex rods, to the gel and all the parts in-between - thank you. I was completely lost and probably would have back tracked to the straighteners without you. I'm now "known" for my curls- the straight haired Sasha is dead now 😂😂😂

Absolutely love Love LOVE your products. The only thing I use.the shampoo gets my hair clean and I notice a huge upgrade in my curls. I’ve been through two pregnancies back to back (2021 & 2023) so my hair has been through a lot. Shedding tremendously and extremely tangled causing knots but I did gain a lot of length. I’m just usually so tired I’ve been lazy with caring for the hair. I will say I never wear bonnets..I never could by the time I wake up it’s on the floor 😂 I find it uncomfortable. Now I have more time and getting better with caring for the hair and these products help so much! No complaints 🤷🏾♀️🦄🙏🏾❤️🥂

Hi!!! I am sorry to hear about your iron count. My iron count was low and my dr ordered me an iron infusion and girl it made a huge difference. I recommend it. Also, I am a busy mom and just being in the infusion room was relaxing. I slept the entire time. Love your hair ! ❤❤

Interesting approach. However if you use a rinse out conditionner before a dc it s counter productive since the formulation of a conditionner or rinse out is to moisturise and close the cuticles. So if you use a conditionner before you would be sealing the cuticles even before the deep conditioner is applied. For à high porosity some of the cuticles will still be lifted but for medium or low porosity this is a no no. You can use a rinse out after deep conditioner when you are about to rinse out the dc. Just apmy less product if you want to save on the dc.
Rinse out are made to seal the cuticles. That why the ph is lower in general also. They formulate with that purposes to facilitation detangling also.
I agree with applying out of the shower on damp hair and not wet. No need to be heavy handed, just distribute most definitely. 👍🏾
Sometimes I skip the combing process because, with my type 3c, everything glides through when it's wet. I'll make sure to not skip anything and take my time with it.
However, I really need a great deep conditioner, so thanks for the reminder.

Detangle with cheap conditioner, brush deep conditioner thru. Makes so much sense. I will try this method next wash day ❤

This was a game changer for our wash day. My daughter has very thick, very coarse, long 4c hair, and using this method cut our wash time down by 20-25 minutes. My hair isn't as thick and coarse, but I was able to use this method and wash and condition my hair in less than a half hour.
