  • Hi all Sabaton fans!
Just HAD to make this since Sabaton is one of my favorite bands and Shooter is a really great movie. Together i though maybe, awesome? :)
I'm no pro at video editing so please rate nicely, hope you enjoy!
Addition: Please note that as stated below that the song and the video is not really related and are only put together for action / entertainment value. As many of you have stated, the true hero from the Finnish winter war is of course Finnish soldier "Simo Häyhä", which supposedly injured and killed in excess of +500(!) soviet soldiers during this harsh war, which in fact was carried out as a long term solo mission, in many ways without the help of modern technology and a spotter in the team (even more impressive!).
    Disclaimer:
This movie is made purely for entertainment and the relation to the soundtrack is not originally intented.
I do not own either the music and/or video material included in this movie. I also do not own the soundtrack recorded by Sabaton from the album "Coat of Arms". The persons and events in this motion picture is fictitious. Any similarity to actual persons or events is unintentional.

Simo Hayha got 505 kills with his sniper rifle and a further 150 or so with his SMG and his knife. The russians sent everything after him, the shelled him with artillery, it only tore his jacket and he laughed it off, they sent commando and counter sniper teams after him, he killed them. They even tried carpet bombing areas they thought he might be, he was not there. in the end he got shot in the face with an explosive bullet, that stopped him for about a week, then the war ended... this guy is one of histories true bad-asses.

A sniper is originally someone hunting for snipes (birds), later someone firing from an ambush, now usually someone shooting with high caliber at longer distances is perceived as sniper. Thus the term "Sniper rifle" initially refers to a very precise, long distance weapon that fires high-speed bullets, now basically a precise high caliber rifle, but scope is not neccessary. He (Simon Häyhä) preferred iron sight so the sun doesn't glance off the lense and reveal him.

In military and law enforcement terminology, a sniper rifle is a precision-rifle used to ensure more accurate placement of bullets at longer ranges than other small arms. The term is often used in the media to describe any type of accurized firearm fitted with a telescopic sight that is employed against human targets, although "sniping rifle" or "sniper's rifle" is the technically correct term for such a rifle.

In the Norse sagas, inclusion of a Finnish element almost always signifies a supernatural aspect to the story." Taken from wikipedia. Not the most credible source I know but still.

He had snow in hes mouth to cover hes breath and iron sight is better in winter warfare because it dosent give reflection and scope is not gonna get foggy. 505 kills with rifle and 200 more with smg. Only thing he said after war was
"Tein sen mitä käskettiin niin hyvin kuin osasin."
(I did what i was told to do as well as i could.)

Häyhä used a sniper position on civil guard weapons, M/28-30 "Spitz" rifle (serial number 60974), and unlike the Soviets opponents he preferred iron sights rather than telescopic sight. Lege, it was possible to obtain faster than the variable scope sight picture, in addition to having a glass fog up readily in the winter. Scope also sometimes reflected the light, revealing the location of the shooter at the same time.

What was needed was a squad level designated advanced marksman who would act in the "marksmanship gap" zone from the 300m top out of the standard rifleman up to the lower operational envelope of the dedicated sniper teams who would take care of long range sniping out past 600m. These men were not true 'snipers' in the meaning of they did not freely roam detached from their unit stalking targets but instead were embedded inside a regular rifle squad and supported that unit exclusively.

Bravery, as I and many consider it, is to fight for something. (Most of the time) Often your nation. How you do it, doesn't really matter. (Except in some circumstances) If you shoot somebody from a distance, you're fighting for your nation. If you shoot somebody at a close distance, you're fighting for your nation.

That could be a reason another reason is the scope can give away your position with a glint, he also packed the snow down around him so the gun blast didn't throw up snow and even kept snow in his mouth so his breath did not give him away

How long "after the war" and nothing is impossible, Simo took a bullet to the face, survived, killed the guy who shot him, and got back to a medic by himself. The 500 sniper kills wouldn't have been impossible to get since the soviets attacked with a 3 to 1 advantage to the Fins, which makes it completely possible, Simo was in combat slightly less than 100 days

Aye you are correct. A Sniper is the person using the weapon. and the type of rifles are "commonly" called sniper rifles. Same way Marksman rifles are used by Marksmen. The kind of weapons themselves vary. and Simo is a sniper indeed. using a Mosin-Nagan M28/30 without scope. as the russians would otherwise see the light reflection of the scope. hes an amazing man. All Finnish are imho!

Telescopic sight would also require raising the head of a few centimeters higher, which could be fatal. In addition, Häyhä developed especially wintry conditions suitable shooter tactics and technology. For instance, he froze the snow with water, so the snow would not trip the fly, and had snow in his mouth so that his breath resulting water vapor would not reveal the shooter.

The Belgish special troops from Resist and Bite, this sniper super assasine from this movie and then these guys like Hans Ulrich Rudel.

Well, if you wanna go that deeply into it, he didn't use any M24s, M40s, M200s or M4s. Since he (According to my understanding of the movie) is not currently a member of the United States army, his weapons should not be designated with their army names, but rather by the production names: Remington 700, Remington 700 modified, CheyTac Intervention and AR-15.

It's pretty common to shoot with your off shoulder in urban terrain combat. There are however two schools. One is simply switching your grip and the other one is switching shoulder but keeping the same grip. The later is of course impossible if you have a larger fire arm.
