  • Thanks 2 Frank is an all-original Warren Cuccurullo rock guitar masterpiece.
The album is named, of course, due to Warren's great respect and admiration for Frank Zappa. He has often said in interviews that if not for Frank, he would not have his career...that he owes it all to him.
Hence, Thanks 2 Frank. However, there are no Frank Zappa songs on the album...these are all Warren's.
He recorded the album live, with no overdubs, in two days (August 20 and 28, 1994) in Metropolis Studios, London, except for the title track, which was recorded July 7, 1994 at 2:30 AM, at his first solo show, at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ.
He also handled all production duties. Written during the 10 day period before his Stone Pony solo show (except for "Galactic Ballerina," which was written later), these songs are a mix of precision and passion.

The track on the album is a virtuoso whirlwind tour through just about every Zappa guitar style, starting and ending with the acoustic part you hear in the video, but building through from Frank's lighter electric styles to the out and out gonzo PA ripping wah-driven tones of the Roxy era. It's clearly a technical tribute to Frank, but also a heartfelt emotional one too. The rest of the album is amazing too!

Mom's not doing well and you disowning 2,3rds of your family is just sad and without dad and mom you never would've ever had a guitar let alone play it as well as any great player but here's a little secret you've always been my favorite guitarist songwriter and producer and brother for the most part in my life, see you on the other side!!!

I got to meet Warren when he lived on or around Remsen ave back in 1976 or 77'. A bass player and good friend of mine Robert Wendel took me over to his apartment to meet him . Warren was trying to get a band formed . He was known to be one of the best guitarist in Canarsie at the time so I felt honored just to meet him and was nervous as if I was meeting a famous musician . I was highly self conscious that I could barely play the instrument . He showed me A Led Zeppelin book if I remember right and said I needed to learn a few songs from that book . Not having confidence in myself I never went back .
As a guitarist who was highly self critical of my bad sounding playing I never felt I could play a cover song as well as the original artist . I didn't realize that studio recorded music sounded so good because it was the sound of whole bands with a lot of repetitious practice ,do overs and other stuff that made the music sound so good .So for years I just wrote my own material music and lyrics until I finally raised a family and started my own band with two of my children when they were in their teens .
I finally got to be in a band and get paying gigs and had audiences who seemed to like the music as when we'd play out , the crowds of people in the restaurant we played at would become silent by our second song and would be fixated on the band .I learnt if you have the audience dead silent and all eyes of the band , it means they like the material they are hearing . If everyone is talking and not paying attention to the band then the band is nothing more than back ground music and needs to gather better material to capture the audiences attention. The audience decides if the music is good .They are the litmus paper .
We also met Clarence Clemons , the sax player from Bruce Springsteen band and played a few times with him In WPB Fl. He wanted to do studio work with us but I passed him up on the offer .He was only interested in his career as he wasn't getting royalties from the Bruce Springsteen 's E-Street band and Bruce was playing solo gigs at the time so Clarence was an unemployed musician at the time .
When my daughter hit 18 years old , she flew the coop and started her own band with a heavier more grungier sound. So I .....like Clarence at the time ,am an unemployed musician .
I often wonder what ever became of Warren's sister's life . I was in her Kindergarten class and had a crush on her at the time .She was the prettiest girl in the class. She was also in my 10th grade class in Canarsie H.S.. I never had the nerve to talk to her . In that class we read a book about some guy who lived in the wilderness in British Columbia who after the war he was in ,he was returning home after the war and was so glad of victory that he shot a bear on his way home for no reason .
When the teacher ask our opinion of this guy I said something about him not being a good person for shooting the bear . The teacher didn't like me in that class and she didn't like my opinion and she said so, as if I was wrong for having that opinion . And for some reason Stephanie started saying out loud that she also thought the man was wrong for shooting the bear . I was glowing because I felt this gal who I had a crush for 10 years ,yet was too shy to ever tell her , was defending me and my opinion .Sometimes in life we pass up opportunities and years later wonder why . The opportunity to tell someone you like them and the opportunity to start a band with one of the best guitarist of my time. He won battle of the bands in Canarsie ya know !
Sorry to hear Warren has strayed from his family . My mom died this year . She was going to leave me everything because my brother did well in life with 2 pensions and I didn't . I said to her no we will equally share what you leave behind when you pass away . He took care of my mom , didn't let me talk with her for the time she lived with him . And he had the will changed and took everything and left me with only one thousand dollars . He got the automobile and all the money from the sale of her house .
. I got over it after a month and still relate with him .Estranged ? only if he decides . Life is short ..hold no grudges. Vindictive behavior is ugly and something worth avoiding .
