This is the superhero film that should’ve been nominated for best picture
Yes, although it was nominated for best adapted screenplay which is nothing to be ashamed of. Dafne Keen should have got more recognition though. She was outstanding. Some time look up her audition video with Huge Jackman. Her mother asked if she could ad-lib her part in Spanish, and you could just feel how Jackman was stunned by her outburst. You don't even need to understand Spanish to understand the emotion in her performance.
i agree. tbh it wasn't even a superhero movie because it didn't have all the bells and whistles of your typical marvel/DC movie. it was more of a story-driven, realistic, western with characters who happen to have special abilities. that's what i love so much about movies like this and the dark knight trilogy - they're just masterful stories with great characters.
@@user-vc5rp7nf8f this is marvel bruh
@@tarmaque I haven’t seen her audition video but I can only imagine how good it was. She is a really good actress and she has gone on to do some really good work, most notably more recently in the series His Dark Materials. I truly hope we see her in more productions in the future.
@@danielwhyatt3278 I've heard good things about it, but haven't searched it out yet. I agree, we need to see more of her.
Just because a movie is sad, doesn't make it bad. This is quite literally the best movie by far out of the whole x-men series and i won't let anyone tell me otherwise.
fax. It's the best send off for a character I've ever seen
Best x-men movie I’ve ever seen
I agree, as good as some of the other movies are, I liked this one better than the rest of them because of the emphasis on him actually having a daughter, and his mortality finally coming to its end.
As much as I hated to see him die, it would have eventually had to happen, and now the potential for future films with the daughter in it them will allow the legend if the wolverine to carry on if they can actually write decent storyline without Stan Lee, which I think that they can if they do not get to political with it as Hollywood has recently become.
I'm sick of Hollywood, and their attempt at getting "woke," which is nothing but a disaster for everyone.
@@kimdearrington258 YOUR need to bring YOUR politics into a subject/topic/board that has nothing to do with politics is what is a "DISASTER".
Take your hatred for WOKENESS to a political board. Or at least to a conversation where the conversation is "political". You are the one who is shoving your "politics" around here.
@@kimdearrington258 You had me in the first half, then you lost me with the proverbial political cherry on top at the end. A lot of being woke really consists of simple concept that all used to embrace and praise, but at some point started being forgotten. Sure, some ideas have been expanded on over time, some too far for their own good. Essentially it all comes down to simple human goodness, like, don't leave other kids out when it's times to play a game, stand up for others and what's right, the golden rule. People act like it's so wrong to instill these messages in pieces of art amongst whatever medium the creator chooses. I honestly don't understand how people have turned qualities like I mentioned above into such negative traits to embrace and promote in society.
The best Wolverine-Movie with a perfect Ending.
Agree.
But he died
Perfect ending?
Perfect ending
No, the best X-men movie with a perfect ending.
"worst thing ever!" lmao. NO, it was beautiful and an end. You watched the beginning with First Class, the middle with the X-men trilogy and now you got to see how it ended. Everyone gets old. Everyone dies. Even Charlies and Logan.
they're used to marvel and their happy endings lol
@@VuNguyen-bo2cm Well, being used to marvel, i would have expected him to be resurrected in some way in the future if not for the actor being done with this character ^^ In the comics it's crazy how they have trouble to develop a character and give it a proper end. They'd rather have a dozen arcs going all over the place ! :D
Look at that mess : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolverine_(character)
@@VuNguyen-bo2cm I know right I was laughing so hard at the end of this video. They're used to those crappy Disney MCU movies, they don't even know what a good movie is anymore. Lol
Agreed. Wolverine was a soldier at his core and it was a great send off with him fighting to the death for his family.
@@keithnayo4582 also they like endgame but not infinity war lul
I saw Logan twice in theaters and both times the entire theater (myself included) cried our eyes out.
For me the emotional impact is threefold.
1) Because this one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life, even if it wasn’t a comic book movie I would love it to death.
2) I was 10 years old when the first X-Men movie came out so I literally grew up with Hugh Jackman as my Wolverine so seeing him end his reign as this character was both heartbreaking and rewarding to watch because this is the perfect way to close out the story of Logan.
3) My mother passed away 18 months before this movie came out after almost 10 years of fighting cancer, so seeing the deaths of both Charles and Logan was extremely emotional to watch. But in a way it was cathartic to watch because like Charles and Logan she had fought her heart out longer than anyone else possibly could’ve in her condition and after fighting for so long she had earned her rest.
Fuck cancer 😉👍
✊
First, sorry about your mother.😔🙏🏿
Second, I agree. I never shed a tear at a movie before until this one! I was cool with wolverine dying in battle! He went out like a man! But, when he was dying with Laura crying over him saying “daddy!“, I lost it and I heard a few sobs in the theater myself! Mostly from the men!
In my mind, the X-Men series ended here! I don’t count Deadpool because to me that’s its own thing!
When She says “daddy…” as he dies it kills me. As a single dad of sweetheart daughter s this pet kills me every time, tears!
I’m not a father, but it got to me too! I could live with wolverine dying in battle. But that part with Laura got me and you’re not the only one sir. The theater I was in, I heard a few sobs, mostly from the men!
Haven’t death scene for me to watch way too sad
That moment when she says that just absolutely breaks your heart but it is also so beautiful. It feels like it connects right back to the movie The Wolverine (my second favourite) so well considering the telling of the future in that and the emotional connection it has.
RIP To Logan
The adamantium covering his bones is killing him.
Plus if you believe matrick patthew from film theory, his super-genes were also failing anyway.
Exactly, his healing factor had stopped the metal poisoning but his mutant lowers are fading with age. So the poisoning take a hold
@@thehistoryexpert82 I wouldn't even say from old age yet. His healing factor is off the charts without the adamantium and it's held back a lot with it due to the poisoning. Then, along with whatever they added to the food/water, killed it off even more. He'd be fine living longer if they hadn't tainted the food supply.
@@Rusaarules The designer toxics in the water the explanation for Xavier's decay too
The adamantium on his bones isn't what's killing him. It's the adamantium in his brain. The bullets from Stryker. X Men Origins Wolverine literally killed Logan.
I don't think anyone has hurt Wolverine as much as Laura did when she said "Then I'll be fine."
"...But we took you in; gave you a family. What a disappointment you are."
🖤🖤
It’s called life, Ellie. Charles lived a long life, and Logan lived several.
Logan was dying of Adamantium poisoning because of the fact that his healing abilities were diminished. He'd been poisoned by the Adamantium all along, but when his healing factor was stronger, it could protect him from it. Some people speculate that his powers diminished with age, others that the GMO food the Doctor created to suppress mutant genes, might have been the cause. The clone, X-24 was an imperfect clone according to director, James Mangold. He healed smaller injuries quickly, but when he was impaled on that farm equipment, he needed that injection to handle all those major wounds. They also used a much thinner coating of Adamantium on his bones, which is why the bullet was able to blow apart so much of his skull. When Charles said that he remembered what happened in Westchester. He was saying that he finally remembered that he'd had one of his seizures and killed all of the other X-Men.
honestly i thought he was dying from the poisoning because of The Wolverine (2013) movie where he goes to Japan, at the end of the movie the bad guy in the giant suit chopped his claws off and started to drain his healing factor allowing the adamantium poisoning to exceed his healing abilities causing his body to slowly degrade over the years.
Yukio foreshadowed Wolverines death in "The Wolverine" when she says "I see you own your back, there is blood everywhere. You're holding your own heart in your hand..." His heart, meaning Laura of course. Good stuff.
But that was in the original timeline before Wolverine went back in time and helped stop the creation of the Sentinels
exactly... ❤
@@joshuaphillips7927 Yes, but it still would've happened.
She said "it's not beating" - what does it mean in that case? And no, she would say "you're holding hand of a little girl", or what is the point of your predictions if you know he can't understand them?
@@user-xx6vy9ri8p He wasn't supposed to understand. Also, her visions are not 100% accurate in detail. She says "it is like looking through a key hole."
This by far the best X-men/Wolverine movie. Ask yourselves: did you ever feel scared for the heroes in any of the other movies you watched? No, a sad ending can make a movie ten times better. There are several video essays on CZcams analyzing Logan and the state of the superhero movie genre I encourage y'all to watch them to help understand why this is the best superhero movie ever!
I did feel scared for the mutants watching Days of Future Past. I do every time I watch it. It's also timelessly thrilling, funny and exciting. This movie is timelessly depressing and that's about it.
Oh definitely have to agree. Logan is probably the greatest out of all of the X-Men movies. The second for me would have to be The Wolverine where Logan is in Japan. That was actually beautifully done and is pretty the second most mature and deeply rich out of all the X-Men movies. After that of course you have the Deadpool movies which are in a category all of their own really.
Professor X, in his diminishing health, had one of his dangerous seizures, and it resulted in him devastatingly and accidentally killing half of the X-Men. They allude to it in the movie, but it's never explicitly stated out loud.
And it was a great decision. We know what happened and understand that Logan only survived due his cure factor.
Didn't he kill everyone in the mansion? 'Cept Logan ofc
Not half. Everyone.
So I have a theory based on your comment nice btw.
Theory: Maybe while Charles is at the school one day with Cerebro looking at all the mutants searching for more to bring to the X-men team he has a seizure which causes him to kill all the mutants except Logan who is the only one left to pull him out of it .
Just a thought idk 😂😊
@@anxiousdreamers7120 - If you want to provide the evidence, I'm all eyes (and ears).
In this future, the X-Men are all dead because they were killed by one of Charles' seizures. New mutants were made extinct by genetically modified crops.

Before the world cried for IRON MAN
We cried for WOLVERINE
Iron Mans death and funeral was nothing but a cheap knock off of Logans
@@LukeLovesRose that doesn't even make sense.
very different funerals. And I mean...there's so many ways you can do a funeral lol
@@afxboc Nothing about Tony's funeral felt natural. It felt like staged nonsense mascarading as a sad moment
This is more or less it's own storyline. A perfect one none the less.
The adamantium in his body is what was killing him, it had a toxic effect on Logan's body, so he grew old, so he did not heal quickly and he felt weak.
He's also 200 years old. Even with his healing ability, the body can only fix itself for so long before it gets weak. Lobsters and crocodilians are functionally immortal because they don't age, but even they don't live forever.
Also, Logan had been unwittingly taking Mr. Sinister's anti-mutant formula like everyone else.
No it wasn't the adamantium, it was the food they were eating, the gmo corn was modified with the anti x-gene formula and corn products are basically in everything, this is why most mutants were gone and why Charles was affected too. The small town doctor would have worked it out. If they had got out too sea they most probably would have healed based on their diet
@@thenewinquisition2392 It's a little of that, but mostly adamantium. It's established canon in the comics that adamantium is highly toxic. Logan's healing factor should actually be a LOT better than it is, but it's actually at about half strength because it's constantly fighting off the effects of adamantium poisoning. This was seen in the comic story arc where Magneto took away Logan's adamantium and he was just a regular dude with bone claws and a waaaay better healing ability. With time, age, and probably that gmo corn too, his healing ability was losing the fight against the adamantium. If he hadn't been killed by X-24, he would have died probably within the next decade or so.
Yukio from The Wolverine did say “you die with your own heart in your hand”
Then Logan died holding Laura’s hand.
An old man dies, a little girl lives
Fair trade 😔😪
Not even the Academy was able to recognize Hugh Jackman's performance
That's why they no longer have eligibility
You may like the movie but it was hardly a standout performance.
Yeah the Jake Gyllenhaal was also completely ignored for his performance in nightcrawler. Like wtf
Logan in such a great movie in it self. A great goodbye to Wolverines story.
While DC has THE DARK KNIGHT

@@asiaroberson3442 Endgame is shit.
The young buffed version of Logan was played by Hugh Jackman. The characters name is X-24. Hugh Jackman was purposely made to look older for the role of Logan. He filmed the Logan parts first. Then he bulked up and filmed the X-24 stuff.
In old man Logan is she X-24? I mean i know there was plenty of other clones of her from the Weapon X experiments, but i am sure X-23 was the "perfect weapon" ??
X24 is correct.
@@timlanteigne298 okay caught me off guard when you said X-24 lol i was positive she was was X-23 😅
@@razz2552 my bad, I fat fingered that. Fixed.
Incorrect. X24 was played by a body double with insanely good CG over the face.
This movie was taken from the comic book series "old man Logan" and it is a stand alone story, meaning it's not truly a part of the main story. However, it is in a way, because Hugh Jackman will no longer be playing Wolverine.
He can sing in the next 😉
There are rumors that he and Charles might return in the next Dr strange movie... But as I said just a rumor at this point.
He's coming back as wolverine in Deadpool 3
Ellie only want happy endings... Logan is a fucking masterpiece.
I know, these are 2 grown a** kids! 😂
Hugh Jackman has been playing Wolverine for nearly 20 years. His character had to come to an end eventually.
Laura, known in the comics as X-23, is a clone of Wolverine. But Logan actually has a son named Daken, who is a villain. It's the adamantium in his body that's killing him slowly. He's older, which means his healing factor isn't as effective like previously.
It's a beautiful end to Wolverine's story. There's this younger version of himself that's being used as a weapon, which is the thing he hates about himself. He fights it and protects people from it. In the end, instead of Logan using it on himself, the adamantium bullet kills the evil weapon version of Logan. And he gets to tell his daughter the lesson Xavier taught him: you don't have to be what they made you.
Can we just talk about the fact that this little girl held her own with Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart, and she did it mostly through facial expressions and body language?
Check out her audition here:

@@dr.burtgummerfan439 Whoa
She was AMAZING. Does anybody knows if she was in any other movies after Logan???
Tied for #1 with Dark Knight as my favorite Super hero movie.
Lol man... somebody needs to make a compilation of the things that fly over the heads of these two
They may be attractive but let's be honest there's not much upstairs.
Lmao!!! God don’t give with both hands.
With due respect to the two young ladies that are reviewing this movie and reacting to it, just because this movie is sad does not make it bad. It’s arguably the best of the X-Men series!
Wolverines adamantium skeleton is what is poisining him. The very thing that gives him claws and strong bones is killing him despite his healing. Hence its weaker and weaker.
His mutation is what gave him claws. The Adamantium just coated the claws and his skeleton
No, he already had claws. They were just made of bone before his entire skeleton was covered in adamantium.
30:18 He means it can go through his skull, which like his whole skeleton is coated in adamantium. Laura only has her claws coated.
She can also heal faster than Wolverine because she doesn't have adamantium to slow it. "The worse movie ever" 😄 Yeah this was an end of an era for sure. Alot of people grew up with these characters and actors.
If you want to know what is poisoning Wolverine is his metal Adamantium. Reason he still alive the whole time within Adamantium is his speed regeneration.
Onions! It's not tears, I swear! It's just onions!
Wolverine has Adamantium fused to his skeleton - not a problem as long as he had all his healing-abilities...
But his healing was not working properly any more, so the Adamantium poisoned him and killed him in horrible ways.
Death was a relief for him.
Maybe, his healing got suppressed by this "cure" that ended mutations in human population. (I am not sure about that.)
in the movie The Wolverine when the Asian woman with a samurai sword said ‘’ I saw you dying holding your heart in your hand’’, this was the vision she saw , his heart was his daughter . 38:31
I've never seen "Whoa, Gun" before.
"Logan" is the best X-Men movie, by far. Xavier was suffering, and Logan wanted to die. It wasn't sad; it was happy. They spent the last days of their lives helping others. It's beautiful.
i wouldn´t say that. i would say "logan and the deadpool movies are the best xmen movies by far" ^^
No one ever acknowledges how she took a bullet for Charles at the beginning. Best moment in the film that everyone misses.
27:20 As with a lot of scenes shot in all movies, several takes were done of the cab scene, and Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) needed to swear at Dafne Keen (X-23; she's also an accomplished gymnast and martial artist, so she did most of her stunts in the movie). At the end of all that, Jackman went up to Dafne Keen's mother and apologized for swearing at Dafne, adding that he has a child her age. Mrs. Keen replied: "That's okay. She called you a c*nt. In Spanish."
36:04 X-24 was created, just like X-23 and the mutant kids were.
Jackman was also happy to make this movie, as the role of the Wolverine required a lot of physical action, and Jackman knew he was getting too old to keep playing the role.
I must say, this is one of my favorite movies. Love the reactions, and thanks for watching it!
Finally the BEST superhero movie EVER!!!
Yea Hugh Jacksman the actor that is wolverine Logan was his last movie that was made.
Ellie been taking reacting Ls back to back bruh. Just because it’s a sad ending doesn’t mean it sucks lol. This is easily one of if not the best x-men movies.
Fun fact: Adamantium is reverse engineered Virbanium (the stuff Black Panther uses).
Is this canon knowledge or fan fiction?
@@jellalfernandes1309 Canon according to Marvel. Though obviously with the MCU not introducing mutants yet, its not been mentioned in the movies.
Sometimes for what has begun comes to an end, "but with every ending comes to a new beginning."
The X at the end was just perfection
This movie is depressing and sad and there are actually people who don't like it because of that. But many people do because it is so different than any other marvel movie and took risks. Personally I love this movie because yeah it is a end of a era but it sticks with you of how much good these characters are especially in this movie. Also, hugh Jackman was getting old and he wanted to end it, plus because disney was buying the x-men rights and so this was a once of a life time opportunity for fox studio to go all in.
I think in a Marvel movie the tone wouldn't work as well, but Logan's story - it couldn't be told in any other way. Theres too much weight to it that it couldn't be a 'super hero movie'. They did it justice with this.
I don't know, I think it's a very good movie in most respects, but I don't like it all the same. If it was a stand alone thing I'd probably love it, but the movie basically says that everything the X-men fought and died for was pointless, and the bad guys pretty much win in the end. I don't need a happy ending, but damn this was bleak.
@@SunwardRanger83 well I can understand what you mean. But I don't think is bleak. Well is kinda bleak but there is some hope in it. The kids survived, they made across the borders, and logan left a big legacy for the children. Is kinda like "I am legend", logan and the rest of the x-men may be gone but their legacy did not and they always remember that.
Depressing doesnt make any movie superior. Days of Future Past is just as smart and beautifully written, and it's fun, exciting, thrilling and sad
38:31 Quote from Yukio in the movie, The Wolverine: "I see you on your back. There's blood everywhere. You're holding your own heart in your hand..." ... she was right ... her visions always come true.
They will never get it.
Have the girls not watched X2? How do they not know that Wolverine has an Adamantium Skeleton?
This may be the best movie Marvel has ever made.
The metal inside him was killing him that’s what they kept saying
Wolverine adamantium bones is killing him by poisoning him , to long in is body , and not forget Logan is verry verry old (200+ old), so all good thing ,have and sad ending
I guess you forgot that Deadpool said that Wolverine died in his movie so Deadpool was going to blow himself up.
Now you can finally understand all the Wolverine references in Deadpool 2.
Fun fact: They did all of Jackman's old man scenes first, which required a lot of makeup and hair dye. Then they shaved his beard, gave him a makeover and shot all of his clone scenes.
Too many people think that it's digital mask but no, Jackman just looks younger than he is.
The same "cure" that erased the mutant factor on the population was blocking most of wolverine's cure factor. without it, the Adamantium in his body was killing him.
Movie explains why Logan isn’t healing 20 times.
Elle- I don’t understand why he isn’t healing. Lol
I remember as a kid, seeing the first X-Men movie with Hugh Jackman in the film. Now, twenty years later, when I saw this film, Logan, I knew it was a perfect send off for his character.
Don't be sad, Logan finally get to rest and have peace after all those centuries of suffering, torture, guilt and losing everyone he loved.
The best X-Men movie by far. I can't believe you guys didn't like it... maybe a rewatch will change your minds 🤷🏻♂️
I doubt it; they seem like the type who always want happy endings. Which is boring to me but whatever
Stories with happy endings are called comedies, stories with unhappy endings are called tragedies. This is a tragedy. Many of the best books and movies and plays are tragedies. You have to realize that you have to take both. "In the real world people die."
I don't think they understand what the real world is.
You’re wrong.
i'd argue the kids getting away and all the people looking for them dead is an objectively happy ending
@@sangun123 I'd like to push your argument a little further by suggesting that Logan wanted to die and this was the HONOURABLE DEATH that Yukio suggested all warriors strive for (see The Wolverine). I gave a small sigh of relief at the end of this movie to think that Logan was finally at rest, there was "an end to his pain" and finally someone he loved didn't die. (although we don't know what is in store for X23 and the New Mutants). So not an utter tragedy BUT you have to admit this is a looooooooooooooong ways away from the happy ending found, lets say, at the end of Much Ado About Nothing.
This was, BY FAR, the best Wolverine movie. This is set in the future. If you paid attention, all of the other mutants in the world were dead. Charles killed all of the other X-Men accidentally when his Dementia kicked in. Xavier in his his 90's, and everyone else is gone. Laura will now carry the torch for her dad and be the new Wolverine. High Jackman played Wolverine for 17 years through 11 movies. This was a great way to get closure for most fans.
Technically lura is a clone of wolverine but the male gene was damaged so they used female genes, so she is like half clone/ half daughter
I was about to say she is basically a clone using Logan's DNA from the same Weapon X program
Never too sure if they understand the movies they’re watching.
Hands down
BEST MOVIE OF 2017
Logan lived for a very long time, he's earned some rest.
Hugh Jackman the one and only wolverine
The best x movie ever made by far. You 2 also missed alot of context during the film.
This is also supposed to take place in the future so the events leading up to this have not been portrayed yet. Like what Xavier was talking about just before he died. I love that they took the chance to see what the end of these characters looked like.
The adamantium that is grafted to his skeleton is radioactive and in this adaptation it is what is killing him. His healing factor couldn't keep up with it after all the years and it slowed/stopped.
Honestly this is easily one of the best movies I've every watched. It is sad and dark, sure, but it is emotional... something a lot of movies lack now. And it was a great ending to Hugh Jackman's long run as Wolverine.
Oh, and X24 is a clone.. the one made after Laura, who is X23. The 23rd clone of Weapon X (Wolverine). In the comics they tried to clone Wolverine 22 times using a male, but it didn't work. They tried a female and for some reason it took. There is no X24 in the comics. Thats just for this movie.
Grown ass man and tears were rolling down in the theaters. When she called him dad or daddy and when she turned his cross into an X.
This X-men movie is not a superhero movie. It’s a western in a dystopian future. Perhaps if you’d known that you would have been more prepared to enjoy this movie for what it is (which is great, though very sad). The whole theme of “There are no more guns in the valley.” is very strong and emotional.
An Oscar nominee for best adapted screenplay, Logan is a brilliant Western road movie that happens to feature mutants
Well, as the comic "Logan" is: Logan and Xavier in the final of his lives.
The girl is called: X-23, and she is very famous among the fans of X-Men. That's why the name of the guy who killed Wolverine is X-24.
Deadpool does say at the beginning of Deadpool 2 that Wolverine dies lol he says he has too just to match what happens in Logan

The saddest scene i remember most was Logan death's scene, and seeing Logan dies was the closest to see how my dad suffered, before to die. This channel puts out so much content I love it!
the way they filmed old wolverine and his young clone son was , they had the actor who played logan do all of the old version scenes then he got into shape and did the fight scenes of the younger version vs the old version
It makes sense, how old is Wolverine. All those years of having adamantium is his system. Everytime he retracts his claws all the blood of people he's sliced or stabbed, all the metal (some rusty) he's cut like doors and fire escapes mixing with his blood, it's gotta do something to you

BUT this time it had a "meaning" the movie isn't bad, it's a SAD story, it's okay to not like sad, things, but the movie is in NO WAY a bad movie, it's actually one of the BEST. Logan has wanted to die for SO long because he has basically lived multiple life periods, and he watches everyone die but he keeps living, the downside of "inmortality". That's always been his trait, or a prominent one. This was even touched on every single X Men Movie, and both Origins and "The Wolverine". You should learn to see the "beauty" of a tragic story.
Remember what yukio said, he will die holding his own heart on his hand, Laura was his heart
