- I was completely blown away and honored to have won the Online Old Time Banjo Contest this weekend. This was one of my submissions for the final round. If anyone would like to learn this tune, I have a video lesson with tab at ozarkbanjo.com...
Watching and listing to this is why I, and other like minded musicians adore playing this, the friendliest and most companionable of instruments. It always delivers happiness, good feeling, and puts a smile on the face, come sunshine or cloud. You should observe an infant's joy on first hearing a banjo being plucked!
My current neighbour might choose to think differently, but then again she also hates trees.
Love the peg-head inlay and congrats on winning the Old Time Contest.
I'm not at all surprised to learn you won; you're the best frailing banjo player I've ever heard. Nobody plays like you.
Lucas, you sound fantastic as always...Jack Baker NJ
Beautifully played on a beautiful banjo built by you !
Love your 2 finger/clawhammer integration. I'm trying that on cripple creek, but mine sounds like I ran out of paint and finished the wall with the wrong shade. Definitely need to subscribe to you to immerse myself in your artistry.
could be the most pleasant banjo i ever heard. harmonics on a banjo so nice, like a dream, and waking back out of the harmonic,
Beautiful!…you made something so hard to play that way look so effortless …and inspiring…thanks. 🤝
Congratulations and Bravo! Beautiful playing!
Beautiful!
I continue to be inspired by both your banjo building craftsmanship and playing. Thanks.
Thank you for this....
Truly FANTASTIC 👏....wonderful musicial artistry as well as luthiery....!!!!
Awesome.
As per usual , that was awesome !!
Thanks Mike!
Very beautiful piece of music.
What a fantastic rendition. Been a fan of Norah Brown’s version , this too is top ! Thankyou
Damn that was awesome man.
Definitely prefer the 2 finger over the clawhammer. If I can get myself to start practicing a decent amount, I might try the 2 finger style out.
Congrats on your well deserved win!
Outstanding! I hope you teach us students how to play like this.
Super
Been enjoying your videos. I noticed you use drop thumb a lot, do you recommend elevating your wrist? Trying to get it down but im used to keeping my wrist against the head.
You should really consider doing some pro recordings for sale and to put on streaming services!
Thanks! We were halfway through making a new Cd when the pandemic hit. Hopefully when everything‘s open again we will finish it up!
Is this the same version as the tab available on your website?
Same version, I teach this tune two finger style and Clawhammer 👍
Oh my days you literally said as much in the description... 😳
I just checked out your CZcams Channel, it’s awesome!! Do you also play Banjo?
@@theozarkbanjoco.byedenluka5036 Thanks! I do play the banjo. It's an instrument I've played on and off for a little while but have only just recently picked it up with the determination to play daily and improve as much as I can. Your style is certainly one I try to imitate as much as possible in terms of the general poise and subtlety you bring to the instrument which is not something you see with every clawhammer player. Appreciate your work 🙏
Man I want to learn this tune, but that f#dead tuning is a bear to get into and sound decent. Anyone got tips on how to do it? Really thick strings?
Do you only have the clawhammer tutorial or do you have the tutorial for the 2 finger style?
Do you have lessons?
Absolutely, here’s a link to the lessons. ozarkbanjo.com/clawhammer-banjo-lessons
Very subtile music indeed... more than banjo
Tuning?
Beautiful!
