I remember your 1st time you two watched GLS and towards the end the tears started and you realized how special she is and the perfect fit for Nightwish. That was true emotions I loved that.

Floor was a great singer long before she joined Nightwish! That's why they asked her to help then when they were in trouble, because they knew her for years!! They actually wanted her after Tarja left but didn't want to take her away from After Forever because the were friends with the band and didn't want to break them up! Floor wouldn't have left AF anyway at that time because she loved being with them and was in a relationship with one of the band at the time!! She WAS ALWAYS GREAT!!

Just seen Nightwish in Silver Springs and all i can say is holy shit Floor is the best live singer i have ever seen and it is not even close (and i been to over 100 concerts) If you get a chance to see Nightwish and Floor it is a must
After Forever was on tour with and opened for Nightwish back in the day.
2002 and they stayed in touch so it was not out off the blue they concidered Floor to step in.
Oh man, the nostalgia! I miss these days & these gigs, After Forever is/was always a favorite of mine. I remember going to a meet-up back in 2006 when they were still recording this album, when we all (the fanclub) got to come to the studio and they gave us a sneak preview of a few new tracks, they performed a few other ones, and we all hit up a pancake restaurant after…good times, good times.

Another After Forever connection to Ayreon is the keyboardist in this video - he is Sir Joost Van Den Broek who you see in all of the on stage Ayreon videos - Joost still works with Floor on some of her solo stuff - the growling guitarist is Sander Gommans who Floor was dating back in those days - he continued on with Kiske-Somerville and other projects and is, fact, married to Amanda Somerville who is an American background singer with Avantasia, Trillum and Exit Eden and they have 3 children together - the guitarist that sang early on has been with Doro for over 10 years now

But part of it I felt was not simply just them being so perfect but almost as if everything was to blended in the album one. Some of the separation in vocals and other parts was lost a little. Where as this live one was not so leveled out

Ever since Floor started in the front of After Forever (in the beginning, she was chorus and guitarist) - she just went Stratospheric. She is possibly the most versatile and powerful singer ever. Her transitions between the genres are unmatched. And she has always been a complete powerhouse on stage, with the ability to engage with the audience like very very few others.

She is, as Freddie was, and many of her mannerisms are like his. She has deep admiration and respect for him, and they share many similarities - both are exceptional artists.

My first touch on Floor was about 2010 and it was "energize me" by After Forever.. After i heard that, i wished someday she would be a Nightwish singer Forever... that was time when Annette Olson was the lead singer and dont get me wrong, they have good songs still, but Annette was too "pop" voice for me at the time.... years go by and the year 2018 i saw the "ghost Love Score" official from Wacken and was WTF!!!? and after that i became Nightwish fan again... And Floor fan for sure...
I too had to listen to this a few times when I first heard it. The more I heard it the more I liked it though. Also was a nice ending of the video and showing hitting the subscribe button on Floor's CZcams channel was a nice touch.

I was at this exact show - it was recorded at ProgPower in Atlanta 2007. I had never heard of After Forever or Floor. I was not a huge fan of female fronted bands (typically guy BS). By the end of the first song I was a lifelong convert. Sad to see After Forever disband soon after this. Then came reVamp and Nightwish. She is by a mile my favorite singer. As far as I'm concerned can do no wrong and I will listen to anything she's involved in.
I was at the same ProgPower!!! Glenn has shown us SO many bands over the years. After Forever was one of those. Now how about Anneke?

I shared Wolf's (and Sistah's later) experience in that I heard some Ayreon too. A bit of Arjen's "Transitus" movie-turned-album horror as well as earlier Ayreon as well.

Beginning of nightwish, she's did not use operatic voice first in 2012. Now she use opera some songs in live 2015 -2022
I think I may have commented this elsewhere but one of my biggest concert regrets is not seeing After Forever when they played PowerProg in ATL in like 2007.

She did a lot of great work in Ayreon too

Just briljant. never listened much to floor pre nightwish work.. But this is really, really good stuff....And live it was even better, damm.
Floor is not from this world. But this proves she has done this all her life. On this level. Difficult to comprehend. And we can add another Octave to her bandwidth.... I lost count. She indeed is THE Valkery of the world. No wonder Nightwish asked her when the shit hitted the fan. Arjen Lucassen often use her as the nuclear bomb that blows out the song at the end. After all the other more than amazing singers had their part. Since I discovered Floor I believe in aliens. I'm a believer 🤩😉

The influence that Floor now has for Nightwish says Tuomas in a recent interview (2 years ago?): "...if Floor somtimes decides to leave Nightwish it will definitely be the end of the band...!
Its good for sure, its all about the songs. Tuomas has that edge. Sometimes bands try to hard, to me thats what im hearing . IMO. Song has to have hooks and ear candy. But ive always been a sucker for melody. In a radio kind of way, if that makes any sense

After Forever was Nighwish’s more heavy and prog sister that unfortunately fell due to a bad label contract. Floor wrote all the lyrics in After Forever and ReVamp,I prefer her writing over Tuomas’. What I find bizzare is that she doesn’t write her own solo work.
Yeah Tuomas needs to give us more of Floor's classical voice. It's there in Nightwish now and then, but i want more. I think it's a clear choice of Tuomas though because when he ditched the classical voice (with Anette), they sold more albums than ever.

I don't think Annette had a classical voice, but I agree, I would love to see more of Floor's operatic parts in the music. There are already some beautiful pieces, but woulld love to see more :)
@@SuperMoofie It was Tuomas's own choice to chose a singer who hadn't a classical voice so he took a complete different route, and it was a succes. Imaginerium became the best sold Nightwish album ever and still is.
So i can imagine Tuomas is hesitate to do more classical stuff again. He simply doesn't want to go back to the Tarja era.
@@Harolddespui As I understand it, Floor wasn't available at that time due to her being with AF or she would have come in much earlier. Annette was then chosen. Of course it was his choice, and Floor's operatic sound is nothing like Tarja's. The band has evolved, so now he can do whatever he wants, and it will always combine the many voices of Floor. Imaginerium may have sold most copies, because the music appealed to a more mainstream audience due to Annette's poppy sound. It doesn't necessarily follow that way anymore.
@@SuperMoofie I'm pretty sure there are/were many Tarja-esque strictly opera singers that were willing to step in when Tarja left, so it looks more like Tuomas choosed to go for a complete different direction. Maybe he was done with the opera stuff at that time, i don't know. And yes, now with Floor he has the luxury that he can do what he wants.
I only wish he lets Floor do more classical/opera stuff.

Floor does not need her clothes to be tailored, she is a normal high for a Dutch person, they are quite tall in the Netherlands. The concert clothes are of course a different mater, they are always done to her size and so that she can easily move in them. Thank you for the double reaction.
The Dutch are the tallest people on earth, on average. Actually as a male, with 6'1 (1m85) I am only average for a Dutch male. However, allthough Dutch women are also the tallest on average, they are 1m70 on average (which is quite tall internationally), but Floor is 1m85, which is very tall even for a Dutch woman. She is in the top 2,5% with that.

After Forever's two first albums where much more symphonic gothic and not progressive. I prefer them much more than their last album, this one.
In this time After Forever was better then Nightwish in my opinion and as Mark Jansen leave AF, i bet that Floor and Nightwish come together.
