    My very first gaming PC that I bought when I graduated from high school in 1999 was a Falcon Northwest. I wish I kept the binder they sent along with the system. It was an amazing thing.

      Lucky! My first pc was HP Pavilion, 1998. Falcon NW is always my dream PC. But good thing is that I may finally get my dream pc as my big birthday coming up next year.

    That chime sound on the 4080/4090 mistake was actually a really nice touch to let the viewers/listeners know there was a mistake in the live recording. 6:11

    The mid-tower is a good-looking PC. Very clean layout inside. I bet this is a real beast when it comes to processing power. I like the attention to detail and the inclusion of the leftover parts.

    Oh yeah, these are my favorites! Very unique cases, and great attention to detail. You should see the UV Print they did on my Tiki and Fragbox, these are cases to keep for 20+ years, haha.

    Agree on the Mach V’s! I bought several, and was going to splurge on a painted one. Then it disappeared. Everyone always commented, and was rock solid. It had 6 wired hard drive bays. Beautiful painting rain options. Their CS is top-notch for tech support. Did they stop overclocking? Nearly every day I look for a Mach V painted to come across eBay.

    thought this was going to be an overview of the more retro fragboxes, i have fond memories of some of their models from the 2000s and badly wishing i could afford one.

    I own 3 NWFalcon desktops, i keep buying them because they last a long time, easy to fix, and have great warranty and customer support. I just wish i could trade in my old ones for a little credit on buying a new one lol.

    those are some really impressive systems. I love the density and low compromise approach. This might be called a boutique PC builder - but it's actual value behind the prebuilt.
    PCs shouldn't be large boxes of hot air.
    I am currently planing to build a workstation that should be about the size of the fragbox, and I am looking at cases from Silverstone. Since RTX 6000 Ada is really expensive. Dual 3090 ti has the same VRAM but can be get much cheaper. And compared to the 4090 which is much faster... You can NVlink them together, which I need for model inference and fine tuning.
    Massive 200mm Fan at the front would be neat, as top could fit dual 280 all copper radiators from Alphacool.

    Does the first party Nvidia 4090 work in the Fragbox too or do you have to stick with the aftermarket 4090?

    I configured a tiki. Then, I took took that parts list to Ibuypower. I struggle to understand why people are so willing to throw away their money. The Ibuypower was one thousand six hundred dollars cheaper than the comparitivaly equipped tiki. I could buy a $1000 samsung 49" curved gaming monitor and STILL have 600 bucks for a keyboard, mouse, headset and external speakers. Even if I were filthy rich, I could never bring myself to spend that much money on so little.

    What is the point on using a water cooler on a in practice 65W processor? AMD's X3D chips barely get hot even with a low height air cooler, they could have made the system cheaper, smaller, or both if they didn't ignore the power efficiency. There is no point having the CPU run at 50 degrees C when it would be running at 70 with an air cooler.
    I have to say, these look cool. I wish there wasn't so much RGB though.

    They're all dainty little things. I love a case like the Cooler Master Cosmos. You may say it's too big, but I once took mine on a cruise ship it was for a work job, which also for a week made me officially part of the crew.

      I keep my pc on my desk so I prefer something smaller as long as thermals are good. Running a 4090 and a 7800X3D in a small chassis (ncase m1 evo) and my gpu is in the mid to low 60s and the cpu has a 240mm aio. Those giant cases make sense if you have a bunch of hard drives but otherwise they look silly imo.

      @@jolness1A small and dainty desk. 👍👍 On a side note, why bother replying? You must think I'm some kind of god where my word is the final authority. Some people like limited options, that's fine.

    • @jolness1
      @jolness1 Před 9 měsíci +5

      Falcon makes good computers at least. Alienware is awful and origin isn’t great either. Definitely pay more than a DIY but a lot of folks just want to buy a machine that has a full warranty etc.

      Relax Alf, not everyone minds the premium for a prebuilt with a single point of warranty and a support structure.

    • @SharkBoy87
      @SharkBoy87 Před 9 měsíci +1

      The irony is my laptop is Alienware, had a Mach V Falcon Northwest, and now Origin Genesis PC. Guess I hit the trifecta of overpriced. My favorite has been the Falcon, but Alienware is playful. Origin for size now.
