    BJJ Black belt Alex Vamos of Vamos Bros MMA on Long Island, New York checks into Alan Belcher MMA Club on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in Biloxi. Mikey Triangles does not let his class know who Alex is. Alex is disguised as a white belt with an 8 month background in kung-fu and smashes everyone.

      @@lucasb9693 called itself "Shodokan with thai boxing". The lack of practice with a fully resisting opponent (real sparring) is very limiting. There was a tiny bit of sparring but mostly it was hours of kicking pads or xrays, or practicing combinations solo. Same for my previous karate dojo when I was a kid. And belt promotions were a lot different than BJJ, it was all about how many classes you'd attended as opposed to actual learning.

      @Ernest Changatrio Well that's Shotokan. Probably the best standard variety of karate. If I had to pick one thing I'd pick a pistol and two would be BJJ, but Shotokan would be three. Too bad I have time for only two.

      @zhasilo Před 5 lety +4

      There are four common styles of wrestling in China, so it true for some Kung-fu school. lol
      But no style has comprehensive ground fighting technique (Maybe it's because tatami has not been used in China since Song dynasty?). So BJJ can beat all Chinese wrestling on the ground easily. Recently, some Chinese wrestling schools have started to do ground fighting, something not seen 30 years ago. Obviously they learned something new from Jiu-jitsu or Judo.

      It depends what you mean by respect. If you mean respect as a person and sportsmanship, then sure. But it doesn't help anyone if a brown belt goes all-out against a white belt--the way they might roll against another brown belt--and just smashes them.

      @@bigjimmcbob9358 nah that's part of the lesson, higher belts should absolutely smash the lower ranking belts. That's how the white belt learns and develops an effective defense. It also teaches humility and humblness when being absolutely dominated by higher ranks. The white belt can learn a lot from getting worked, and you can apply what you've learned to other white belts when rolling with them.

At my gym, a lot of the guys go WAY too hard in terms of cranking submissions in training; it gets irritating because it's usually the blue belts, and it forces me to retaliate, and I hate risking injuring my training partners that are below my belt or even at/above my belt (they wont get hurt lmao), but if you're trying to crank my fuckin' neck, you're definitely getting full force. Fucking can't stand guys that take things too far because it makes YOU look bad because people think you're beating up a lower rank guy when in reality, you're just retaliating.

      Why not? in case someone is pranking you? The belt system is, for one, a way to match skill level for training. In this case, when he was wearing his assigned belt, the "book cover" matches perfectly. Give up your cliches and think for minute

    As someone who has no clue what's going on, what is the difference between the two fighters? Why was he able to win so often? What's the difference between the skill in belts?
    It honestly looked like the guy just was on them the whole time, and they couldn't do anything, He made it look easy.

    • @MikeyTriangles
      @MikeyTriangles Před 9 lety +7

      ***** a really good blue belt could know all the moves a black belt knows (for the most part, or most certainly in theory). not always but it's possible. Black belt still owns him by being able to think ahead and time attacks better. Just like in a game of chess a grandmaster knows when he beat a novice 15 moves before they even think they're in real danger. In a lot of ways it is very similar to chess, but not just because lower belts don't know what to do, it goes a lot deeper ;)

    • @timothyjonesjr.6161
      @timothyjonesjr.6161 Před 9 lety +2

      Michael Sanford A blue belt *shouldn't* know all the same moves as a blackbelt. Out of all the 600 submissions BJJ has, blackbelts should know the vast majority. If your blackbelt instructor was going to his own high bluebelt for advice and knowledge, then I'd be questioning where he got that blackbelt.. if he's master the same few moves, then that, to me, sounds like HE should be the high blue, maybe low purple.

    • @RVGENomini
      @RVGENomini Před 9 lety +2

      Timothy Jones, Jr. BJJ isn't about how many moves you know, it's about how you capitalize on your opponents. SOURCE: I'm a nobody.
