The Gauls were up to something with those gorgeous abstract designs, so much variety of great types
It always amazes me the amount of research it must take to bring us back in time with videos like this. Ty.
It does indeed require a fair amount of time, not gonna lie. Im glad you people appreciate it :)
I just love collecting gallic and celtic coinage.
I have quite a collection of sceattas, very interesting little coins too

The best of the best channels for numismatics
Excelente video Leo,unas piezas preciosas y muy interesantes,un fuerte abrazo.
A wonderful video on Gallic coins with many beautiful examples. Thanks for posting!
Nice coincidence, I was looking at a French auction site yesterday and they had a lot of gaulish coins. Very interesting
Those were the Salvador Dalis and Pablo Picassos of mint masters 2200 years ago
Great video Leo! I really like the reverse of the 1/4 gold stater. Very Cool.
I am French and live in Rome, and although I have a quite good collection of Ancient Roman imperial coins and excellent classical Greek collection (both short in quantity but excellent in quality), I have never considered to really start a Gaulic coin collection. Those coins are for me not really eye appealing, except for the most prestigious ones (I'd certainly like to buy some of them, but they are not a priority), and so little is understood about the tribes who issued them. So they still belong to extremely interesting archeological artefacts (the reason why I might buy some of them), but not really to true pieces of art.
Very informative video, the castor & pollox imitation cavalryman is beautiful
Very interesting video 😀 thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the new video ! 😊
I hate how so many Celtic coins are just written off as "barbarous imitations". These coins are such an interesting window into a long lost cultures whose legacy lives on in these coins.
Great thanks Leo.
Potin coins are fascinating 👍
Interesting topic!
Great intro Leo! But remember that the Celts were all over Europe, not just Western Europe but also Eastern Europe, from Poland and Bulgaria (especially in the Danube basin), and the Gauls even occupied part of Anatoria (the region later known precisely, as Galatia).

I would like to learn how the die were made. What was the material ? Iron only or something like steel ? What tools did they use to carve the die ?
Ive made a video on coin manufacturing already, you should look up my channel page
I love this channel, but do we need to pander to the French? 😂 Strabo didn’t say they were in caves eating rocks.
Anyway, thanks for being the rabbit that got me to peek down the numismatic hole!
Im only giving them the air time because they did a wonderful job at the Lugdunum mint, otherwise, no way! 😂
♥ #loveit
The Gauls weren't barbarians, that honor goes to the Germans and Britans 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Even Caesar, who defeated and subjected them, kind of thought the same as you... he created a lot of Gaulish senators... conservative Romans wondered if those new senators would wear trousers in the Senate 😅
Exactly 😊😊😊
The gauls and celtic are the same

Gauls (while they were Celtic people) weren't the same as the Celtic tribes in Britain at the time.
