What was I doing back in December of 1981? I had just turned 18. It was my senior year in high school working as a busboy at a hotel in the Texas Medical Center making 3.35 an hour, which was the minimum wage back then, saving for a car. Man, I miss those days…😥
Two weeks before these commercials I just turned 2. Very fond memories of the latter part of this decade.
Isn't it amazing how much technology has changed in the last 40 years?

That Jordache ad is striking! All the models are so beautiful. And the way it's filmed with that dramatic music! Too bad an HQ version of it isn't out there.
Born: January 1, 1980 (20 years old)
12:15- this is a classic 80s ad! I believe this played into the mid-80s. This commercial is the epitome of class; love the inclusion of Pachebel’s Canon in D. Merry Christmas!🎄🎁
W.B. Brydon does a nice voice-over on this commercial.
Such a pretty ad. Too bad there isn't beauty shown in ads anymore.
recorded 40 years ago on the day after!
I remember watching Bill.

Still in the late late 70s

1981, "Greatest Generation" in charge, no wokeness, no DEI nonsense, no "climate change" ruse for youngins, no cellphones, no internet for the masses....
and hard work and qualifications ruled the workforce instead of today's promoting based on a checked box.....
I was 15 in 1981 and it was a great time to be a teenager.😊
Yeah, life was good if you were straight, white, and male. If you were not, chances are good you faced a lot of discrimination in the workplace and in hiring.

0:00 Joe Sirola on the voice-over for GE. He was an all-time great voice talent.

34:02 Alan Bleviss on the voice-over for "Ragtime." Just a tremendous v/o talent, originally from Canada.

So much ancient technology!
It's funny 40 years later how quaint everything seems, when you consider just ten years before that, there was no such thing as a video game industry (not even pong), no VCRs, no personal computers, no HBO, no weather radar for meteorologists (all by hand), and no telephone answering machines for widespread use. A lot of the music at the time (especially the New Wave/New Romantic) really showed a burst of energy that was heralding the coming of the non-ending global village.
@@pannoni1491 well said! I love your content! ❤️
