    I'm a bit late to the party but, thanks so much for making this vital video. Inspired by the improved sound, after making these adjustments, I've returned to my 1989 CE (after a long absence) and don't just play it; I caress it. :)

      Which way do you turn the mini pots to increase the volume of each string ? Towards the headstock or toward the bottom ?

    • @redrooz
      @redrooz Před 2 lety

      @@briansviolins9376 Don't recall and it might differ across manufacturing releases. Since they're just mini volume controls, it should be easy to determine by simply trying each direction.

      @@redrooz thanks for the info. The Chet Atkins I have has 6 mini wheels, I did get adjusting while strumming the string but I couldn’t hear the difference. The bass strings are too loud on mine even when I roll the B knob all the way down

    Thank you for this video , I am wondering if anyone knows if turning these mini pots clockwise will make them louder like a normal pot? I can’t really tell by listening

    they should make a version of this guiar that has the small adjustment knobs external, it wood make it a hell of o lot easyer to adjust it!!!

    Excellent video, very good information here. I just got one of these guitars and having some issues with the sound quality on just the high E string. I thought maybe the action was too low, but I just now shimmed it up and it's still happening. Going to try out some of your tips, and also check the battery while I'm at it. Thank you very much!

      I have a similar issue I guess! Low E string is much quieter when plugged in than the other strings, it's almost silent.
      What happened with ur issue? What helped?

    Was never happy with the pickup in my early CEC. Following the advice on this video regarding adjustment definitely improved things as did switching to the higher tension strings.
    I have just installed a Barbera Soloist pickup and CE/CEC specific rosewood insert. Only 2 connections to the original preamp and it sounds warm and natural right into my home studio mixing board. Even the guitar tone control works better with this setup. Much better to start out with great tone than trying to fix the original with some box/processing. Like having a totally new instrument.

      @jobluez How did you connect the Barbera to the existing wiring? I'm going to get one for my Chet, they sound great! I just got the guitar, love it, but the high E string has a bit of a ping to it that I haven't been able to eliminate. Tried shimming the saddle and adjusting the pickup volumes, still pinging.

    I'm courious if the current models still use individual piezo crystals or the newer piezo strip technology.

    Jim... Question .. One of my pickup adjusting wheels is not working properly.... Is it the pick up itself ? Or the Circuitboard/ Preamp?

    Gobson is overrated, and they dont have wammy bars. So Gibsons are for girls because girls dont have "wammy bars".
