Just picked up my 83' swb squarebody....luv it.....has the 305..she slow leaking from front to back n slow.....was going to do an LS 6.0 swap but u have convinced me to go ahead and swap the 350 in it....plenty enough power for me to daily......keep it classic!
Great job
Great job! I’m still driving the 79 GMC that was passed on to me by my father. Nothing runs like an old truck, easy to work on and no sensors to go out.
That's the truth!
Nice I can’t wait to get mine out hopefully within the next year
Should I make a video covering how to tune Holley Carburetors? Let me know what you think!
JRhea502 absolutely if could
Yes
Yes sir. Im going away from an 88 ford throttle body to a carb. Ao yes that would be awesome.
Why not?
Nice truck bro I have 85 Silverado 350 sb/700r4, posi 4:10 gears😂💪🏾 😍
Thanks man! Love these trucks
Nice truck...square bodies matter!!
Hahahaha thanks bro!
Can this type of engine be installed in a 2003 silverado 1500 4x4?
Short answer would be yes, but not worth the hassle
I put this engine in my honda cxr
You may not believe this, but my first car was a 95 Del Sol so I have a soft spot for Hondas. Pics or it didn't happen 😅
A 40 or 44 series flow master will do the job!
Not much of a Flowmaster fan personally, I'm more of a Magnaflow guy. The truck currently has twin 3" Magnaflow race 4x9 mufflers and an x pipe. 300hp has never sounded so good 🤣 thanks for checking out the build!
Thank you so much, very informative.. I hope to one day hunt down a 64’-72’ C10 & do a swap.
Just needa find one lol to have as a daily driver. Hope to see more videos.
Thank you man! An early gen c10 would be a sweet daily, just keep on the hunt and the right one will find you.
I’m currently running a 72 C30 flatbed. I replaced the cab and chassis rear end with a GM 14 bolt rear end. Installed a 350 4 bolt main with edelbrock intake and long tube headers. I’m currently running a Carter comp Carburator, but I’ll probably change that out later down the road.
No AC, no radio, but I drive it every damn day. At least till I get my shovelhead back on the road. Been dumping all my loot into my truck. 😂
Waiting on new videos bro
Mean build brother can’t wait to get mine back up and running with that same crate engine
Thanks man! What are you building?
Crate engines are like $8,000. You can get an LS for half that.
Stock Crate like he got is only 2k delivered. (2023)
@@MandoDando Those are junk rebuilt ATK engines. Not factory new. New Chevy 350 long block is like $4500.
Love the chevy 💖🚘
Thanks!!!
I love those square bodies.
Right! There's just something about a square body
Good series, thanks. Any updates after 2years? Would you do it again or get a motor with more power?
Thanks man I really appreciate it. Yes I would absolutely do it again, but I'd swap the stock cam immediately. I ended up installing a summit 1785 cam, jegs 2200 converter, built a 3" exhaust with an x pipe, and 3.73s with a Yukon posi. With the cam, converter, and gears it's actually pretty quick around town and has the hot rod sound that turns heads. 2 years in and all I do is change the oil
What initial did at.. Just curiuos
Total ignition timing was 34° with another 14° on an adjustable vacuum advance. It's been a while since I've had a timing light on it so I'm going from memory, but I believe initial timing is 12° with 22° in the advance curve. But I run 2 lightweight advanced springs in the distributor and when coming back down to idle they apply some ignition advance. I believe total timing with vacuum advance at idle is around 25-28 degrees. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Yes I have the 350 265 hp I'm at total 36 with vac advance on full manifold and it rocks great power smooth idle .
14 initial exactly
Hello, I bought the same engine with the same accessories as you, my question is: after fulfilling the 1/2 hour of departure at 2000 rpm did you keep the 10 ° advance or did you change them? Greetings from Punta Arenas. chili 🇨🇱
Since break with the factory cam I ran 32 degrees of total ignition advance with light enough advance springs to have the timing all in at approximately 2500. Your initial timing will vary based on what weights are set up in your distributor
@@jrhea5023 ok, thanks for taking the time to respond, greetings from chile 🇨🇱
Love those wheels, which ones are those?
22x9 Irocs
Nice series mate, your intro music is waaaaaaaaaaaay too loud, otherwise great info!
Thanks man! I'm still figuring out final cut pro lol
What exhaust set up did you use ?..im in the last stage of my build and i like how you got yours sounding..plz let me know
In this video it was 1 5/8 long tube headers, 3" collectors necked down to a 2 1/2" dual exhaust with dynomax turbo mufflers.
I need to get a video up of the new exhaust system I built. Changed it to a full 3" dual exhaust with an x pipe and magnaflow race mufflers. It's quite a bit louder now
What's the theme song I like dat start off lol
It's a song I randomly found on Sound cloud. I honestly don't remember the name lol guess that's what happens when I don't upload for a year.....
Great Info brotha! I’m getting the same crate motor for my 64 Impala and I just have a few questions if you don’t mind. Where is the oil pressure switch for this motor at? Did the motor came with timing marks and an oil dipstick plug? not the plastic one but the metal one that is permanent plug. Any recommendations that you didn’t show on the video that you wish you did differently? Thank you 🙏🏼
The oil pressure sender port is located at the back of the block just behind the intake sealing area. The engine came with timing tabs for both a 6" and 8" balancer but no balancer itself. It also came with a metal plug to plug the dipstick hole you dont use.
JRhea502 Thank you 🙏🏼
Hello how are you doing ? me again ! I started the engine and apparently it is the distributor, in your video you can not see which distributor you occupied, is similar to the original, or is it one of those recommended by Summit Racing? Greetings from Punta Arenas. Chile .
The distributor I used was a brand new AC Delco HEI factory replacement unit. I believe I purchased it on Amazon.
502 in your name. Are you in Kentucky? I'm near the 606/859 area code split...ive got a 82 Gmc Sierra myself. Rust free Texas truck with alot of paint flake lol. 350 305heads Weiand Street Warrior intake Edelbrock avs2 650cfm carb Msd distributor nv3500 5speed swapped. Gettin ready to start sanding her down. I was wondering how Camaro wheels looked on the squares. Love that Pinstripe Bro that's Fire 😎
Yes sir I'm in Louisville! Thanks bro, the Iroc wheels are essential to the look IMO. Sounds like a nice truck, I'll definitely be on the lookout for the build!

So how does she run throughout the summer? Any heat issues? I have the same engine, all Edelbrock with Hooker Headers, MSD, and a Stoicometer in an '85 shortbed lowered 4/6.
I found with headers, even with a 2" cowl, she gets real hot under the hood and I had to place a 1" four hole spacer atop a phenolic spacer to keep the carb cooled. Nice truck!
Thanks man, she runs great in the summer! I'm now lowered approximately 5/7 and had to remove the front inner fenders for clearance issues. That, blocking off the exhaust crossover port, a 160° thermostat, and heavy duty clutch fan and I don't have any vapor lock or problems with the carb running hot. I had a 2" plastic spacer on this intake at one time but I didn't notice any difference in heat and it actually felt like I lost some low end/throttle response so I took it off.
Forgot to add, but I'm also running a mechanical fuel pump which also helps keep the fuel cool compared to an electric pump.
@@jrhea5023 I'm running a mechanical as well. Hell, if I had an electric fuel pump I would probably go EZ-EFI. Forgot to add, Im in Arizona, so yeah...heat.
@@Capt_Killingfield Yeah, that's a different kind of heat for sure.
Nice truck homie! I hope to join the Chevy truck family soon
Thanks bro! You should definitely pull the trigger when the right truck comes around. They are only going to go up in value.
@@jrhea5023 i got one yesterday its a 1985 long bed custom deluxe
@@nelsona779 Hell yeah, get a video up of it! Welcome to the family
Wheels ruin it
Iroc's for life 🤙
What brand engine and carb?
It's your basic gm goodwrench 190hp crate engine and the carb is a quick fuel 600cfm vacuum secondary
Thats a nice truck. now paint that hood, lol .
Dude it needs it so bad 😂 My painter buddy said he doesn't want to touch it until we paint the whole thing lol
@@jrhea5023 but it doesn't need a full paint job. even if you painted the hood and it was kind of crappy or didn't match it would still be worth doing it.
@@davidcraft4909 I think so to, but honestly the truck was painted in the early 2000s so I get where he is coming from. Personally I'd like to have it painted back to the factory scheme. Maybe one day lol
Is that side stripe vinyl or is it painted? If vinyl where did you get it
cool c10 bro! check out my build
Is this smog and street legal
It is in Kentucky lol I'm not sure what state you're in or what your smog requirements are, but if you put cats and a factory style carb on it it should pass in most states. Aside from the headers and intake/carb, this is a factory replacement engine.
JRhea502 okay. I just bought one I want new engine for it. Just to drive it and reliable nothing fast or anything maybe buen little rubber lol. But smog friendly and legal
@@that209gamepicker This crate engine will be right up your alley bro
JRhea502 okay 😁thanks can’t wait to drive around in it
