Carlos has a scary habit of shooting all his bullets in every game, then we go to extras or 8th/9th and we need another bullet. I'm not blaming him. It it doesn't seem to be working. Saturday was a perfect example of him doing it.

I am a patient, measured fan when it comes ro my teams, I try not to get too high or too low or after wins or losses, or streaks of any kind.
But Edwin Diaz is killing this team right now. He either accepts a demotion to middle relief or set up/8th inning guy, and I am leaning toward the former because you can put him in a blow out game and either he puts out the fire or pours more gasoline on it. But you cannot, in hs current incarnation, trot him out there in any kind of high leverage situation.
If he would accept an assignment to one of the Mets minor league franchises where he could work on his issues (if that's even possible given the MLBPA contract and his current veteran status), I would be OK with that. Perhaps this knee injury that he suffered during the World Baseball Classic has caused more issues than we realize, because power pitchers like Diaz rely as much on their lower bodies as they do their golden arms.
Under no circumstances going forward should Diaz be the closer until what is ailing him is figured out. Mendoza, Stearns and the entire Mets braintrust should understand that the team comes first, and they have to figure out how to win games with or without Diaz going forward. I only wish Diaz well and hope he gets healthy/better./effective going forward. But for his and the team's sake, he needs to be reassigned or sent down to the minors for what amounts to a "rehab" assignment, if that's even feasible/possible.

I am a die hard Mets fan and transplant New Yorker who lives just walking distance from the Marlins ball park,I actually refused to go see my Mets still. The tickets were even being comped to me,and I still refused to go!!! They are just not worth my precious time. You couldn’t pay me to watch this squad passing for an MLB team 😢😢😢.

PS - Five years ago, on May 23, 2019, the Mets completed a four game sweep of the Nats, dropping them to a disastrous 19-31, and effectively ending their season....or so it seemed. Instead, they turned it around and won the World Series that year.
While the Mets are clearly not winning this year's WS, there is no reason to announce the season over on May 20th just because they are four games under .500.

Same mistakes again and again. You have to build through the farm (and it takes a while). The more you try and get around that simple fact, the longer it will take.
Mets are 12.5 games out and not even June 1st. This team will not win more than 75 games period. They have no quality starting pitchers that can go 7 innings. The relievers will be completely burned out by all star break starting show that already. Horrible contracts the Mets cannot get rid of in Lindor and Nimmo. Pete Alonso contract looming asking for 40 mil plus a year and Boris is his agent. Coupons were cheap but uncle Stevie doesn’t have a clue on what he is doing or spending on.
Diaz contract officially a full blown disaster, Lindor wildly overpaid…..do not overpay Alonso.

No….Mets lost the moment it was made. Horrible process. Could’ve gotten so much more for Kelenic THEN. Diaz has since been signed to a horrific deal. Cano was signed to a horrific deal. Kelenic is free. They won.
