- Recorded at the Beach Boys historic concert at Knebworth House on June 21st 1980. It proved to be the last time that the original Beach Boys: Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Carl Wilson, Dennis Wilson and Alan Jardine, would appear together on a UK stage.
The Beach Boys are one of the most successful groups of all time clocking up 28 UK Top 40 singles and numerous hit albums, with Pet Sounds being generally regarded as one of the all time great albums and Good Vibrations being voted the best single ever released in Mojo magazine's poll.
The album includes virtually all the Beach Boys classics such as Fun, Fun, Fun, Help Me
Rhonda, Sloop John B, Lady Lynda, I Get Around, Barbara Ann, Wouldn't It Be Nice, Surf...

It’s hard not to love Al Jardine when you see him asking Brian if he is okay. Plus, he is a darn good singer.
He's certainly more kindhearted than Mike Love! That guy is so full of himself! In the beginning of the song, he was strutting around the stage, and then he looked lost! That was hilarious!
Al walking up to Brian and asking him how he's doing is just heart warming. They really cared about him and missed him.
Al’s always been my favorite beach boy, I wish he got more songs, also considering his voice still sounds amazing to this day, he has lost nothing and he’s 82 years old
He's my favorite too and such a good guy
I love how Al Jardine walks over to Brian at :28 and asks "are you doing alright?" God, what a band. I will cry when Al and Brian pass away. So beautiful.
0:28 Al is checking on Brian, asking him if he's alright. It's been really moving how Al has stuck with Brian, touring, the last decade or so. They're such magic when they perform together and this makes it clear that the bond was really there between the two of them decades ago. Al genuinely cares for him. The gift they have given us with Darien and Matt Jardine and the band will live on, but Brian and Al will never be replaced.
I saw Brian and Al back in May. Al was checking on Brian and talking to Brian on stage, one could clearly see how much he cares and loves Brian. So glad that they are still touring together, it was such an amazing concert to experience, they opened up for Chicago, but to me, I think they were just as amazing if not better than Chicago!
They truly are a team!!
@@courtneybouldsLOL did Brian Wilson actually do anything when you saw them? Or just sit there staring into space?
Despite the years of drama and turmoil between Love and the Wilsons, Al always just looked happy to be there, like the kid picked last on the team. He had great talent but seemed so content just to be in a band.
Al Jardine is a gentleman... since the 50’s till our days
Great musician , great person, put the Beach Boys always in front...
Al just seems like the most wonderful person out, always great as a performer, great musician, and particularly a good friend to Brian when that certainly wasn't the easy thing to do.
Al goes over to Brian and visibly asks him, "Hey, you okay?" Brian nods affirmatively. It was quite common at this time for everyone to check on Brian (and with good reason). Carl and Mike both do so during the Live Aid performance where Brian was visibly struggling.
20 years later, the harmonies are so tight. Now, 40+ years later, I still enjoy this tune.
So nostalgic... seeing the three Wilson's brothers, all together in stage. We all miis you Carl and Dennis. RIP
I wish they were still alive
Dennis sounds great salivating on the mic and stomping on the piano
+Ping Pong That's Dennis!
Who was drumming?
@@thomassullins8690 Bobby Figueroa.
Yes he did
The compassion of Alan at :31 kills me. "You ok?"
At 0:32 you can see what an awesome friend Al is to Brian. Checking in on him to see if he’s doing okay, you don’t really see that in a live performance anymore
And Dennis wasn't just a drummer! Wow! This concert was fantastic!
Dennis was very underrated as a singer and performer with the group. I dont think he really got the respect he deserved as a contributing member of the Beach Boys over the years.
When Dennis injured his hand in the early seventies and Ricky Fataar took over on drums for a while Dennis started doing a one-hand piano thing in concert. It's a cliche to say Dennis was underrated, but it's true of course. If all he had done was write "Forever" that would've been a huge accomplishment all by it self, but, man, he penned so many beautiful songs. "Cuddle Up" is a big favorite of mine. And he certainly made the L.A. Light album a much better album than it otherwise would've been with his contributions. "Baby Blue" is fantastic.
Wasn’t he a buddy of Charles Manson for awhile?
@@davethompson3140 Yeah, and supposedly that haunted him for the rest of his life as said by his closest friend, Gregg Jakobson, who also wrote and even produced a lot Dennis's work.
He played guitar on his album too !
Denis And Carl Wilson Forever ❤❤
Seems like God takes the best home early while leaving a total piece of crap like Mike Love. God Bless Carl and Dennis.
Mike will come around on his death bed, maybe. Too much testosterone for one guy.
Vitor Werner yeah and I really like mike love, Al Jardine and Brice Johnston they are awesome including Dennis and Carl Wilson and god bless Dennis and Carl Wilson they are awesome
I love Mike Love. His voice is so much 'The Beach Boys'. He always interacted with the boys, was a great front man. Had some good moves too. I dont get the hate. He was an original member and never walked away, keeping the name up there in our consciences.
@@reneep9972 Did you know them all personally? I guess not. Then how can you judge? Don´t just accept everything you read on the Internet as the absolute truth, because it isn´t. And more important: Don´t judge based on just one or two articles you have read. Very often everything is NOT as black and white as you make it.
How come you don´t consider Dennis being "a total piece of crap", considering in the late 1970s he disrespected the other band members and very often showed up totally pissed and drunk to some of the BB concerts and sometimes the booze was more important to him and he didn´t show up at all? Try to be more critical to what you are reading.
Al Jardine should've been lead on SO many more songs.
TOTALLY agree Renee Pena! Al still sounds absolutely terrific in 2018, while Brian totally lost it by the late 60's. Shows what the hardcore drugs do to someone, even the great Brian Wilson. I think Al Jardine stayed pretty clean and took care of himself over the years with his weight and lack of drugs, alcohol and cigarettes. He's easily the greatest Beach Boy left and Mike Douche ought to be downright ashamed by going around with his lover John Stamos advertising themselves as the "Beach Boys". They're both a total disgrace that ought to both burn in Hell. Stamos divorced Rebecca Romijn? Yes, he's as stupid as advertised.
Al held the group together on many occasions, that's for sure!
I preferred Al. All together this was great! He should have had more. His son Matt does well also. So glad they are with Brian. I wish they were touring in Florida this year but no. I won't go see the Mike Love band who use the Beach Boy name. Can't handle his ego among other things.
Many "experts" feel as if Mike Love was the fifth best voice in the original Beach Boys. Fifth best out of 5.
Al is my favorite. I love his voice so much.
Yes that little quick talk between Al and Brian!!! The true friendship of Al and Brian sustains to this day- and its wonderful, especially now after the Brothers are gone- its touching, And they even tour together- nowadays its Brian and Al ; Mike and Bruce
Al Jardine's son (Matt) too, who's a true hero to the REAL Beach Boys, not the two homosexual lovers Mike Love and John Stamos. May they both burn in Hades for eternity!
Shannon Beintker I'm going to Brian/ Al's Christmas show this Nov. I have looked up Matt singing and he's got a fantastic voice!! I'm also going to see Mike/Bruce more so to say Ive seen all of the still living members (I was born in '96- so of course Dennis was gone long before I was born, Carl died when I was not even 2)
It also helps ,when they cousins. Best group known for their harmony.
They are gonna be in Vancouver, on the 4 of september 2022! They were good guys when I met them in. 1977! Came to the hospital here in November 1977 brought each child in the cancer ward an early Christmas gift!
"Elton John, eat your heart out!"
Love that guy.
Smile892011 pacific ocean blue is a great, great album.
Jennie Canter That album feels like there's so much pain being expressed throughout it though... It's a rather difficult listen overall Jen...
Why should EJ eat his heart out?
In my opinion (which never means much) I believe Dennis is saying this in a self-deprecating fashion. With him on the piano and being noticeably inferior to EHJ. Who knows though.
@@michaelkeanejr.2484 yep, the boys were good friends with Elton for many years
This has got to be one of the best live performances ever
Agreed! They're rockin. 😎
It really is, the boys were on fire that night in knebworth!
Sounds like yesterday.
Their set went so quick which is the problem as a fan you can never get enough.
Yeah sure, its crap
Carl & Dennis look like perfection!!! Al sounds and look pretty bloody awesome!
Dennis Wilson on keyboards was amazing, and Al Jardine is a great vocalist
you mean brian right
Dennis truly was a rock star, wasn't he?
Fuck yeah! The man was badass coulda drummed for Any punk ban with his extreme swag on the drums
The man had stage presence and he was the only "cool" Beach Boy.
@@lawrence142002 I'd say Al, Carl, Brian and Bruce were cool too.....
And the only one in the group that actually was a surfer
Nah more like a chronic drunk
Carl Wilson’s leading and backing vocals never fail to amaze me. He is THE MAN
this was a terrific show. last hurrah with Dennis and the boys
Awesome song love Dennis on the piano
The BEST Beach Boys concert. Everyone was there.
I agree!
Audy fordy I agree and I know this is the best beach Boys concert and the best one ever and very awesome I bought the full album for this concert and I love it alot
Everyone on the planet??
@@douglasplein1124 Every classic Beach Boy member: Brian, Carl, Dennis, Mike, Al and Bruce. Brian didn't tour a lot with the band
@@historicarchives4841 Hey thanks I'll sleep better knowing that.
These guys were all giving 100% here! Amazing performance
Man what a lineup. Mike Love (vocals), Carl Wilson (lead guitar/vocals), Al Jardine (rhythm guitar/vocals), Brian Wilson (keyboards/vocals), Bruce Johnston (bass/vocals), and Dennis Wilson (drums/vocals). They were backed by Ed Carter (lead guitar) and Bobby Figueroa (percussion). This was the last time all six Beach Boys would take the stage. Dennis Wilson passed away in 1983 and Carl Wilson in 1998. The surviving band members (Mike Love, Brian Wilson, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, and original member David Marks) mounted a 50th anniversary reunion tour in 2012, and it finished with just Mike Love, Bruce Johnston, and a group of hired musicians. There is talk of a 60th anniversary tour. Hope it happens.
I think Dennis is on the piano...
I never really paid attention to the Beach Boys until recently. I heard Mike Love is carrying the Beach Boys name, and Brian Wilson resents that. The two don't like each other, and it's not difficult to understand why: Mike Love is a narcissist.
@@revacohen And the 60th anniversary concert tour by The Beach Boys with the lineup of Mike Love, Brian Wilson, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, and David Marks didn’t happen.
Al Jardine (rhythm guitar/LEAD vocals)
I wish so badly I could go back in time and experience this when it was happening maybe in another life ...
This live version of this song just is fantastic!
Don't you mean F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C-!-?
Love the pint of beer on the piano!!
To me Al, Carl and Dennis looks like they are having the time of their life. I love this video!
Russell Robertson Brian looks like the complete opposite. He looks absolutely miserable.
They be feeling those good vibrations
Love to see Al getting the spotlight and also Dennis being the best.
This an absolute masterpiece. I can't stop listening to it. Love Al Jardine :)
I only watch Dennis and Carl. They were for me the real beach boys.. now they are not here anymore..rip.
Dennis does a great pianist impression.
Bobby Figueroa had a great way of playing..that two hit snare followed by two hit bass drum was a signature figure for him..great drummer!
The greatest band of all times
@Hendra Li that's like saying Mozart was better than Bach
Not that I don't agree, sort of. Have you ever heard the Ramones do You're gonna Kill that Girl.....or Chainsaw? They're both odes to the Beach Boys.
@@justincasarrubias2001 Franz Liszt was better than Both. And Oscar Peterson is his student's student.........
nah
So sad to see Brian Wilson reduced to this. The man was clearly miserable here. But it's touching to see Al check on him.
This was at the time of Brian's declining health and Al still stands by him today. He's a very loyal friend of Brian and he knows who his true friends are.
I didn’t realize that was Al 😂
Mike did too.
Even still, to see them all alive and together, even Dennis on piano ...
i take it Dennis would be dead be dead for the year was out
Love how they made it have a hard-rock tinge.
Same! 😎
Are you shaken up, Michael?
Yep. And in the early 1970s in concert they switched leads and had both Carl and Dennis sing a slowed down, bluesy version that sounded great too.
They were playing at Knebworth.
I love how they stacked genius on top of other genius. Genius.
The most incredible band; saw them 3 times in Vancouver, and they had that audience dancing and singing the entire show 🌞
Hello!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day.. Stay Safe!
The most talented Band in history if you ask me.
This is heaviest sounding set I've ever heard from them by far. Sound is amazing. I had hoped to find a version like this for 45 years
If you want to really hear them go hard, check out the live performance of Wild Honey from 1972.
Saw the BB and the Eagles outside Austin Tx back in 76. The concessions ran out of everything about an hour in. It was about 100 degrees and we almost passed out but the 20,000 ??? or so didn't leave. Almost died from the heat and thirst! What a blast!
loved seeing all the footage from this awesome concert.. sad knowing that so much would change for all of them not long after this tour. this is the best jam by these guys i have seen, loved it!
Jardine is so dang cool with that beard and hat. He rocks this song.
Saw them in concert at around 15 years old, loved this song! (Of course, my name is Rhonda)!
Al Jardin ! Love his voice and character all the time!
RIP DENNIS ANS CARL WILSON FOREVER
This video just brings me to tears with happiness!!! What a sensational musical era I grew up in.
What a great sound. You could tell that at that time Brian was not in a good placed and Dennis struggling too. But great playing and singing from Al, Bruce, Carl and Mike. The harmonies are just fantastic.
He's standing next to Carl Wilson,he has glasses,he looks like he's having so much fun!
Mike is like the antichrist to many people but you have to at least give him credit for keeping up that energy level over the years, very important for live shows
specially wirh Dennis
So nice to see The Beach Boys get Napoleon Dynamite on guitar for this song!
Brian is just like "help me"
😂❤
My favorite band of all time!! And an amazing concert, I have the dvd
Nice to see Dennis.............Love the Beach Boys!
What a band, i was lucky to see them twice. On my prom night i was at a BB concert...lol. Great memories.

This is a great concert film.
this ABSOLUTELY wails!!! what an arrangement.
That moment where Al says to Brian.............Are you ok? Are you ready? Are you ok?.............It melts my heart! 💙
It’s scary to see how unwell poor Brian was at this stage. Al and Mike Love carrying the load here
The greatest band in the world xxxxxxx

From 0:25 look at Al Jardine checking in on Brian to see if he's OK. Such a shame.
You're right.
well i am not sure if you worded that so good.
Sad. Definitely what he was doing. I cant even imagine what he going through.
Brian was playing the right chords. Al just giving a check but these boys up try to set a diferent movie.
Not such a Shame what’s so ever and not sad he was seeing if Brian was ready and Brian was just doing a little quiet practice before the song started and they did a great job best concert ever
Love this music, love Beach Boys 💙
such a great party song. It's nice to hear Dennis' voice.
So good....chills.
The footage of Mike playing on the piano along with Dennis at the 2:47 mark is priceless.
What an amazing concert to see..these guys are the best!!! love this song and its the best live version i have seen.. they are so into that song and are just having a blast..

We love you Beach Boys.

What a good version!
Love the Dennis “ ha ha” at 0.46. Classic. Elton John, “Eat your heart out.” :)
Fooking superb.Best version so far I think, blew my mind !!!1
This was the last great Beach Boy Concert
Dennis' perfectly timed "HA-HAAA" 0:46. Legend.
My old psychotherapist was called Rhonda. Former professor and therapist for about sixty years. She certainly helped her patients!
Love that we got the whole crew up on there, doing what they've done best
I love beach boys

Last time the crew was ever seen together on a stage. Sad.
Brandon Barnes saw them in cleveland stadium 1982 they were all together
mike mikovich that’s lit
Atlantic City N.J 4th of July 1983 last time
Fred Christian The last show was actually at Costa Mesa California on August 3, 1983.
Technically not the last time they were all together on a stage, but definitely one of the last good times.
The beach boys man. So cool
I love how Al checked in on Brian. what a good bastard.
This is seems like such a fun concert
Aaaaah!.... Beach Boys @ Knebworth....superb!
Voice quality is amazing! Harmonious
