    I used this video to begin to describe to my 7 year old what anemia is. He immediately asked if his iron vitamins help make more red blood cells, like the trucks, to deliver oxygen to his body. It was so helpful! Thank you! Explaining symptoms and why the organs need oxygen really helped him understand why it is important too. I'm very glad to have found your videos!

      If this is true then that goes to show us all that many children are made to learn a whole lot more than what they currently are learning. Little geniuses exist from those early beginnings and could be nurtured in many trades.

    Please correct the definition of anemia: it is not the reduction of the number of red cells but the reduction of the Haemoglobin concentration in the blood.

    • @TropicalChris
      @TropicalChris Před 8 lety +13

      +Ornela Tepshi Not necessarily. Anemia is just a condition where the oxygen carrying capacity is reduced. It can be from reduction of hemoglobin, incorrectly produced hemoglobin, etc. The best way to narrow down your 3 options to help diagnose anemia is: increased destruction of cells, excessive blood loss, or decreased production of blood cells.
      It can be reflected with hemoglobin, hematocrit, or RBC count...not JUST hemoglobin.

    • @ornelatepshi6676
      @ornelatepshi6676 Před 8 lety +1

      Crist Gord Thank you for your reply. I agree with the classification that you gave of anemia, but if we want to give a general definition of anemia, that comprises all types of it, in my opinion, the best way is to talk about haemoglobin concentration reduction. Because there are also types of anemia where the number of red cells is raised or even normal.

    This video gives me the answer i have been looking for since 2 months. It perfectly fits in the equation why my uncle died and what actually happened that night.
    He had Extremely low blood amount in his body (6. Something)
    All those symptoms like ;
    - pale skin colour
    - Swollen body
    - Hair loss
    - Dizziness, Weakness, Fatigue
    - Hallucinations
    - Chest pain
    - Deep / Heavy breathing rapidly.
    - Red scars on skin.
    May be extreme Head Sweating also even though it was at peak winter. And finally Congestive Heart Failure did the rest. ( i am not sure about this one)

      And 5 year olds acquire complex and abstract information at incredible rates. For example: they can learn facility in a foreign language in weeks and fluency soon thereafter. Just sayn' basics are the start point at any age and if I wanted to be a hematologist, I would understand this great analogy first:) I for one, can get lost if I don't know the basics first. Anaemia as a topic gets incredibly complex quickly. Cheers.

      @jawharahh.5222 Před 7 lety +1

      It's not always about eating healthy or not; it could be due to a variety of reasons and anemia has different types; whether it's anemia or something else your symptoms definitely enough to go to see a doctor and check; about depression and ADHD are you medically diagnosed with that? like youre taking meds for them? or you just believe you're? cause they seem all are signs for one problem you got that caused them all; and about the deviated septum if it affects your breathing, your RR, and your oxygen saturation then you really need a surgery .. at the end all I'm saying GO for a doctor, I wish you the best honey you did great coping with all the symptoms for this long

But last thrusday the second of February 2017 I went for a physical and I got my test results and I'm a fucked. They told me my rbs are low- indication of anemia, low vitamin D level and my renal function is slightly low. Wtf?!!! How in the fucking world this this happen?!! I mean when they do blood work are they specially running certain test to determine certain health issues or does the CBC tell them what's wrong right away? I mean how can I go from being okay 3 months ago to now this? I'm sad

    At 3:01 it's is said that anaemia* is a shortage of RBCs which is incorrect.
    Anaemia is the reduction in the oxygen carrying capacity/haemoglobin of the RBCs. The RBC count of an anaemic can be normal but they would still have anaemia.
    Post 6:00 is all BS. the fundamentals are wrong and so the concepts are altered.

      Anyone who thinks anemia is a simple topic must not work in health care. There's at least 6 different TYPES of anemia, it's sort of like diabetes or schizophrenia which on the surface seems easy but isn't in the least bit simple.
      Of course I've only ever made it to Paramedic, not even Flight medic, and I think all this stuff at the paramedic level is really complicated.
      Of course they use all kinds of words in paramedic training that I hardly hear in too many videos. That's why I like KhanAcademy medicine, because they use more medical terminology.

    • @DrsJacksonn
