Austin Meier started off the final matchup on the world's No. 2 bull, Asteroid. He lasted just 4.0 seconds before getting bucked.
Needing to beat that to win, fan favorite Mauney was less than a second short of riding Bushwacker, but it was enough to take the title.
The win gave Mauney the opportunity to ride the bonus bull, Buckey, for an extra $50,000, but he was bucked.
Mauney had a bye in the first round and rode White Velvet for a score of 86.5 to move on. In the quarterfinals, he was bucked off Perfect Poison in 6.39 seconds, but advanced easily after Guilherme Marchi lasted just 1.5 seconds.
In the semifinal round, Mauney lasted 4.73 seconds on Shepherd Hills Tested, but again advanced after Valdiron De Oliveira went for just 2.56 seconds to set up the final matchup against Meier.
Meier had the best overall ride of the night in the quarterfinal when he scored a 91.0 on Rango.
