I'm 70 years old and took my first steps to Jesus during the Jesus Movement! They were simple, and they kept politics out of it! They took no claim to fame, they weren't rich, they didn't own Learjets or mansions.. Keith Green ripped lazy Christianity! He was all in for the Lord, as were most of the others. They just wanted to write their songs about Jesus and worship and prayed for the lost. The words of their songs were their sermons. The title of one song is, "Come to Jesus". Simple. And millions of young people got saved because they believed the message. The singers didn't claim to be perfect, nor did they judge others. They sang their messages and let God deal with their hearts..
May we have another "Jesus Movement". No big producers, Hollywood bosses telling you what to write, no big money, although that would be a temptation for some..
Lord, pour out the simplicity of the gospel through us again! Show these young people through Your simplicity, that You love them and are coming back quickly! In the Name of Jesus.

I was in Costa Mesa when Love Song was the worship team at Calvary Chapel. We’re going to see the movie Jesus Revolution tonight. I was right in the middle of it. Now a Pastor and 70 years old. God is so good!

I remember the days.. It was all about Jesus and His love and mercy. No big producers, not popularity contests.. Just songs that pointed you to Jesus!

God touched these hippie-type people, changed their hearts, and they changed a generation. And it can happen again, now, in the contentious 2020s. I pray it is so!
My other experience in listening to the stories is the memory of how *intense* the feelings of joy and connection to God I experienced when I first discovered this music, and how hearing it again today just wakes up those feelings again. What a blessing to hear!
I’m 63 now. Back in high school, I was thrilled to discover these folks. Second Chapter of Acts, John Michael Talbot, Maranatha music, and so many other influenced me greatly in my walk with Jesus. I’ve been singing for and through and by Him all my life, and I will be singing for the rest of my life and beyond.

I came into this Kingdom in 1981, when the early Jesus music was winding down and it was morphing into something more energetic. I loved both. I saw the 2nd Chapter of Acts and Resurrection Band. Bought Barry McGuire and Petra Albums. Then came Stryper and Barnabas. They all ministered to me and kept me through some challenging times. Holy Spirit sustained me through Jesus music and still does after 41 years.
Oh my gosh Annie Herring "He is Risen" causes the tears to flow remembering how this song brought me into the absolute truth of Christ's resurrection. As a teenager my life exploded with God's spirit and presence through their first album "Second Chapter of Acts".
Same here! This type of music of forbidden in our group (which became a cult later), but I’ll never forget what Second Chapter of Acts and Chuck Girard’s songs did in my heart

This is exciting because I was born in 1970 and my parents were recent immigrants from South America. They didn't know anyting about this movement but I grew up hearing Larry Norman, Keith Green, 2nd chapter of Acts and then later Randy Stonehill and others in this group. They were used to help shape me into the Christian that I am today. Music is powerful and the Holy Spirit knows it and he uses it very well to reach people that would not otherwise listen to a Christian speaker or pastor. It is said that 90% of what you hear in a song is remembered. So imagine how persons who have never heard the gospel would have that song stuck in their head and that information repeating over and over. We need another Jesus Revolution With Jesus music to take over the United States again and go now beyond the us because of social media.
When Christ commands me to go back to my first love, this is where I go.
I'm now 72 years old, was a part of the movement in Canada, and, I still love Jesus.
In 1980-1981 God was calling me.. people and my sister praying for me.. many of these singers I remember.. Keith Green was giving a concert at Pacific Luthern University my sister Invited me.. I was not ready to go .. then I found Christian Rock an Roll..
Steven Souls "shake the dust" I recorded it.. then found out it was christian.. I loved it..christain music became a big part of my awakening ..Keith Green, First Call, Amy Grant... Kim Boyce, Sheila Walsh, Susan Ashton, Micheal W Smith.. so many more help my Spirit .. I was 19..now at 61 years . I am serving the Lord in an amazing Journey..Would not believe what he is doing !!! 🙏

I was in a band in a Coffee House as a teen! It was early 70's and the most fun and spiritual experience ever! I love this music.
My old Church in Oakland, CA; had a Christian Coffee House on Macarthur Blvd. In the 1970's...I was one of the waitresses there...We had live Christian music every Friday night.......

Wow! So glad to find this! I’m still serving Jesus at 62 because of these people! A true spiritual revival! Oh God, please move one more time! God rescue us from your coming judgement. It’s on us now as a nation, but it’s not complete. Bring repentance to the Church before it’s too late.

Love this, I"ll be 68 in June this year 23, I left Minnesota after high school in 73, my application to Oral Roberts University was declined. (lousy transcripts). So my paster said how about going to California Lutheran Bible school in Los Angelos, well that sounded very cool. Small town (1500 people) boy (high school class of 44 people) goes to Los Angelos. Away i went. Well I jumped right in the middle of Calvary Chapel (still in the tent) Church on the way (Jack Hayford). Melodyland Christian Center. Wow, just wow the Jesus Movement was still going strong. Love Song, 2nd chapter of acts, Mustart faith. wow. . The music. Wow, I watched The Jesus Revolution at the theater tonight and cried through the whole thing. Wow, just wow.

There is a simplicity in not just the music, but also the message from the Jesus Movement of the late '60s to late 70's, which really reflects Christianity as it should be, away from slick promotions and TV evangelists, but to hear the gospel in a clear and meaningful way.
God of the Bible loves you, repent and be converted.
That's what our world needs....something that is real and works.

I was a teenager - and in Australia - yet these same singers and musicians touched my life and my youth group profoundly. Still love these artists and songs.
As I listen to this, and hear the testimonies of these giants of the beginnings of "Jesus Music", I am weeping and I cant figure out why. But I know God hears, and cares, and will make clear to me one day - In His Time and in His way.
This is a good representation of America, the church , my life then...In 1975, while serving in the Army in "West Germany, my "sinners prayer" was: God, I don't understand this but if it's real, I want it. Jesus met me there. It was a real decision, sincere-changed me in a very real way and God confirmed that decision over and over. Best decision of my life!!!

I'm 73 and I was part of this Jesus movement, too. I was there during the early Calvary Chapel days and the beginning of Jesus music which led to the beginning of Maranatha Music. Their music touched so many folks. It was a wonderful spirit filled time. I too, pray that the Lord does it again for this generation. What a gift it would be to see this twice in my lifetime!!! Amen

I can’t believe I found this song tonight! I was on me knees praying that God would welcome me back. I used to witness and preach the. R he’s and streets but got sidetracked! So glad Jesus is a friend and I feel that overwhelming desire to tell everyone how he saved a late- hippie like me.

It really is. They capture the spirit of the Jesus movement. True, pure love peace and joy in Jesus.
Exactly! I watched The Jesus Music movie, and really lost interested when it got to the modern Christian bands and their smoke and light machines. Especially when they started talking about how difficult it was for them to be accepted. It's like I would have rather heard more about those who actually pioneered the Jesus Music Revival, than hear about Amy Grant's struggles being accepted by the Church when she started doing secular music. 🤦🏻♂️

We became believers in 1972. Led an incredible youth group which was on fire for Jesus. John Fischer heard them at a youth rally in Santa Barbara. John asked to come to our home to continue to be ministered to by them. We sang and sang that night! Forest Home, the place where the videos were taken, and in Stanley Collins Lodge. Dr. Collins was our favorite Forest Home teacher....Forest Home, an amazing place. Went every summer and in the winters took our youth group. My husband, Tom, was a Christian radio manager and pastor in Santa Barbara. Played all these singers, brought them to town. Even Jamie Collins. These memories are relived every time I listen to First Love. Amazing what Jesus has done. Chuck Smith and Tom were friends. 2nd Chapter of Acts, saw them 1st at Forest Home in winter of '73. with our incredible youth group. My jaw dropped because of their praise to the Lord. I think Matthew was only 13 or so then!! Memories, memories. So grateful.

Love this. I’ve watched it before. Great to see it again. I was in a band called Chalice that was lucky enough to open for some of these bands. That humble spirit seeking after God, shown in the film, is exactly what I saw when working with them. God we need you now like you fell back then. You will probably come in a new way. However you come, come Lord Jesus!

I'm 67. I grew up in a small town in NC and was given as a Christmas present an album by the 2nd Chapter of Acts. I had never in my life heard such testimony. I grew up in the "coffee house" days of churches and had never felt touched by God in such a profound way. Thank you, 2nd Chapter of Acts, for being such an integral part of my early journey. Every time I hear your music it brings me to tears and at the same time revives my soul. Thank you!!

I was reminded of the time in the early 1980's when, as a young believer and up-and-coming solo acoustic guitarist, I had the distinguished honor of opening concerts for both Chuck Girard and Darrell Mansfield Band. Forty two years later- this remains the music that goes deepest with me . . .

We loved being able to go to all the Concerts there for free. Often sitting on the floor so we could be down in front. 😊

I heard Barry McGuire on stage with Don Franciso, probably 15 or more years ago. I have portions on an old vhs, not great quality, but I still enjoy it. That was a blessed night.

I can't believe that I have forgotten so many of these songs! I was born again in 1973. I lived in Southern California back then. I was ALWAYS at the beach! If it was pretty outside or even when it wasn't so great, the ocean was my happy place. Then my Dad moved us from San Diego right before I was to start tenth grade. Back then we had Junior High School, 9th 10nth and 11nth grade. Then Senior High was the rest of it.
It was a SERIOUS BUMMER! I had to leave all my friends and my Senior years with them and move to of all places, Phoenix Arizona! What a nightmare for a 16 year old beach bum. WOW! I was NOT a happy camper! Then I found out years later when I was an adult that my Dad could have chosen to move us to Hawaii! Oh my goodness! Seriously?! 🤯
Well now I'm 65 and I have children and grandchildren. They don't know Jesus. My family is broken and I've been seeking The Lord like never before in a long time. I never lost my faith. It's the only thing that kept me alive through the years of trauma and pain. I don't understand so many things. I was brought up spiritually in churches that didn't teach so many important parts of The Word and of walking with Jesus. I didn't know about having a Spiritual prayer language. And I lost my memory in 2018 during an illness that nearly killed me. Life has been hard. Bad decisions have me in a kind of bondage called CONSEQUENCES. And I want out! How long must I pay for my own stupidity and ignorance as a young broken woman? I'm not that woman anymore and I haven't been for a very long time.
LORD give me ears to hear and eyes to see in The Spirit! I feel like a total failure and I know God doesn't see me that way. He sees me through the eyes of His outlandish endless tender love. He loves His children. More than we can imagine with these bodies and brains. Maybe someday I'll have revelation of that in my Spirit. I sure hope so.
Thank you so much for this! It's brought back some great memories. It's nice to have great memories. Especially when the world as I've known it has gone pure evil crazy. I'm old school and I can't wrap my head around such evil. I wasn't created to live in the midst of evil. I was created in His image, to live in a garden. A beautiful garden not this broken world. I'm believing that God is getting ready to do some incredible things on this earth. I've been warned that things may get worse and rockier before they get better. Now that's really unimaginable. But I've said that to myself every day for years now and sure enough they've become harder and more wicked. But don't you just love Jesus? He is the man of my dreams. I'm still wondering where the one that God had planned for me a long time ago. It really stinks to be 65 and single! But that's a whole other story LOL. Beautiful!!🙌 It brings so sweet memories to my mind and my heart. I gave my life to Jesus during this time of revival and spiritual awakening in the 70’. I sang those songs over and over. Only our revival instead of in the United States, it was in PR. Praise the Lord.❤️🙌

I became prat of the Jesus Movement in 1975 i don't know when in started in my state. Keith Green was one of the first artist i heard on the radio. It was a glorious time!
So good to see these Christian artists reflect on the music that defined and blessed my teenage/college years in the ‘70s. Still have so many of their albums after seeing them in church concerts back then. ❤
I’m 65 years ‘young’ and went to Explo ‘72 in Dallas with my church youth group. My parents became Christian’s in the Late 60’s. I was raised in the church and became a Christian early in my teen years. Went to college and was involved in CCC ministries at Auburn. Got through college, got married, got my first job, started our family, bought our first house and the rat race continued. Always involved in church and having my ‘quite times’ and going to church because ‘that is what you are supposed to do as a Christian’. I’m amazed of God’s love and goodness and faithfulness especially when for so many of my years I was working hard to walk by faith. He is so gracious. God has done a work of amazing grace in my heart over the past 4 years as he has done something in my heart that I have not experienced up until 4 years ago. The grace that Jesus has done in my heart has to do with Jesus finally becoming my greatest treasure! I am so humbled by His grace, love and mercy He has for me and am so thankful for Him to be transforming my heart! I know for sure that this work of God’s grace to desire for Jesus to be my greatest treasure, has been experienced by God giving me a hunger and thirst for seeking God with all of my heart. The testimonies I have listened to in this CZcams by Terry Clark, Chuck Girard and Keith Green by his widow, are testimonies of each person’s desire to know intimately Jesus Christ, to experience the ‘With God Life’ right here and right now! This is the Gospel of Jesus! Having our sins forgiven is a fringe benefit! A huge fringe benefit, But it pales in comparison to the main reason Jesus came for us, which is to give us eternal life and eternal life is to know intimately Jesus, right here and right now! Hallelujah!

Just received this on Facebook from wife's best friend in nursing school, made me wish for the good Christian music of that era. She said, "For those interested or curious, I found this video on CZcams which gives the history of the Jesus Movement and the music which was birthed from it. It was because of this move of God in the late 60s and early 70s that I gave my heart to Jesus. I have never been the same. I hope it blesses you as much as it has me."
