Crazy underrated channel. This channel has thus far answered most of the questions and concerns I have for starting a food garden. It would be a really cool idea to do a video series about costs and how to lower the expenditures while maximizing production. Perhaps a series on gear reviews - especially some of the smart-home stuff which are useful for the tech savvy millenial-gen zs. Regardless, I see this being a fantastic trend now that so many of us are just bored of the standard lawns that just eat up water whilst returning nothing. A fantastic hobby to save money and minimize one's carbon footprint.
Thank you so much for your kind words and support! My channel is still new but I hope the people who can learn from my videos will find them and find them as helpful as you have. Thank you for those great suggestions! I plan to create many more videos and will absolutely take your suggestions into consideration. Happy Gardening!
I suggest you research your area 1st. I took a suburban yard of Chicago near chain of lakes infested of 4-6ft tall stinging nettles and garlic mustard greens. My yard is a lower elevation (mid bottom of hill) . I get all the run offs from neighbors. After research and being a wild crafter herbs and food. These invasive weeds are actually medicinal wild flowers that will destroy the soil for years to come. 1/4 acre pulled out from root tap 7 yrs in order to rejuvenate soil. Processed them for upper respiratory teas. Sold them made extra $$ to make veggie and more other varieties herbal garden. My best choice after countless experiments is to grow in above ground boxes and planters. Be creative. All done using recycling materials and throw away. Poor woman budget. Eventually all my trellises were left over farming fences given or trading. This hard work can be done. If you truly want to do this on a low income. YES IT CAN BE DONE. As of last few years my garden not be worked. Due to global warming. Earth shifted and redesigned my 1/4 acre. Back to the drawing board for a make over. Tight budget now. I have done this before I will do it again. So can you without spending a ton of money. Happy Gardening! And yes, this video is easy to understand, great ideas, most of all big harvest ❤️😋. Will keep watching
Very relatable content for me who lives in a city with a similar sized yard!
I love how authentically excited he is about his garden.
TheMCvamp thank you! I could spend all day in my garden. I absolutely love it!
That's a lot of tomatoes. Can u eat all of them?? Can you save seeds? Or r they one time seeds?
Kolap Yellow it’s a lot! We eat lots, preserve some, and share many. I can save them, yes
I j l6and
Yeah hard to hide excitement from real passionate people.. gardening included
This is what I call good gardening! Everything is neat and tidy and more importantly, the plants look healthy. Thanks for the video. I'm learning from it.
Thank you so much! Im happy to share!
You must have some experience behind and in front of the camera! You seem so at ease, providing a wealth of info without unnecessary uhms and aahs, pauses or repetition, you get straight to the point. For me, a good video not only informs and educates me, it respects my time. This video checks all the boxes as far as I’m concerned. Excellent on all counts! I am definitely subscribing! 🌱🌿🍃
J C King thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback and support! I know exactly what you mean about those videos that drag five minutes of information into a twenty minute video, so I always do my best too keep it concise and informative while still having fun! Thank you again, and happy gardening!
Totally agree!
and so easy on the eyes too!
I agree! Other channels are frustrating. Some of them do not provide the info that they said they would from the title & caption of their videos. And then others just promote their merch. I really hope he makes & uploads more videos. He is not stingy on sharing his knowledge.
I'm obsessed with your gardening videos man. freaking awesome!
Thank you so much!
I enjoyed every second of the garden tour.. The view is very stunning.. Greetings from Jakarta Indonesia
Hi! Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
tomatillos are widely used and grown here in mexico, we use them for tons of local foods, the most common one is the purple one, we mainly use them unripe.
Thank you for sharing
Best gardening channel on CZcams by far
Thank you so much!
That’s a beautiful garden. Kale you open those beans with grains, you worm up a little olive oil, cut onions little, peppers, garlic, tomato sauce, throw your grains beans there add like a cup and half of broth and let it boil around ten or fifteen minutes. Salt to your taste. Don’t forget your white rice. You can make yellow rice with them, or salads. They are incredible healthy for you!!! Enjoy.
Thank you so much for sharing!
Your garden is SO productive! Some of my plants have struggled in the heat. Sounds like maybe they aren’t getting enough shade. Thanks for the tour!
Thank you! Yeah the heat can be challenging but you learn to manage it over time. I'm always searching for varieties that do well in the heat. A lot of people will just water a ton in summer but that can actually be worse, so I still only water twice a week.
What a dream to have this kind of garden and what you do is harvest before cooking
Ayu Merta it truly is a dream come true for me 💚
Great tour, thanks a lot! I also store Principe Borghese for sauces and stews. The trick is to pick and hang them when the cluster is half-ripe.
Great tip! Thank you!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I really appreciate you going into the great detail about the different varieties of vegetables that you're growing. I often wonder about the flavor of different tomatoes or peppers..or...well..anything that can be grown. This is honestly...one of the best garden tours that I've watched. Congratulations on your garden and this newbie gardener appreciates you and your willingness to share and teach. Blessings to you and yours.
Serendipity1160 you are very welcome! I really appreciate your feedback and I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Happy gardening!
Very cool. I’ve never seen an Armenian “striped” cucumber. Everything grown in AZ is tough, but a shade screen & bird netting has helped us. Bell peppers don’t thrive for us at all. Thanks for the Tour.
Dee Ritacco thank you! And thank you for sharing your experience growing AZ!
You need you're own tv show.
That would be fun!
I just discovered this channel and I'm really loving it. They don't have garden shows on TV anymore and this one is far better than those ever were.
Thank you so much!
We made fresh tomatillo salsa verde. Guys it’s life changing, grow tomatillos!
Jamie Lemon yes! 🙌🏼 so good! Tonight I’m making enchiladas with ours
Your video is so inspiring that I might give vegetable garden a try. Snack snack snack! Making me hungry....lol
Chanthana thank you! I’m so glad you find inspiration in them! You should definitely start a garden!
Gardening is a lot of work. Great job
Thank you
You’re a very bright and honest person, and it comes across that way in camera. Your personality is what will keep people coming. Can’t wait to see more of what you’ve been working on!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you kind words and feedback
You’re so cool. Love how you pick the fruit and eat them right away.
Thank you!
I just found your channel and I am so glad because I'm also in Sacramento. So, it will be nice to see what you have success with and tips that I can actually use!!
Angelica Quinones awesome! I’m so glad you found my channel too! I know how valuable it is to have local resources when it comes to gardening.
First time subscriber here. I CANNOT her enough of watching your videos.
Hi, thank you!
Wow, I seriously hope to get to this level of gardening at some point in life. This was so beautiful to watch.
Thank you, I hope some day you do to and I’m sure you will!
I’m also in Sac and so glad I found your channel. I’ve been trying to grow a garden for years but everything always gets fried in this heat. Your videos are very helpful!
Kristina C Awesome! The heat can be a challenge but once you learn how to work with it you can grow pretty much anything here. I’m so glad you are finding my videos helpful!
I love how organized your garden are...❤❤❤
Thank you
A little tip, if you have beans that are past their ideal picking date with the purple bean you showed for example. Pick them and put then in the freezer. Dump em in the stew pot together with onions and meat. Good grief the taste is just amazing.
Thank you so much for sharing that tip! I’ll have to give it a try.
Just came across your video's, have watched from the lawn to now one after the other, I'm in the bottom of NZ where is always wet and windy, summer is usually short with rain lol and the odd 20dg hottest days. Veggie gardens are a delight but a lot of us struggle. I love watching overseas veggie gardens, it's addictive to see how much fun you have. I was planning on turning a lawn into a garden then came across your video's, so far you have been the best I have seen for any one wanting to take that step. thankyou so much for a good Friday night. I have been inspired.
Misty That’s awesome. Wow, thank you so much! I’m glad you are enjoying my videos and finding them helpful. It sounds like you want raised beds for the best drainage and choosing short summer varieties like early girls and cherry tomatoes. I wish you all the best with your new garden! If you have any questions along the way don’t hesitate to ask.
Happy to find you. I am also in Sac. I also have Queen of Malanalco going and I'm excited to know I can eat them straight from the plant. They will probably arrive next month since I was a tad late planting them.
Scott Rossow Hi! Glad you did too! They have been such a great variety! Very delicious and productive. Happy gardening
Amazing content. Keep creating... I really like the way you explain everything, and not just showing us how much yield you get.
IStudy AtDawn thank you! I definitely will. I’m glad you enjoy my content and I appreciate your feedback
Wow nice garden..beans so much in cluster..I love gardening too..
Miguela Dmello thank you
Urban Farmstead one love
Kyle... What the heck... This channel is a game changer! Top tier quality, video after video. Thanks for the work you do!
Thank so much Drew! Glad you’re enjoying it.
Oh my goodness, i was one of the offender basil picker - great tip about tipping both the basil and the peppers. Love it!
Lynette Ledoux it’s pretty common, that’s why I recommend it so often.
Here from til tok, I’ve been learning so much from your videos. Keep up the good work.
Hi! Thank you so much!
Omg I enjoyed your video so much. The beans looked so good. My mom boils the ones that look too ripe and they're delicious. I wanted to eat a cucumber too.Your jalapeño peppers look awesome. And I became so happy when I saw the papalo. Not many people like it. I like to munch on papalo whenever I eat. Overall, great video. My dream is to have a little food garden of my own so it's good to see people like you giving tips. 🌾
Love the farm tour, Adam Sandler doppelgänger
Haha, thanks
Sungold is an awesome cherry tomato; we dehydrate them making tomato snacks for winter YUM!!
I picked up the pink bumblebee this year and can't wait to taste them!!
Thank you for the great video!
Yes, so good!
This is the nicest Garden tour video I've ever seen! Plus I learnt how to make my basil bushy which I wanted to know how to do. I like your style of teaching it's not boring and it's too the point and well just really interesting. Thank you. I'm about to start homesteading and I needed a teacher I resonated with and I think I may have just found him :) I'm pumped!! Thanks again.
Hi Claire! I’m so glad you enjoyed this video and I’m excited to hear that you’re about to start homesteading! Let me know if you ever have any questions! Thank you for your kind words and feedback!
Hi Kyle.... Love your video. I am inspired to start my own organic garden😊
Hi Daizy, thank you so much!
Stumbled onto your channel and wifey and I have been watching for an hour straight and are very inspired. Thank you.
Hi! Thank you so much! I’m glad you and your wife are enjoying my videos!
I'm growing Black Cherry, Sun Gold and Sweet 100 as well :) The last two are super productive!
Jessica X awesome! Yes, those both have been long time favorites!
So vertilized and tidy.. fresh..nice garden
AGUSTINA ANNY MATHILDA Nadapdap thank you!
My favorite four cherry tomatoes is SunGold, Super Sweet 100, Yellow Pear, and Matt's Wild Cherry. Makes a super pretty bowl on the counter. We eat GALLONS of these all summer long. For a big slicer , it's a tie between Brandywine and Pruden's Purple.
Susan Schmitz those all sounds great! Thank you for sharing!
All of them look fresh
You are killing it man, super descriptive and interesting. I'm thinking you can eventually make a video about how to make seeds off of the different crops to replant the following year.
Pierre-Loup Durand Thank you! It’s been fun trying to figure out this whole CZcams thing and I’m always happy to share what I’m doing in the garden. Yeah, that would be a cool video. Because I grow a lot of different varieties in a small space, seed saving does not work well with many of my plants due to cross pollination. I could definitely show the ones I do save and explain the process of others. Thank you for the suggestion.
Stunning job! I’m jealous! What a gorgeous garden🤗
Diane E thank you!
I love all the educational information, I’m learning so much!
Big THANKYOU Kyle. The queen of Malinalco i got from you this year is super productive aand i introduce it to my coworkers and friends and they all love it. Going to grow it every year now.
Thanks for sharing your vegetable garden! You got me thinking of how I’m going to do some things differently as I prep for Fall (Florida starts classic vegetable season in Fall)
It's my pleasure to share! I'm glad you enjoyed it and happy you found some helpful tips to try in your garden.
I was just looking at the bean young leaves, where i come from we normally stir fried them with just garlic and butter, it taste yummy. Nice garden 💖💖
Love it! Planning on tearing out the grass this weekend and replicating this in our yard!
You’re very knowledgeable and your garden is very productive and amazing! Thanks for sharing! Be safe. Fan from England.
Thank you so much Karen! Happy gardening
You're killing me smalls! You are making me hungry! :-)
Audrey Williams well good! I hope you found some good variety to plant next spring!
Ugh. What a brilliant and beautiful garden. This is honestly my dream garden. It’s so beautiful, keep up the good. I love watching your videos 💕❤️🤩
Slumpmars thank you so much! It’s my dream too! 💚
Your garden is so full of life
What a great video! I am a noob gardener and love watching veg garden tours. Very informative and inspiring!
Thank you! Happy gardening!
This is like veggie asmr. 😂 But really, this video is so helpful. Hoping to have a better harvest next summer because of your tips. Thank you!
Kayla Moore haha, thanks! I’m so glad you found it helpful! You’re welcome!
Thanks for covering tomatillos! I ended up having to move mine because there was no pollination. Hopefully they’re happy in their new spot, next to two other tomatillos of different varieties along with ground cherries.
TheSunshine1032 you’re welcome! It’s definitely a crop I love to grow that really is under rated.
Holy cow! Dream garden 😍
Thanks!
Sacramento local Farmer here. It's good to see you back active on the tube. I'm in the Natomas area. Thanks for sharing your garden and ideas with all of us. Sacramento "THE CAPITOL OF CALIFORNIA"

Amazing vegetables
I’m happy to watch another update of your beautiful garden. I know it’s a lot of work but it really looks to be paying off for you. It’s amazing to see the changes in your plants over time. I love watching my garden grow a little each day, that is my favorite part of gardening. It’s so fun to have the growth documented over the season to look back at and see your progress. I love that about being a garden CZcamsr. Let’s learn & grow more together!
Beautiful and refreshing to watch! 🤗
You have very healthy pest free plants, can you please post something to take care of the moths in garden.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! we do get many pests but I manage them with organics and the key is finding them early. I haven't ever had an issue with moths but some people use netting or sticky traps for flying pests.
very informative! And your garden is gorgeous! :D
Kristine Leach thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Kyle for sharing your amazing garden. Very inspiring!
jbcryder you’re welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Glad I found your channel, we are on the Eastern side of the High Sierras in California, new subscriber here 🌶🥒🍅
I'm glad you found me too! I know how valuable it can be to have somewhat local sources.
Good job, damn whomever you're married to is one lucky lady.
Thank you! Yes, and I'm lucky too 😁
Beautiful beautiful healthy greennnnn garden
Bevon Viechweg Thank you
I never knew there were more than bell peppers in the sweet pepper family. Excited to learn more and hopefully plant some in my garden!
Happy to share
I absolutely love the video! I didn't want it to end 🥰
Would you make a video about growing easy plants for beginners?
Thank you! I’m really glad you enjoyed it!
I’ll be doing one of those and many more to come.
I found a Marconi pepper that got a big size and love them. There easier to process than a bell pepper. Thinner flesh and not much membranes.
amy fletcher oh a Macaroni pepper, that’s a new one to me. Thank you for sharing
I tried growing purple tomatillos this year for the first time. Had no idea what to expect or do with them. My plants were huge and loaded but only one turned purple all the others turned yellow 🤷🏽♀️. I was too afraid to try the yellow fruit lol. love seeing your beautiful garden! it is very inspiring and refreshing to see your excitement.
You can eat the the older green beans as bean seeds or shelling beans cooked in salt water with a tiny bit of meat. They are great with cornbread or brown rice.
Yes, definitely! Sounds delicious. Thank you for sharing
Your yard is awesome!!!! And your plants are enormous and healthy!!! I love plants, and I loved this videoooo. New suscriber🙋
Maia Tangorra Kindsvater thank you so much!
Hi I’m in Sacramento too and I want to plant a winter garden. Can you do a video on a winter garden? When to plant the seeds, how to prepare the soil and what plants you recommend for a newbie gardener? I don’t know what veggies are best in the warm fall weather Sac has in fall. Thanks!
I'm in the bay area and I love this idea!
Hi! Yes I will definitely be creating videos to show all of the steps for our winter garden. Im hoping to get some seeds going soon. thank you for the request!
You got it 👍🏻
Such abundance! Looking forward to more videos from Urban Farmstead.
Tormod Gustavsen thank you! I create content for all platforms so I’m working hard to post here on CZcams as often as possible.
I love all your video, I love gardening too, I have my garden in my yard. Thank you so much and appreciated you for sharing ideas
Great job... I have just started putting in my garden beds.. excited to have it ready for next year
All Crafts Channel thank you! That’s awesome! It’s always a great idea to plan fir the next season! Are you able to grow a winter garden where you live?
@@urbanfarmstead Yes, I'm in San Diego
All Crafts Channel oh great! Then you should definitely plant a winter garden
wow coooool vid, love the setup! Look forward to following along with you :)
The Green Acres thank you so much!
@@urbanfarmstead We initially were calling our little farm "Green Ache'rs" because we are inexperienced and older. :) Now we are calling it the Dirt Ranch. We are also in CA, South and West of Fresno
The Dirt Ranch I love that!
Fantastic Garden...Those Vegetables are lovely and healthy....Yummmy...😋. I love it.
Thank you for sharing your great work....Enjoy your gardening...Sir!!
Thanks for the tour, Kyle! 👍🏼
Richard Becerra you’re welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I had no idea cilantro is also coriander!
Jessica Clark yep! I didn’t know before I grew it either.
I like how you trellis’ed your veggies...I think I will not use tomato cages next year and do same as you’re doing. Can you let me know the name of the tomatillo again - Queen of ? Thank you!
Terri great! I have a full video on this tomato trellis system. I think you’ll like it. Queen of Malinalco 👍🏼
It's decided... tomatillos are going on my list for next year. Can they be planted for a Fall garden in warm climates?
Great! Tomatillos should be planted the same time you plant your tomatoes.
Kyle...just found your channel yesterday and watched a few videos...great job on each of them. Kept thinking to myself that I've seen you somewhere. Got home last night and it hit me...the cover of BH&G. Sure enough, out of all the magazines I threw away over the winter and saved only 10 for articles I had only saved one BH&G and there you were. Saved it for the article and inspiration to start growing my own food and this year is the first attempt at a 20x20 garden growing our own vegetables. Thanks for sharing with us and helping all of us become more sustainable in the area of gardening.
Hey! That’s so rad! Thank you! I love that garden and can’t wait for this new farmstead to start filling in.
So excited to see your backyard garden, really green and healthy . I subbed bro👌👌
When my mom plants a plant I always ask her „Is it edible?“ You should see what a gorgeous inedible garden she is cultivating. It is really gorgeous.. but not edible.. Should we start to think different at these not easy time? Just thinking...
Thomas Valentine my mom also has a large beautiful garden with few edible plants! I think it’s fantastic to have a garden of any kind and the most important thing is that it brings the gardener joy. There are many edible plants that are also attractive ornamentals, so perhaps you could start by incorporating some of those.
I’m curious how you build the stand for all your plants. Do you have video about that? 🙏😇
Eva Sho yes, I have a full tutorial video. Is on my channel and linked in this video description
I'm speechless. AMAZING💚💚💚
Thank you so much!
Wow very beautiful garden
Apparently from all beautiful reddish tomatoes birds doesn’t exist in your neighborhood lol
khalid Tour leader I wish that were the case! We have plant of birds, but the rats and squirrels are even worse.
That’s a neat little garden
Dang I’m from Sacramento also! I’m working on buying my first home and dream of having an amazing backyard garden. Awesome video man!
