* 1 lb ground beef (you can also use ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option)
* 1 small onion, finely chopped
* 1/2 green and 1/2 red bell pepper, finely chopped
* 2 cloves garlic, minced or 1 tbsp garlic paste
* 1/4 cup tomato paste
* 1/2 cup ketchup
* 1-2 tablespoons brown sugar
* 1 cup beef broth
* 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
* 1 teaspoon mustard (dijon or yellow mustard works well)
* 1/2 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
* 1 tsp better than bouillon beef base
* AP Seasoning to taste
* Hamburger buns, for serving
* Fried Onions
* Pickles

We didn't have fancy bread either. It was manwich, two bread slices (hamburger buns sometimes), one AND ONLY slice of Kraft American cheese. Mixed veggies from the can on the side.
Growing up in the 70s, Sloppy Joe's were my mom's go to quick meal for us kids.
My hubby still LOVES them to this day, so I'm always making them for him. Brioche bread is the best! Thanks for this recipe 🔥🔥🔥🔥

My kid is in love with these sloppy joes! He doesnt do the pickle or onions, but I sure do! The pickles and onions definitely add that extra umph to the flavor and texture! Second night we had them I even added a slice of pepper jack cheese and that amped it up even more lol 😆 Thank you for never steering me wrong with your recipes. My kiddo always loves the food and I love cooking so its nice when he gobbles the food up and wants the leftovers rhe next day!

We ate sloppy joes growing up but never the can stuff. I still make them every blue moon for a quick Friday or Saturday meal when I don't feel like doing much. They go good with some plain Lay's chips.

this looks really good and tasty, o and yea love pickles, pickles has adds a nice sweet tangy taste to anything. your friend is right those onions rings will add extra flavor, even another notch? add a slice of cheese.
This looks amazing. Although I’m not vegan, I try to incorporate a lot of meatless meals, so I love that I can replicate this with Impossible or Beyond when I’m seeking a plant-based alternative. 💚

It’s been a long time since I’ve had a messy Joe. I really have never made one. My moms were good but I just didn’t really know how to make it and I never wanted to make my kids a manwich one. I made everything from scratch for them but every once in awhile they had boxed Mac & cheese. I am definitely going to try yours along with your onion straws
