Hello Mr. Odell. This week my brother and will be pouring a 7'x7'x5" slab and we will be mixing the cement with a cement mixer. I credit you and your wonderful videos for giving me the confidence to do this job on my own. Thank you for doing these videos, I don't think I would tackle this job without the knowledge that they have given me. Best wishes to you and your family.
Sincerely,
Miguel

Your concrete finishing is exceptional, i have a question what make of bull float would you advise buying and what other finishing floats would you suggest for some one who would like to improve there finishing.👍
Thank you so much for your detailed videos man. Sub'd. I'm gonna be trying to do this myself since you are too far away.
Right on GL

Tough hard work. Good job.
Yes, thanks
Wish I could spend a couple jobs working with you learning hands on concrete work. Need to do some concrete work here soon. Just adding on to another section of patio. Over that planning to do some kind of tile. Thinking maybe travertine tile. This is for a friend.
SOunds good, Come on over
You two guys are pretty tuff hombres
haha TY
Should you drill rods in the side wall to keep the cement in place along the wall? I worry about settling and cracking along an existing wall.
Great video. I'm looking to pour a slab for a hot tub in my back yard similar to the job in the video. Should I have a gap between the new slab and house foundation? I like it central Florida so no freezing, just hot and humid with a lot of rain. Thank you for the good content.
Nice job on this one, also like how you keep the spatter off of the stucco, nothing makes a job look unfinished with spatter on it...
Good point
TY
Great video. if you would able to say how long after pouring conceret you start cutting the edge or every other steps would be great. Thanks for sharing the video.
Great suggestion!
TY
Logging chain with a bumper jack works great on stumps.
TY
Good job guys. What would something like that cost. Gotta do that to my house on both sides..
I've watched a lot of your dads videos and only thing that's different is the voice..very professional like pops!
TY
Hey guys great job. A couple of questions.
Any new rebar attached to existing concrete to connect with new concrete?
Was a foam strip not necessary up against the house since the new concrete was poured between house and railroad ties? Just asking based on what I've seen in your other videos.
NO it will be fine
well done Odell Junior ;-)
TY
concrete master ;)
TY
Great job bro! I want to do something similar but the side of my house is grass, I also want to redo my patio, it’s all concrete but one slab is sinking and the rest is uneven and cracking. All your videos have great tips and I’m building up some confidence to do it my self ( I didn’t concrete work in college 9 years ago) what tools should I grab to start and what other equipment do you recommend? Thanks in advance
hand float, trowel, hand edger, broom
Awsome work guys. I got same side walk like this in the video. I wanna put the Concrte too. But I having trouble to level and can u advise pls
Sure send some pics
Looks good! Have you ever used or tried the battery operated vibrating float? I think it's called, "rattler".
No, but its probably nice for big rock
What slump did you use looks great
Can you tell me for a cold state of Wisconsin what I could use between our foundation to our already poured concrete pad for our hot tub. We do have a 3-4 foot roof overhang. I want to create a 3' x 6' area. My question is the cement would touch the cement brick foundation. I want something in between. I noticed you didn't use anything. Thoughts? Thank you! BTW, great video!
I use expansion foam
2nd 👍
Sweet!
TY
Great job 👏 👍 I need my yard and sides done are you guys in Florida ? I've got a question, I want to put fence around my house also , what should come first the fence or the concrete ?
Depends on the lay out
@@OdellCompleteConcrete thank you 👍👍
Do you guys go all the way to Bakersfield to do jobs like this or it’s too far. I really love how you explain each project you do. Keep it up. You guys are very hardworking and talented 👏
No,
But thanks
Wish I could find a contractor in Vegas that's as good as you guys
ME too
Hello
I have a question:
I have to do a about 65x6 feet long sidewalk. Would you do one slope from front to back or you would recommend to raise it from the center and slope it both front and back? Need your professional opinion please. I am from Toronto and unfortunately can not hire you but I watch your videos all the time thx
Depends where the water can go from there
I am going to be doing a small pad 4x12 for a shed in the spring against an attached garage. I thought an expansion joint was needed if you are going up against an existing structure. Is ths not the case? Thanks.
Not really unless it's bound in
Maybe I missed it but don't you need an expansion joint against the foundation or is that not needed in all situations
Hi Tim
Hi Haze
God dammit Tim! Use ear protection when you use that jackhammer!
your right I should
So for a job like this you don't need sand or pea stone under? I am doing something like this too just wondering thanks great job
Depends where you are located
Odell Complete Concrete I’m in Michigan a lot of clay here.
Is it bad to opt for planter beds between the house and concrete walkway on the side of a house?
Maybe if it floods
Fence door? Or better known as Gate.😁
haha true
Hahahahaaha
This is what I like about their videos. Raw edits, no scripts, no BS. Just straight showing off their workmanship.
@@miketerrine1131 Keep it simple dont have time to BS ;)
How much did you charge for this? Need something similar done and just wondering a rough estimate. Looks awesome.
2500
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Ahh yes, the good old days when gas was 2 bucks a gallon and you could get quality concrete work done for less than 5K...
Is there need to have pads between the foundation of the house and the new concrete?
no
Why did you have to take the old walk way out? It looked pretty good?
Can tell us please how we can give for the concrete colour on the top of concrete? Like drive way same one used the colour
Sure
TY
Quick question... what is the price difference (per yard) between 3500 psi & 4000 psi concrete?
5.00
Thanks!
About to get my bull float jiggled
Get it on
hey if you guys are ever bored feel free to come over to my house in Syracuse NY. I need a 1 car garage floor redo. It has a 6" drop from the center to the wall. real PIA to use tools like a table saw when you have to prop 1 side up all the time.
Sounds like fun
Does the house foundation get messed up directly poured against it?
No
Do you need to add any separator when pouring next to the house?
No
@@OdellCompleteConcrete so when it comes time to demo concrete poured next to a foundation, that doesn’t pose any risk?
Baby Odell video haha

I might as well be an employee here. I've got enough OCC shirts and merch for everyday of the week. It will only take me 7 Hours to get to Fountain Valley.
Right Hardcore, Sounds like you received the shirt shipment.
See you here
If someone wants to do it themselves, do you think doing 4x4 squares at a time and every day putting the next flush against the ones finished? Also, you don't have to put a little gap between the house and patio?
Yes it can be done.
No gap at house needed
Great work! Why no need for expansion joint material next to house though? I’ve always wondered why in some cases you need it and some you don’t.
Beach weather everyday.
What are your techniques of curing concrete?
water
Where do you dump the old concrete you took out?
recycling centers
Is it ok to put concrete right against home foundation
yes
@@OdellCompleteConcrete but I heard you need expension joints because cement expands and contracts putting pressure stress on foundation
How much u charge for 25 x 25 feet concrete slab back yard. Ball park.
3500
2:58 would’ve been cool if it was more detailed and showed how that piece was removed. Would’ve been cool to see 👍
I'll get more detail next time
A 16 by 16 foot shed how thick does the pad need to be ?
4"
@@OdellCompleteConcrete would 5-6 be overkill becaus i want it to last 20-30 years you know
4” will be plenty thick enough if you have thick enough sub-base and compact it properly. 5-6 would be over engineered but if it’s within budget go ahead. It would probably be smart to use wire mesh too if you are worried about it lasting.
How much for material and labor for this job?
4500
Are you not supposed to put a bond breaker against the wall and apply a sealer once the concrete has dried?😮
It doesn't bond
Why didn’t you guys put rods in the foundation?
So how much does it cost to do this job?
2500
16:10 - 16:12 watch the small lizard come out of the wall in the foreground and dart across the wet concrete to the rail tie cool!
For sure
How much does something like this cost?
2500
7:50 What’s a slunge? What’s a sawzaw?
You got it 💪
Your in love with Evan.... Evan this Evan that... OMG he strokes it so good..... Haha I'm joking lol
OSS 🤙
Why wasn't the rebar drilled into the existing wall?
Wasn't s wall it was s railroad tie
I want to tare out all the grass from my back yard and pour concrete because the pool gets to much grass in it
Makes sense
Yeah. Nice to not have to set forms once in a while.
yes sirr
