    What is Monopoly Plus?
    EMBARK ON A JOURNEY TO OWN IT ALL! Build your empire on a colorful and 3D lively city. Thats from the Steam page...its Monopoly. What more do you need to know!?
    Also since this game crashes so often in Online Multiplayer, we are using Steam Remote play to actually be able to play it. Now the game is only running off of my computer in local play allowing us to save and restart if there is a crash (Which there was NOT this time around. Thank heavens lol)

    • @mus5390
      @mus5390 Před 4 lety +1

      @@phil56892 Even if he didnt go with that monopoly for monopoly deal at first he eventually got the browns and got his own cheap monopoly. The later trade Chilled offered was almost undeniable. The trade around 57:40 would only give Chilled one monopoly, each one asking for $150. This would also allow Lars to have two monopolys (giving a him a way to hit Matt) and properties to mortgage so then he could make his browns and yellows stronger. Lars could mortgage both his greens, sell his blue for a high price, and for anyone who gets pink he could either sell his pinks for money or if gets it build that up too. So although he was asking for money so the Chilled couldnt have a monopoly with houses, he could have also done the same but with two which at least in my opinion would have at least been more interesting then waiting for someone to give in. I understand that he wants Chilled or Tom to have no power but he's waiting for Matt to win. To make the browns the most effective you'd like to have another hit because for the most part they can induce fear into players by making them not want to land on go and in the current state thats not so bad because its mainly rng and he doesnt have enough properties to kill anyone.

    I was going to say that comments were biased towards Chilled, but after watching the video I can understand the frustration.
    I will say that for most of the game, everyone played fair. Immunity deals were used before, and no one in particular just gave a monopoly. And Chilled has a way of dealing in monopoly where he considers all players when trading, which is cool. But the end result is he constantly wants more from a deal than the other person because they get some sort of other benefit with another player. Now I could get if this was a one-sided deal where Chilled doesn't gain anything, but the beginning deals with Larr and Chilled, no one gets a monopoly, but they both get properties anyways so why would Larrs being put in a position to trade with Matt mean that Chilled should get more money? Chilled also gets a property for leverage.
    I really wanted to defend Larr's plays but towards the end, he was just not letting Chilled or Tom play. He was lucky in landing on a lot of properties, but hogging them and not doing any trades was really boring. I will say had Chilled not constantly asked for more money early game, he could've got through some trades and had more leverage. But once Matt and Larrs realized they didn't need Chilled as a middle man, it kind of just created a stalemate where no one lands on Matt's kill oranges, Larrs has a bunch of properties and a shitty monopoly he can't do anything with, and Chilled and Tom scrambling to do SOMETHING in the game but not being allowed to without paying all of their money while giving Larrs yet another monopoly.
    All in all, I miss monopoly where it's just 2 hours of Smarty getting played and Galm and Ze yelling at him.

    • @Samus11111
      @Samus11111 Před 4 lety +18

      I disagree with "no one in particular just gave a monopoly". 40:43, Larr gave Mat the orange monopoly for 2 red + orange immunity when he obviously has no plans to actually make the red monopoly or use those properties in any way other than to hold them. So basically he gave away the orange monopoly for immunity to the orange monopoly until it's just Mat and Larr left.
      If that's not giving away a monopoly, I don't know what is.

    • @phil56892

      Lol look where the video ends: neither chilled or Tom can make a monopoly with out Lawrence and the only monopoly on the board that Lawrence doesn’t control he has immunity to so it only put pressure on chilled and Tom
      Sooner or later chilled and Tom need Lawrence and they will only become more desperate with every turn. The only play for Lawrence is to not give them a monopoly until he has the strongest position in terms of cash to build with.
      Lawrence either trough calculated planning or pure dumb luck has played exactly how he should have

    • @raymondrennock534

      @@Samus11111 What he's doing is essentially guaranteeing second place for himself, and being able to say "Well, I still got a higher place than Chilled in Monopoly". There's no stakes, second place means nothing when it's impossible to die in the first place to the only threat on the board. Chilled and Tom can't do anything other than survive, they can't really come back from anything thanks to a combination of "They don't have a monopoly" and "Nobody's interested in dealing with them".
      Now, if Lars already had a monopoly at this point that wasn't just Browns, this'd be an insanely good position to be in. He can prevent Chilled and Tom from ever being threats to him since they won't ever actually get a Monopoly while he can squeeze them dry while being immune to the other remaining Monopoly. He'd be in a position to win without a doubt, but considering he has no real way to kill Matt and he has no way to acquire the properties due to his inability to be flexible in deals, Matt's just going to kill Chilled and Tom sooner or later and get their properties. If that happened at the end of the video, he'd have Oranges, Utilities and Railroads at 4 on top of potentially getting Boardwalk and Parkplace later while Lars just has Browns. At this point, even with immunity factored in, Lars would have essentially a 0% chance at winning since in that scenario, outside of potentially being chipped for 250 by the second Brown every rotation, he won't be ever in a dangerous situation.
      Now, if Lars was a smart man, he'd recognize the following:
      * While he is essentially immune to Matt for now, he can't win against Matt
      * Chilled and Tom both desperately need to make deals with him to make monopolies and survive
      * He needs an actual monopoly
      * He's in the strongest position in owning properties
      Yes, he'd need to make a few deals that would be a bit unfortunate for him in having slightly less value initially, but he could easily get a Monopoly out of Chilled, with more room to grow depending on other deals with Chilled and Tom and he'd be in a winning position since he already has immunity to one Monopoly. He'd make up the deficit from the initial loss of property very quickly while Chilled would still have a chance at winning and Matt wouldn't be an unstoppable force of nature anymore.

    It's one thing to not want to trade with Chilled because the deal isn't beneficial for both sides, it's an entirely different beast to stall the game because you're hoarding properties. Larr is blatantly teaming with Matt with their immunity contingencies that will inevitably fizzle out when it becomes an inconvenience for Matt to extend Larr's life in the game. Also claiming he (Larr) didn't need Chilled as much as Chilled needed him, in reference to the red/yellow monopoly trade, is hilariously asinine. • @raymondrennock534
      @raymondrennock534 Před 4 lety +21

      @@allennthegrate Honestly, there's a difference between him playing and not knowing how to play. For example, I go to my sister and offer a game. I offer "well, you give me park place and I'll give you a few random properties, that's pretty fair since it's equal in money. Besides, it costs so much to build on them and there's only two of them" and she accepts. At that point, she's getting swindled and doesn't know how to play, that's manageable since even if they don't know how to play, at least you can have people progress the game while other people can intervene and say 'no that's a bad deal, stop'.
      For Lawrence, it's just a straight simple "Yeah we both get Monopolies and we're both happy, but for X reason, I refuse to do it unless you give me way too much property and money to compensate". It's impossible to deal with them, and it essentially means so long as they hold all the valuable pieces (which is forever), anyone who needs to deal with him to get a Monopoly won't ever get it, and anyone who already has one pretty much is in a winning position since they don't ever have to worry about other people doing anything.
      Surely he'd be realizing "Wait a minute... I can't actually kill Matt without a Monopoly and these guys can give me what I need to do that. Maybe I can take a minor loss and suddenly be in the top position in the game".

Having a full monopoly on reds is much more valuable to chilled at his current monetary value than it would be for Lawrence. Red is like a middle tier property on paper. But its cheap for houses, and just a single house on red automatically bumps the price into triple digits. All of chilled's deals were scams in my eyes.

    Honestly, Lawrence if he played his cards right, had chilled by the balls.
    Chilled is undeniably the biggest threat in this game so deals with him need to be as crippling towards him as possible, but most of the time Chilled has an advantage in trades so the few times where he is held by the balls, you need to squeeze as hard as you can.
    But Lawrence, even with his highly stupid deals, was a man of values. He stuck to them as he jumped into his own monopoly grave.

    The title seems about right. All contenders here are cognizant of the danger of monopoly. However, Tom and Matt are in a different position from Larrs, they are mostly unrelated to Chilled. But Chilled and Larrs are tied to each other hard with 3 color sets. His playstyle seems to be more on the side of obstinate greed, where he doesn't feel like trading unless theres a clear superior trade for him. Looking at the price values but also the potential income tells you that much pretty clearly. He wants a huge influx of cash and also to strip his opponent of building potential, but that would favor him far too much to be worthwhile. For the first half he was in the better position since he had 2 where chilled had 1, and I half agree with both of their views, Larrs' "I have 2" and Chilled's "doesnt really matter, we both need eachother to make it work" maybe the play would of gone better if he vied to get the more expensive one on Chilleds side, and when the straight up was denied, switch it over so he gets the lesser valued with a 75$ influx. Though of course talking about that is useless now. He's in a tight spot, and Tom might be his lifeline. Though at this point I think Larrs might be smelling blood in the water. I honestly don't know who will win this one, but my gut says chilled is only gonna be #3

And simply not trading is a little boring and can call stall mates. And given on the shear number of properties Larr's have he is in the best position to stall the game completely, and i side with chilled with that immunity is a weird rule and is unfavorable for how it's unfair to other players, also takes away the games intensity.
