When I was a young prosecutor, I made the mistake of leaving a lawyer on my jury, against all the advice of older prosecutors. It was a disaster! He made up his own versions of the law, bullied the other jurors and managed to get an acquittal out of a slam-dunk, caught in the house, residential burglary. Never leave a lawyer on a jury! And they have TWO . . .

I would guess it goes to a hung jury. Most those jurors likely showed up ready to convict but the prosecution didn't show a crime and their two star witness were awful for them. One committed perjury right in front of them. I'd say some will still hold out though. Directed verdict would be the proper way to go but this judge won't do it. A couple weeks ago I felt he'd be convicted based on tds and not the favts amd it'd be overturned quickly.
It may end in a hung jury, but none of us know how the jurors felt going in, the prosecution definitely did show a crime, their two star witnesses were not awful, perjury requires intent and we don't know there was any, and any directed verdict would be "guilty" since the defendant's guilt is clear, obvious and supported by the evidence.

The scales can't be flipped. The jury pool was tainted from the start and the judge is not afraid of showing his bias to guarantee a conviction. If this was on the up and up, the judge would grant a directed verdict.
