    So damn true about MPHT....IMO it is a dose of depression, agony and tears which we don't want....and the cherry on top is some reviewers are comparing the chemistry between Hania and Wahaj with his chemistry with Yumna....kidding me...like seriously...not even comparable....the chemistry he shares with Yumna, I think, would be difficult to recreate even for Wahaj with any other actress.

    As someone born and brought up in the West, Kim’s lack of cultural sensitivity is absurd and very unrealistic. If anything, people are taught to be respectful and accepting of differences because it is such a diverse, and multicultural society. This is a HUGE flaw in Kim’s character and wrongly paints people like us as just purely stupid and arrogant.

      That is exactly exactly what I have been saying. I am not raised here but I live here. People ask how to pronounce your name right when in meetings, my daughter at 5 years of age stopped her teacher in a zoom meeting and corrected the pronunciation of her name - how would she call Dawood David when he has told her multiple times. If someone says don’t call my name, call me aunty - why would you still call her name. You could also do without calling their names or pronouns. A million other things about cultural insensitivity that is hard to digest.

    But now i actually think Saad is also a poorly written character. No way should you allow people to just use you and let people just walk all over you. Just like Maheer, saad also has no self respect. So much damage has already been done to the family because of Maheer, now Saad's father is going to die. What else will it take for him to finally see her for who she is and give up on her. Such blind love that can lead you to self destruction and ruining your whole family is certainly something young generation should not be shown on TV. #Yunhi is really starting to grow on me and I feel it's essentially the same story as #TereBin just more sensibly written cuz hum tv vs geo but the tropes are exactly the same... Kim, despite the issues with the calling people by name, is a better written version of Meerab. And the drama lacks the sensationalism of Tere Bin. I have 0 expectations that Nooran Makhdoom will wrap up tere bin nicely. There will be no proper emotional resolution. I really hope Yunhi delivers where tere bin fails

Her lack of cultural sensitivity and the western gaze through which she looks at everyone and everything is actually very bothersome in this age and era. Even many westerners themselves are more aware of cultural differences and nuances . Yunhi looks good , shot beautifully and give a nostalgic feeling but it is more problematic when comes to portrayal of of a lead who reeks of cultural arrogance and snobbery.

    • @IjazAhmad-bd5xt
      @IjazAhmad-bd5xt Před rokem

      The whole problem with Kim is that she is America raised. If she was not America raised then no one would have hated her. Cause till date every one loves outspoken girls like Rumi and Meerab but people are finding Kim difficult to handle just because she is an America return. And yes the key story of both dramas is that two opposite nature people get married and adjust in each others lifestyle. Nooran Makhdoom seems to have put all her energy and sensibility into Murtasim's character. Seems like she has a crush on him herself. And the key reason the drama is popular is Wahaj's acting as Murtasim. MPHT despite an extreme boring story is trending just because of Wahaj

What he did could actually be considered crime! In real life this is so dangerous to steal someone documents & put them in difficult position. No one should ever do that. Very pathetic move!! His daughter should’ve right to make her own decisions like he did.

    Hassan, Re: Yunhi: addressing someone by their first name. Yes, in America we call everyone by their first name irrespective of how old or young they are. In the southern states there are some cultural differences. For example, some people still address their elders as sir or ma’am. That is not the case in most states, especially nowadays.
    However, if you’re raised by desi parents, you would have learned to call people Aunty and uncle, Khala, Chachi, etc.
    As a parent, I’ve had to make the decision of what cultural aspects I’d like to pass onto my children. In this matter, I give preference to what the person likes to be called, as that is their name or title. For the most part, women do NOT like being called Aunty, Khala or pupho. 😂
    When I introduce myself, it is up to me to tell the person how to address me. In a mutually respectful relationship, that would be followed through on everyone’s part.

    I am an American and i called my mother in law mom and my father in law dad. Here all my friends when they are introduced to their in laws after their engagement, their in laws tell them what would they liked to be called. Some of them liked to be called by names and some called by relationship. And after becoming grandparents they also choose their names for grandkids. So in Yunhi, her calling in mother in law by her name even after the mother in law corrected her, shows her ill mannered. Our American kids are very well mannered and not anything like Maya's character.
    I have stopped watching MPHT, it is too whiny and depressing. Dont need that kind of energy.

I still say Ma'am or Ms. when meeting my friends' parents but some parents want me to use first name, they consider it impersonal to use formal words. You have to learn what the other person likes. Of course I can never use first name even though I've been here 25 years, so sometimes they consider it rude that I won't use their preference, but I'll live with it.

    I see Kim calling her mother-in-law by her first name as a deliberate way of teasing her but without any malicious intent. it did start as an obvious flaw in Kim's character but with time, Kim's flaws have taken an endearing turn. as Kim said to her, Razia was the name of her own mother's friend. she also talked about Razia's namesake Razia Sultana, a highly revered figure in history. so Kim doesn't mean to insult Razia at all. but it's also true that out of everyone, Razia is the one who is always finding flaws in Kim. while everyone else accepted Kim as she is, Razia continues to want to mold Kim in a certain way; something that Kim is not too fond of. this creates a rift between the two women. because Kim doesn't accept Razia as "her person" like she does Suraiya and post marriage even Iqbal, calling Razia by her first name is Kim's way of maintaining a distance. I am sure before the drama ends these two women will have a heart-to-heart moment where either Kim will call Razia as "aunty" or "ammi" to show how she has finally accepted her relationship with her or Razia will be shown to be grown fond of Kim's unique way of addressing her. i hope this clears some of Amna's complain about Kim and Razia.
