Love the bright colors on your flies, today everyone is so hung up on trying to make flies look to realistic! Old school flies.

Two of my idles growing up. Lee did what I only could dream of. He was ahead of time when it came to conservation. Curt Gowdy voice brings back memories of my dad and me glued to our first TV watching his TV show. I suggest you all purchase Lee's CD set pretty cool

Amazing - compared to modern "fishing" shows there are no product endorsements of tackle, boats or even airplanes! The focus is on fishing and conservation rather than what brand of rods, reels and canoe they are using.

I remember Lee Wulff when I was a young man cruising the docks at Rideouts Sporting Camps in Maine, Lee always stop at my Dads Seaplane Base in Davenport Cove on East Grand Lake to refuel his Super Cub on his way up to Labrador , He always drew lots of attention in the dining room and his arrival was always well announced ahead of time. He was a neat guy and certainly ahead of his time , he looks about how I remember him in this movie, so I am guessing this is era mid 1960's?? So I am guessing in his early 60's. I have visited his camps in Newfoundland and Labrador and talked with many fishermen that knew him and fished with him and he was most certainly a very noted angler then and now. Its interesting to note that Lee had his name painted on the side of that Cub and at that same time many of the Alaskan Outfitters used to do that a lot , but you hardly ever see that anymore in todays climate.........................

When you put together great genetics, habitat quality and the right trophic structure, you get the legendary Minipi brookies. We love creating habitat for sensitive species of trout and salmon.

What an inspiring film. I just took up the fly tying end of the sport while caring for my wife at home. I will never live long enough to recover the money invested but love tying flies. Lee Wulff's flies are amazing. I can't believe he tied in hand while on the trip! I have all the modern tools and I think he tied faster in hand than I tie with all my tools. Anyway, I would love to fish those waters and catch some fish. I don't need to catch huge ones, just fish that give a good fight for the size and release them. I do like a good trout dinner but those fish would feed five adults! All the best and thanks for sharing. Sean

There's no argument about mother nature however the data is clear with regards to all natural resources and the direct and indirect pressures exerted via humans . Salmo salar, Salmo fontinalis, Morone saxatilis, Gadus morhua just to name a few teleost species whom have been subjected to intense and many times unregulated pressures; which brought to today's crisis situation especially with the cod. This is about good stewardship mother nature will certainly will the void we create however we may not be happy with what she gives us. From all I have seen she has given the best of best and apparently that's good enough we want to take it all. Many of us are blind to these gifts more precious than gold and yet look how we treat it.

It's interesting to see the beginning of the shift in the "wilderness ethic." On one hand, trashing out a spot to put a tent and build a fire and on the other talking about the preservation of the area. Despite the corny production values, its really a neat video to watch. A lot of tight shots of their faces.

I have been fortunate enough to fish pristine waters for a variety of fish in Texas. Now, just as Mr. Gowdy predicted, it is all about the lease dollar with no regard to water quality or conservation. My O my has the attitude of landowners changed over the years. The almighty dollar rules and the government keeps coming up with ways to take more and give nothing.
