Toph as a CHILD is a master earth bender. But in her prime with 20 years more experience? She must have been in a league of her own. We need a series for Toph alone

I mean in her prime it would just be 10 years more experience, 10 years after that you aren't in your prime anymore.
The same goes for Aang, he is the same age as Toph and has mastered the other three elements in less than 1 year, I would love to see Aang at his peak or at least at a similar age to Korra
@@ermissu3819 Aang would be incredible, but there are other benders who could beat him in their respective elements besides air, whereas Toph is unbeatable in Earthbending as a child.
Can we not forget that Toph held up an entire underground library while Aang and the others escaped WHILE she was being attacked and couldn’t see in the desert because of all the sand?

@@zafwanx0013 no, she couldn’t “see”, aka sense the attackers’ vibrations, because of the sand. The sand was too fine in comparison to solid earth so vibrations dissipated. However, she sensed the library sinking because it was literally shaking the entire surrounding area.
And thats without avatar state... Kyoshi moved an island with the powers of other avatars ya know... Toph still MVP!
Kyoshi's earthbending abilities are insane, but I would've still given Toph the top spot.

Honestly Toph and Kyoshi are simply built different, it’s hard to compare the two. I think the best choice is to put them in the same tier
Not to mention that with the little we have of Kyoshi, much of what we see her do she also tapped into the Avatar state in order to do it, some parts of her skill set are hard to distinguish as HER skills, or as Avatar skills. For example, Aang can also lava bend, when but only using the Avatar state, so we don't consider Aang to be a lava bender, even though he can do it.
At the same time, other Avatars were not Energy Benders, making this a uniquely Aang skill that Korra does not naturally posses on her own without using Avatar powers. I mean, how do we could skills like that, right?
But regardless, Kyoshi is like Naruto. Even without Kurama, he still has massive levels of power compared to the other Kage. Kyoshi is a massively powerful earth bender in her own right, regardless of Avatar state. I still think Toph is better, but I can easily agree that they are in the same tier of power, as well as Bumi, imo.

@Drix Malone she used Earthbending for sure to separate the land masses and to lavabend. She likely used earth, air and water bending together for the actual movement.

This is an earthbending tier list not a popularity tier list. Kyoshi moved continents. No feat not even metal bending compares.
Also, Toph fought King Bumi on novels and it was a tie. They're at the same level of power.

I will never stop saying it: Kuvira's fighting style really is something else. She uses her environment and armour in such a clever way like noone else does

Kuvira had precision determination and pure skill over each of Toph daughters she would defeat anyone in Team Avatar of Korra except Korra she IMO would win vs Zahear also the 3 chieftains of watter tribes all where weaker Old Zuko is no match Katara might be able to take her down but I dont see her doing it unless it is full Moon. BTW every Bloodbender is dead and a lot of other strong villains are also dead.Tenzin I think would loose against her also.

Toph is the most talented bender.
By the age of 12, she already become one of the strongest earhbender while maintaining her 'helpless' persona. Only Bumi which at the time already hundreds years old can match her, while a bunch of most elite earhbender 'Dai Li' can't do nothing to her.
First time she comes in contact with the sand, she kind of hopeless, three months later, she already mastered sandbending, she can even create miniature city with such a details with ease.
Trapped in metal cage, that make others earthbender useless, invented metal bending instead.
If bending didn't constraint by 'genetics', she probably become a better avatar than the avatar themselves.
I bet Toph went around the world looking for formidable opponents but never found any.
Kuvira and Kyoshi could've been the only ones that would've given her match she so craved for. Everybody else on this list is average at best as compared Toph

also, Toph isn't an avatar, while Kyoshi managed to do powerful earth-bending skills because of one of the perks of being an avatar, amplification of skills.
Imagine Toph being an avatar, Toph might even reshape the earth itself. This isn't an exaggeration. Toph being 12yrs old can do Bumi-level earth-bending abilities. What more if she peaked after that?

I would still put Aang at Rock Solid at the very least. He learned to master an element that was very much his opposite, and he still displayed an incredible level of power when utilizing it. Very Talented doesn't seem to do enough justice to how strong his earthbending was. Not to mention, he's also the first person (possibly) to understand and learn the art of seeing with earthbending from Toph, and he used that very same technique to bring down Ozai at the very end.
Yeah, it's odd that he got placed only one tier above Aiwei, considering both his feats and the fact that he was taught by Toph. Nobody's gonna say it's his strongest element, but dang that's low.
not to mention (show wise) he mastered it in what.. a year. we didnt see anything after that. Only comics. Im sure Aang became a very powerful Earth bender.

Not y’all forgetting kyoshis eyes turned white for a bit so it’s kinda obvious she was in the avatar state in the time of earth bending. So we can’t really count that as her own skill. She learned dust stepping, well done. Toph learned metal bending and could bend metal liquids- not to mention she can see at all angles

It’s Scary that we never saw Toph at her prime. We only saw her as a child and as an old lady, but never at her prime that tells you something!!😮😮
Supposedly an animated movie is being made featuring the Gaang members in their 20s (120s for Aang). Maybe we'll see more of what Toph becomes during that.
She was shown as a matured lady, reprimanding her teen daughters and teasing a 40year old Aang.

They also forgot that Toph was able to see everything that happened in the legend of Korra. Remember when Toph said “You didn’t see Katara getting in between the civil war. She’s blind and can see miles and miles away. Another key point that wasn’t meantioned. That’s Avatar Level Skills hands down. She even mentioned she sees everything that goes on.

Toph is unique and the most powerful eathbender to ever exist, Kioshi was strong but she was powered up by the Avatar mode which increases her earthbending while she uses others, mainly air and fire to power up her earthbending, so it is really not earthbending by itself but a mix of all of them that made her look OP, but when it comes to pure earthbending, Toph is in her own league.

Yall gotta read the book, Kyoshi was on a whole other level lol. I love Toph, she is fantastic, Kyoshi is her. There is a reason she lived the longest out of any Avatar. She took on a bender with a ridiculously rare sub element back in her day, lightning bending, got struck close range, survived, impressed by his talent and still killed him and kept the secret to herself lol. She is a real savage...
Kyoshi has the advantage pf being an avatar. If she wasn’t and just had her Earth bending Toph would squash her like a bug and you can cry about it.

I'd put Kuvira in Master tbh. Her earthbending is great, but her metalbending can only be matched by Toph. She outclasses everyone shown in the show. She's definitely, by far, the best shown in the show. She is the epitome of peak metalbending in the entire series
ikr, she perfected metal bending as a martial art. in a 1v1 setting, kuvira bags everyone in the list, perhaps any bender at all.

The tiny confrontation she had with Toph, Toph basically shrugged her bending aside and laughed, and you could see in Kuvira's eyes that unlike everyone else present, she actually considered Toph a threat. But Toph was only there for a brief rescue mission and was determined to let 'the kids' handle things without interfering further.
You mean she outclasses every other metal bender in the show, right? Cuz if you mean benders in general that's obviously wrong.
Lava bending is so underrated. Everyone was powerless against Ghazan before Bolin learned to do it. And it wasn't trully utilized as it is literally overpowered. Single handedly destroy the Northern Air Temple and the wall of Ba Sing Se with minimal effort. And don't tell me Ghazan and Bolin isn't as talented as anyone in the upper tier cause they are with the most destructive element that could melt earth and metal alike.
Kyoshi walking on clusters of dust and glass bending!! Wow, did not know that until now. I really love the skills of Kyoshi, Toph, Lin, Suyin, Kuvira, Bolin, Aiwei. Is like they are the icons of earthbending and metalbending.

My mouth just opened wide, when I saw Toph was not #1. Then I heard, #1 was Kyoshi, I became normal again. However I feel Toph would be equal to Kyoshi.
Its been stated that Toph was the strongest earthbender ever by many people who worked on the show, her skill is beyond that of Kyoshi.
Exactly, like she was taught by the creators of the element themselves. The only think is that kyoshe has the avatar state but if we counting avatar state then aang has to be above her since avatars are stronger then the previous ones in the avatar state (except Koraa since she lost it)
yeah what these guys are failing to understand is that this is a earth ending tier list, not power. of course a kyoshi in the avatar state is gonna beat tooth but in terms of who’s the better earthbender then toph wins
I slightly disagree. In the lost adventures book, both toph and bumi have an earth bending battle to see who was the best earth bender. This was at the white lotus camp. It ended up being a draw

I think her innate advantage of having Earth Sense means she's likely the best earthbender in existence. The only reason Kyoshi is higher on power scale when it comes to earth bending is because she gets a boost from the Avatar State. At the very least i would put Toph in S tier along with kyoshi.

we did though he became a fully realized avatar at the end with mastery over the avatar state signifying hes mastery of all four elements. The only thing that holds him back from using earth to it fullest and even fire too is his ideology. As an air nomad raised in pacifism that why his go with is air and water. Earth and fire are attack elements, but it comes to skill aang, toph, kyoshi and bumi should all be on the same level.

Toph was avatar level as a little girl and even over 100 years old she is able to see around the world with her bending...
I believe Aang should be under Master level since he was trained by Toph. She taught him the essence of earth bending, that isn’t just skilled that’s mastery.

I know Kioshi was unbelievablly powerfull, she was an Avatar after all. Yet, I just feel like Toph literally tought almost EVERYONE on this list. Her incredible power, self taught skills, and connection with earth allowed her to tell when someone was lying, using different earth particles in metal to create metal bending. You cant deny she also had her own incredible style of fighting as well because of the baggermoles. She's just a tier of her own!!

Gazan beats Bolin, Sue, Lin, and Korra nearly every time. He could even beat others on this list depending on the circumstances. He can’t be ranked lower than boss level. And I’d swap Toph and Kyoshi around. Other than that, this list is accurate.
i wouldnt switch toph and kyoshi, i would just put toph in the same category as kyoshi. We will never know who is actually stronger because we never got a chance to see peak Toph, so we can only speculate.
bumi single-handedly taking back omashu is master moment indeed 😂 and Toph ROCKS!!!!! best earth bender for sure!!!!
King bumi is so underrated. Knowing how old he was when taking back omashu on his own is insane.
Personaly, I would swap Aiwei and The Boulder, raise Aang to rock solid level and Kuvira to master.
Also, it is kind of unfair to allow footage of Avatar State usage to Kyoshi, but not to Aang and Korra.

What’s really unfair is Gazhan not being at Avatar level skills. He literally destroyed the Basing se wall SINGLE HANDEDLY at with ease. You know who failed to do that?? An entire army assisted IROH, An entire army assistant AZULA. Gazhan also destroyed the whole air temple ALONE.

kyoshi might be the most powerfull, she was the avatar, so she had milenia of experience, she was also born an earthbender making her expecially gifted in the discipline when compared to other avatars. however, i would say that toph is still better, she created metalbending and tremorsense, wish she used as an extention of her senses constantly to compensate for her lack of sight, she trained 2 avatars and was still a powerhouse in her later years, all this by beeing basically self-taught would the her of the badger-moles.
I’m surprised Roku isn’t on this list. Based on the fact he can tunnel, traverse mountains in seconds and how he was able to seamlessly switch between earth and air (two opposite elements) during his last stand, I’d put him at High Rock Solid, or Low Boss Level. Definitely above Korra, maybe above Bolin, but definitely before the Beifongs.
Roku could also lava bend, but that’s only if we consider using the avatar state as legitimate.
Then all the avatars would be in the tierlist
Don't forget Kiyoshi pulled earth up an insane distance from the ocean floor to the surface
I swear when I saw toph being on the master rank, I couldn't think of anyone else to be on a higher rank than toph hahahaha. Avatar kyoshi is indeed amazing, but I feel like based on what toph did, she's should've been on the same rank as kyoshi hahahaha. Lit vid tho 🔥

Bumi and Toph in the same weight class make sense. Toph has shown better skills and able to hold buildings but Bumi and Kyoshi are shown moving mountains and slinging buildings like pebbles.
Toph is probably on the highest tier if you ask me. Her blindness is still a weakness to be exploited thought. In some situations she is just helpless.
In the "Last Air Bender", Toph was only a child with Master class earth bending. But can you imagine Toph in her real prime? I bet she can surpass her own limit.

GAZAN is an avatar level. No avatar can create lava from a rock. Remember only an avatar can bend magma but GAZAN and Bolin can create magma from rock. Even TOPH can't use lava bending.

I think it's because Katara didn't work so much on building and developing Republic city but focused on her Kids. I think toph mentioned it in S4 of LoK
Toph deserves S tier recognition. When you pioneer a new form of bending as a child, teach two Avatars, teach a metal bending generation, and turn a disability into a strength. Those are untouchable achievements. Kuvira makes metal bending look easy. She bested both daughters of an S tier earthbender and can go toe to toe with an Avatar. Her level of concentration and control of metal alone put her in the master category for me.
This list pretty accurate, I would aang at boss level, especially what he was able to in the comic, where lift up a city
bro toph invented her own element and taught TWO avatars what else do you want from her. she 100% deserves avatar level

I feel like this tier list would have benefited from clearer criteria for why you put them in the different tiers. Kuvira seems like she would beat bumi for example, without any explanation of your choices it seems a bit arbitrary
Honestly, I think in metalbending, Kuvira would beat anyone, and in earthbending, she might not only lose to Bumi, but probably be significantly weaker than most benders here. In fact, it's hard to tell, because they all grew up in different times. In Korra's time, where people live in big cities, it's not really possible to show grand feats of moving mountains and what not. We never see Kuvira do any mindblowing earthbending. However, when it comes to metalbending, no one is her equal there.

I thought they would've mentioned how Toph literally held up a tower/building by herself which had to weigh multiple tons and fought at the same time!! That feat alone makes her avatar level I'd think!!
And Kyoshi used air bending to move that island (even though it was mad impressive), I don't think it was her earthbending itself that accomplished that feat.

Toph has to be number one did we forget she held up a huge building(library) in the desert single handedly for what seemed like hours to keep Aang and gang alive??? Might I add she is blind and was being attacked and lost grip at one point regained grip and had to tie her feet to the sand??? Toph all day.
Toph invented metal bending. If it wasn't for her no one would be metal bending and later on lava bending..
Honestly kyoshi was able to do that thanks to her control over the avatar state, but this means also aang and korra are capable of it (idk how Korra can since the avatar state uses the strenght of the previous avatars and she.. well, lost that connection)

She does not need past lives, her Raava is immense and much more powerful than any other Avatar.

Kyoshi used water and earth bending to split the land mass and used air bending to push it away. I don't see her earth bending skill that well
I know that toph isn't an avatar but I still think she qualifies for avatar level skills. She mastered earthebending before she was 10 and she invented metalbending when she was 12. We can only imagine what she did when she was chief of police of republic city.

Toph defeated 2 Avatars, one as a kid, the other as an old lady. There's no reason to assume she couldn't defeat a 3rd.

Personally, I agree with Kiyoshi being the First AND TOPH ASWELL, Toph's Earth bending skills were the same as Kiyoshi, so Technically, Toph deserves to be one of the Avatar skilled Earth bender. Kiyoshi Splitted a piece of the Earth apart, But don't forget how Toph stopped an underground Library.

how can people think kyoshi is the strongest. She was strong most of the time just because she had avatar state and Raava. She is wonderful earthbender but Toph literally discovered totally new type of bending, and became best bender in the world known, she wasn't defeated a single time, while she was only 12 years old...

I couldn't agree more with kyoshi, love the books and the info you got from the books.
In one part, almost with out any proper training she lift an entire boulder of 100 meters of diameter from the seafloor 200 meters away from her position while being in an iceberg.

She didn't went berserk nor was any mention of glowing eyes or extra power or rush.
It could be free for interpretation of the reader but is more likely that it wasn't the avatar state.
It's bortherline impossible to control the avatar state the first time and even with out ANY TRAINING NOR GUIDANCE.

I wont ever stop saying that Bumi always gets underrated. Other than Aang in the Avatar state, he literally has the greatest earthbending feat in the show, moving multiple large buildings with almost no effort. Yes, he couldn't metalbend, but I honestly think he is at least equal to toph in skill level.
In the comics they literally proved that Bumi is just as skilled as Toph, I hate when people continue to argue that Toph is better even though they are of the exact same skill. 😭
Honestly I think Kuvira could give Magneto a run for his money. If they went toe to toe, it's hard to say who would win.
Lol it’s magneto and it’s not even close. Magneto isn’t limited to metal purity like Kuvira is. He can also manipulate way more than Kuvira has ever shown and his magnetic force fields would essentially repel any attack that she can throw at him. She would have no answer for any of Magneto’s abilities.
@@connorbrechbill6516 I am pretty sure Ian Welsh is talking about the movie version of Magneto. Kuvira can probably overpower and outmaneuver the movie version of Magneto, but the comic version of Magneto (the one who can manipulate electromagnetism itself and create force fields) trashes her.
I would move both Toph and Kuvira up one level. Toph absolutely has Avatar level skill, and Kuvira is more skilled than either of Toph's daughters... I am not sure Bumi could have taken her either, since he didn't know metalbending. His power is probably higher overall but Kuvira was extremely skilled in combat, so I see them more as equals.

Yeah,Kyoshi's earthbending skills are awesome,but to be fair,you have to mention,she was in the avatar state while she created Kyoshi Island,so she did it using all the previous avatars earthbending skills combined.Toph isn't just the inventor of metalbending,a techique that generations of earthbenders said to be impossible for 10 000 years,but she also singlehandidly held up Wan Shi Tong's library from sinking and fought sandbenders at the same time,while she couldn't "see" because of the sand,and she was at the age of 12 at this time.Oh,and Bumi,the man didn't just move entire buildings while he singlehandidly took his city back from the fire nation army,he literally bended earth with his face to break out of his prison,and he did the whole thing in like 8 minutes,because that was the amount of time the solar eclipse gave him until firebenders get their powers back,and he was a 112 years old man.If we really just compare their skills at earthbending,and don't count the advantage the avatar state gave Kyoshi,these two are at least on the same level as her.
Kyoshi and Toph should probably be on the same level imo. Aang too infact. Kid was a seriously talented bender. The best earthbender in the Avatar universe to the best of my knowledge is actually Yun. The way he was depicted in the Rise and Shadow of Kyoshi, no one's on his level. Boy was trained as the Avatar but was just an earthbender. It's just like Iroh is to the fire nation but stronger. Way stronger. Lin and Su shouldn't be on the same level tho. Lin in her prime will obliterate her
1. In a battle of only earth bending Toph doesn't lose to Kyoshi.
2. Toph invented and mastered metalbending
3. I believe she can lava bend but hates heat and fire cuz it burnt her feet and made her truly blind for a time but probably capable of it anyway
4. she can manipulate anything if enough earth/metal is in it (muddy water and sludge)
5. From her home in bush she can observe everything happening in the city hundreds of miles away.
Toph has homogenous/symbiotic existence with earth. No other earth bender has this relationship. I am yet to see Toph even be harmed by anything that has earth in it. She IS earth.
Toph still deserves the top. She is the Avatar of Earth. We don't know what she was like at her prime. I'd wager she was just as powerful as Kyoshi.
I was doubtful when Toph wasn't first, but honestly I can accept Kyoshi as first even if my a small margin.

I feel like aang was done dirty here (pun intended). In the final battle he was throwing giant peaks of mountains and exhibited great control of earth.
