How to Make a Simple Gold and White Engagement Cake

  • The last of my edible engagement cakes! In order to keep the dessert table looking uniform and matchy, I went with the same colours general style as the last cake. This one does have it’s own character though, with the partial drip and smooth sides. I didn’t want to overdo it with these ones in case they stole the attention away from the main feature cake- something to keep in mind when littering a dessert table with multiple cakes ;) the side cakes cannot outshine the main feature cake haha.       omg, it's the best! Not just taste wise, but it works beautifully under fondant too. It gives you a lot more time to smooth it out to perfection ;)

      thanks lovely! to be honest, its to taste haha. I find 3 parts ganache and 1 part buttercream works well under fondant :)

    Hai can you help me with flavoring , emulsion and extract ? Cuz at times when recipes says to use extract I can’t find any I can only find flavoring or emulsion. Is it ok to use emulsion on behalf of extract ? Please advise.

      FYI, you can add a tiny bit of violet food coloring and it will get whiter

      hi hun, sure do:
      For the buttercream, I recommend:
      400 grams unsalted butter
      400 grams vegetable shortening (replace with the same amount of unsalted butter if you don't want to use this)
      1.6kg icing sugar
      2 tsp vanilla
      3 to 5 tablespoons milk
      1. beat the unsalted butter and vege shortening together on medium speed for 5 mins using a paddle attachment.
      2. add in icing sugar in 3 batches, mixing for 3 minutes after each addition on medium speed. 3. add in vanilla and your milk and mix for another 4 mins. I recommend adding the milk slowly and assessing the consistency of your buttercream. You may not need all of it, or you may need extra depending on your batch :)
