Pike Place Market is a landmark of #Seattle, and one of the oldest continuously functioning markets in the United States. I had been there once before when I was a kid, but this time I was on a mission to go on the ultimate Pike Place Market food tour!
In this video you’ll find some of the best food within the market and all the details about what to order and eat when you’re in Seattle, Washington. One tip - go early to start eating before the main huge rush comes - when it gets to mid-day, the market is packed.
Here are all the restaurants we tried at #PikePlaceMarket:
Lowell's Restaurant - For breakfast we went to the legendary Lowell's Restaurant, serving a mix of classic American food including seafood. I wanted to try their dungeness crab eggs benedict, which was a little expensive, but pretty good.
Dungeness crab eggs benedict - $25
Pure Food Fish Market - Next to Lowell’s don’t miss the smoked salmon. Again, it’s not cheap, but it’s so good, salmon glistening and embedded with smoke.
½ Pound salmon - $16.56
Ghost Alley Espresso - Next on this Pike Place Market food tour I was in desperate need of a coffee to begin the morning so we navigated our way past the gnarly gum alley to Ghost Alley Espresso. Great place for a quick cup of espresso.
Doppio espresso - $3
Piroshky Piroshky - A legendary bakery that serves mostly Russian influenced baked goods, both sweet and savory, is Piroshky Piroshky. Again, I tried to keep it pretty classic, and Seattle style, so Jason and I split the salmon pate piroshky. It was very tasty, with a cream cheesy taste.
Salmon - $6.85
Pike Place Chowder - Having won every chowder competition and award in the US as possible, Pike Place Chowder serves America’s #1 Chowder. So you know you can’t miss it when you go to Pike Place Market. We got in line about 20 minutes before they opened and line didn’t take long. You order, get your chowder, and then sit down. I don’t have too much experience with chowder, but indeed it was good, and I also really liked the seafood bisque.
Total price - $37.76 total
Beecher's Handmade Cheese - Another classic is Beecher's Handmade Cheese where you can sample cheese curds and also order grilled cheese sandwiches.
Flagship sandwich - $7.49
Ellenos Real Greek Yogurt - They also have a very loyal following and for sure it’s some of the best yogurt I’ve ever tried.
Market Grill - Finally to end this Seattle food tour we stopped at Market Grill, right in the heart of the market and I ordered the grilled salmon plate. Overall, it was good, and a perfect ending to this extreme food tour!
Grilled salmon plate - $15
Thank you for watching!

Thank you for featuring us on your tour! You should let us know next time you're coming our way
I always get a Salmon pate piroshky every time I’m back in Seattle.
Your food channel is honestly the best food channel I've seen. So enthusiastic about everything. And I love how you always travel with your wife and son. What an amazing lifestyle you have.
Ying is beyond gorgeous. Her smile brings so much joy for everyone in her life💖
I've been in Seattle for 57 years and that Market is awesome!
Yeah interesting market/place. We don't have that type of market in Australia.
Mark I'm so happy you enjoyed your time at our beautiful market and you had some nice weather. For everyone talking about the prices, Pikes Place is a huge tourist destination, us locals visit as well but there are much better places to try out our local foods at a fraction of the costs. There are places where you can get fresh fish and chowder right off the docks where the fishermen eat. I'm assuming Mark went here for more of his audience benefit. He probably would have been much happier in the other places and enjoyed it just as much. But if your looking for fresh and cheap steer clear of the tourist trap areas.
Definitely, the moment he said Pikes Place I cringed a bit. Sure there are some nice places there but it is so over priced and there are much better places.
SilvaDreams agreed. Sometimes we even jaunt down to coast for the day to Depot Bay. They at least use locally sourced clams unlike the place Mark went to. I am sure if the tourists knew they flew their clams over from the East Coast they may not be as keen to eat it as it isn't really locally sourced, which is what they think they are paying for. Go to Oregon for good chowder, the places there are HUGE about using only local ingredients. Gracie's Sea Hag has some amazing chowder and it isn't 15.00 a bowl and you will get the stuff that is coming off the boats right across the street at the harbor.
@@smexyphysics Thank you!! My family and I are visiting Settle in a few weeks! Do you have any suggestions on a restaurant? for a family of four! Something the kid's can enjoy and us as well!
Renata loving life Oh gosh there are soo many cool and cheap of free things to do with kids in the Seattle area. If you like boats Lake Union has free boat rides on Sunday's, the Marine Science Center is really cool and that is free as well. You should go to the waterfront and hang out, lots of cool shops and things to do. I suggest you eat down there as well, Elliott's Osyter house is amazingly good, so is Ivar's acres of clams. Elliott's is more on the pricey side though. Ivar's is great for fish and chips and chowder. Not too many know about it but there is a chap and awesome Hawaiian place called marination, its over off 6th ave. just west of Harbor island. But f you want to travel outside of Seattle and take a jaunt down to P Town (Portland) you can catch a Saturday market, those are great outdoor food and fun. 25$ gets you all day parking near the Rose District which is the waterfront and China town is a few blocks over. best thing about P town is once you park everything is within walking distance and there are trolly's that go through town. Stop at Voodoo doughnuts, but do it early they run out fast. Best one to get there is called the "Old dirty bastard" lol
My thought is that if he did not go here he would of heard it from a lot of people but instead everyone is up in arms over the price.
Ying is so awesome! I know it's not easy traveling with a child yet always supportive of Mark allowing him to do his thing! She's such a back bone and a great mom and a loving wife!
I enjoy watching you. I’m so impressed with your work. Mostly, I enjoy how you interact as a family. Lovingly caring for each other and Micah. Inspirational. Thank you.
Mark you are an inspiration, your disposition plus willingness to do things your way is something to be marveled at, whenever I’m feeling down I just watch one of your videos and I feel better about this world, thank you
I’m vegan but I like to experience food through others and you have such a positive attitude and I love watching your videos.
Hey Mike. This is Indrani from India. You are the best man. I visited Thailand after watching your videos. Your love for food inspired me. I will visit Thailand in December. Hope to meet you then if you are around. ❤❤❤
It's good to see u here wonder Munna.I am a subscriber of yours and of Mark as well.Love from fellow bangali.😃😃
@@sumanasingharay9028 Thanks a lot Sumana ❤ and yeah big time Mark fan 😊😊😊
Mention not.The pleasures are mine.
Never heard that name before Idrani. Beautiful name.
Maybe you should use that money to help India, just maybe....
Pike Place is legendary for not only providing the utmost of fresh fish but also for their highly recognized approach to business marketing. I had the fortunate experience of meeting with someone who was apart of a study of their practices. Her book was published but not as recognized as the text used in the more popular business books used in main stream today.
Great lessons to be had on this video!
Nobody else can match Mark's enthusiasm for food.
Mark, your camera holding arm must be super strong! I lived in Seattle for 30 years and your series has been delightful to watch. You ate your fair share of rich foods that day! My favorite piroshky is the minced beef and onions. The gyro Greek stall there is delish also. I’m going home for Thanksgiving and def visiting the market.
I like it when Mark creates new vocabulary becos of the food: juiciness, fatiness, guigoodness, now tomatoiness.... Lol
34$ a pound of salmon?.. nah I will catch one instead, worth it.
Lol just buy a boat first and then have at it.
@@jadesfire people leave free ones on the side of the road all the time
@@tyrozinehappykitchen Free fresh caught salmon? Pray tell where I can get in on that.
@@jadesfire boats obviously. Are you lonely or smth why are you making dumb jokes to keep me talking idk you
That is insane. The whole fish probably cost over $100! what a joke!
Pike Place Market is definitely a go-to place when visiting Seattle. We have something similar in Vancouver called Granville Island. Love all your videos Mark Wiens!
Mark is so lucky with the weather. Every time I visit Seattle area it rains 😆
somehow I also can feel your sadness bruh :'(
That's kinda like saying Greenland is ice and Iceland is green. Myths. We actually get less clouds and rain then almost every other state in the U.S. www.betweenwaters.com/etc/usrain.html
True story....
Yellow Zapdos - Food & Travel GREETINGS FROM SEATTLE! Our state is known for the rain and it rains during fall and winter .coke down durning summer and hopefully you could se our beautiful city 🌃
@@VickisBeauty Ah maybe that's why because I do visit during the winter and not in the summer lol
NYC gets more rain per year than we do in Seattle. Ours is just "misty-er" with lingering HIGH-ALTITUDE grey clouds. It can be misty in Seattle but you can still see that "The Mountain (Mt. Rainier) is out."
As for prices, $34/pound for fresh Alderwood-smoked salmon is reasonable. My brother lives in NYC and is shocked at our food prices. That's why he always brings a frozen roast beast in his carry-on when flying to Seattle, and has his carry-on packed with crab/salmon/smoked fish when he flies back.
Hello Mark from Kent, WA. Glad to see You and the family enjoying Seattle and
Pike Place Market. Enjoy all your videos, and seeing new places, foods and cultures. Keep up the great work. 👍🙏🏻😄
Good to see you taking a tour of Seattle, Mark. Farmers market is one of the coolest place to explore in Seattle
I was a tyke, then a teen, then a young man...before the Pike Market was refurbished and upmarketed. It was decidedly low-rent then, second-hand clothes, great record bins, the Liberty Malt Co. where mysterious home brew supplies were sold. The lower levels were a labyrinth, so much fun to roam. Upstairs were the produce stands, flowers, the fish market, the eateries, some which still remain. It was not a tourist trap back then. Fun to see Mark here, I saw him eating in Istanbul.
Yey! Another amazing video 😍😍😍
Oh mark lots of your energy , you enjoy your food ,love family. I luv u and ur videos.
That was an excellent food tour/review. We're headed there in a few months for the first time and now my plan is to try every one of those featured places.
It's always a pleasure to watch your adventures, Mark. I love your positive vibe and the way you travel with your wife and son he is going to be a beautiful boy who loves every culture ❤️
I'dont like the way he doesn't include them more in his shots...
You are one great man Mark love from KENYA🇰🇪🇰🇪🇺🇸🇺🇸
IF YOU'RE IN WASHINGTON THERE ARE A FEW PLACES YOU NEED TO CHECK OUT:
1.HAMA HAMA OYSTERS (open daily @noon)
2.FINNRIVER CIDERY, FARM, AND ORCHARD (delicious cider and cocktails, food available Friday-Monday)
3.CHIMACUM CORNER FARMSTAND (local produce available year round all organic)
4.KEG AND I (a local pub featuring local brew, food, and music)
Pike place market clam chowder is DELICIOUS 😋
Another awesome video Mark, Ying, & Micah! Great food there in Seattle! Especially that Chowder! Looking forward to the next video bro'! More power and God bless from the Philippines!
$25 for eggs Benedict?! Markets used to be places where you could go for cheap locally sourced food...not anymore.
Lol yea but its fresh seafood
Not in Seattle..sorry..(Yess, it's pricey)
Yeah I remember when it was $24, damn shame
It's not plain eggs Benedict, that's a lobster egg Benedict, lobster ain't cheap.
It's a Liberal state, what do you expect?
I really want to thank you for your amazing videos, my daughter is a very picky eater. She would literally eat one meal a day but after watching your videos she says she’s hungry and asks for food
You are incredible Mike. Your enthusiasm and energetic videos. Never get bored of them at all at any cost. Hope one day when me and my husband visit Thailand, can really meet you. Keep on making videos like you do 😉
Great shows immediately became a fan from the first show, keep up the great work!!👍
Crab eggs benedict looked just delicious 😋😋😋 as well as the clam chowder. I did not know that Seattle had so many great food options, markets, restaurants!
Hello Mark, Ying, little guy Micah, and Jason! The foods look amazingly delicious! Wow! You guys are making way up the pacific coast of the North America!
Mark. Another mouthwatering episode. Although it started quite expensive with the Eggs Benedict. Even with the lobster I didn't think it was going to be so expensive but the rest of the dishes in the video were more reasonable especially the espressos. Seattle is a cool city. Even cooler was the gum wall. Quite smart.
Love this guys energy! subbed!!
Hi good morning Mark Ying and Micah I continue to enjoy you're videos tremendously keep up the good work you're both doing, great job. God bless everyone till the next video 👋 bye. 🍴🍝🍜🍖🍗🍤✈🌍

Athea-I have been looking for your comments and it has been a long time! Glad to see your remark!
Patricia Harvey HI good night glad to be here God bless 👍👍
His food vlogs are so different than others. I'm always looking forward for the videos. 👍👍🌶️
Seattle! The best clam chowder in the world!
this guy smiles constantly when he talks and its very endearing
I liked the tomato on the grilled cheese, I even dip grilled cheese in tomato soup. Salmon dishes are my favorite to eat in Seattle, I eat the chowder during the colder months. Honestly, I've eaten heartier and tastier chowder in the North East USA. Very Touristy area, much better to visit during the week, many meals $7 to $15 per person which is very reasonable.
Awww Mark, I'm so bummed you walked by (at least twice) Mee Sum Pastry in the Pike Place Market. They have been there for many, many decades (at least 30 years since I used to live/frequent), and they have the best BBQ Pork Hom Bows. Too, there's a great spot for gyros a few yards away, too. You have to go back, seriously! It's worth the trip, I promise!
I CAN'T BELIEVE HE FORGOT THE HOM BOW
Oh I can’t wait to go back to Seattle....The market is so fun and Seattle is amazing!
Love your content Mark, keep it up!
I can't help but complain about the food prices. Smoked salmon $34lb? $25 breakfast? $37 for two clam chowder? $7 for a single grill cheese? $15 for grilled salmon? SEATTLE...poor people need NOT APPLY!
@ivansfocus; nope and not planning to...or ever. There are better city with better food...and price. Not that I'm being cheap, I'll pay good money for good quality food. Nothing special about any of those dishes.
Pikes place matket is a very touristy part of Seattle so the prices are inflated.
Average rent for a 1 bedroom apartment in Seattle is $2k. Minimum wage is $15 + tips. It has consistently been the fastest growing city in the USA for nearly a decade. It isn't cheap by any stretch.
kaox44 - been eating at Lowell's for a couple of decades. Most breakfast plates (pancakes, eggs, french toast, etc) are $10 or less. They are large servings and usually more than I can eat. But you're right about the other places. They might be good, but I live here and wouldn't be caught dead paying that much for clam chowder or smoked salmon. They're tourist joints and overpriced.
Yeah talk about high prices... Campbell can chowder $1.97 a can...lol that make there's almost $18.00 a bowel redicoulous!!!; I know he had the bisq but still no wonder why the other couple split theres
Lov from Nepal !!!!! Always watch your video MARK........
Well Mark you all loved that tour. Seattle a great seafood city. Love SALMON. Salmon Benedict looked awesome. Pike Market just has everything. The grilled cheese w/tomato and basil. The classic chowder bread bowl looked awesome!!! The salmon meal was my favorite smoked salmon over rice with salad and the bread. It's so big. But all the whole fish they had that you could take home freeze it of course have one out to grill, fry, or bake oh my.
So glad you enjoyed my city! Much love to you, Micah, and Ying :)
I can't help but eat while I watch you 🤣 I love your channel.
Beautiful market & yummy foods 👍🏻
Dkfururjxj cas
You always make eating so delicious thanks I enjoy your travels and shows
Love Seattle! What dream to be there with all the seafood, mountain foods, farms and remote truffle farms of love,
Welcome to Seattle Mark! Great tour of the Market. Of course prices are higher there... a bunch of those spots are tourist stops. We are a pricy town generally speaking, but you can easily find amazing deals even in the market.
Mark! never miss your vids and have been viewing since you began. While I know the show is about your inter-action with the food and socializing with multi cultures I believe you could raise it up a notch if you were to include Ying & Micah more often in the videos. Keep making those great food vids.
I love all of your videos - especially this one.
The food look great Mark! Thanks for sharing.
Your son is the cutest and so well behaved! Your wife is awesome as well. You are a lucky man, love your videos! 😃
You make awesome travel videos
Great vlog, Mark! Pike Place Market is always a fun place to visit when in Seattle!
Dude! I just watched like 4 of your videos! Just can’t stop watching! Oh everything looks so good! LUCKY! Hahaha!
Love seeing the PNW in your videos! I live about 2 1/2 hours South of Seattle. I think what people don't realize is how touristy Pike Place has become which is why they can get away with such high prices (especially anything with seafood). I would be really interested to see you in Portland, OR!
Living vicariously through your adventures as always.
Always has been touristy... what ya talking about
And I'm so hungry right now.😋
Amazing show again Mark!
Love Pike Place Market. We always go there every summer.
That “pok pok” shirt 😂 he’s a legend for rocking it in public!
I'm in Chicago now, but let me know if you hit up Boston, Mark, and I'll head back home to Mass for you!
Oeò
My husband and I are going there this Thursday. Thanks for this awesome vedio. 👍
Love your videos!
Mark, Pike Place is a lot of fun to see. The seafood is legendary. It all looked so good. That clam chowder looked like a work of art! Yes it's pricey there, but the fact is, these people pay a lot of money for their leases and rents, then their electric bills, then their employees, and that's all before buying the products that they make and sell there. Going to Pike Place is a destination, just like Disneyland. I think Lowel's restaurant you ate at is where they made the movie Sleepless In Seattle. They have a couple of stools at the bar counter that tell you Tom Hanks sat there. The original Starbucks is always packed. What you showed here was only the top part. There are 2 or 3 floors of shops below what you see here. There are people who have been here for years and years and years. That's where the history comes in. I'm surprised you didn't see all the flower vendors. Beautiful bouquets of flowers. It is really fun going there. And $25.00 for CRAB Benedict was about average price from all the other restaurants I've been to, who sell crab Bennie. I would imagine the regular Bennie was a lot less pricey. For all these people who have commented, if you want lots of crab and pay around $25.00, go to the Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn Washington. Every Friday and Saturday night, their buffet is full of at least 3 kinds of crab, sometimes lobster tails, shrimp, salmon, smoked salmon, a full meat counter with brisket, prime rib, Indian tacos. And a full veggie and salad bar. Plus a desert bar. All you can eat of it, for $25.00.
i love when he includes what's going on during his day (like the guy discovering him) it feels like bts. :D
agree, i kind of waiting that scene when somebody on the street recognised him
so glad u made this video. Coming to Seattle soon. Hope to meet you one day.
I really like your food trip to Seattle. The place looks pretty and the food looks really good too.
So glad you got to finally come to Seattle, Mark!! I wish you could have done a cheaper more affordable guide to eating/dining in Seattle because there are plenty of places that nicer on the wallet!
Your son is so well behaved! I will be visiting these places when I go to Seattle!
This is awesome!
Mark u are the best very busy market and the video are the best
Seattle gang where you at🤗🤲🏽👐🏽
His reaction when he takes his first bite lol priceless
Every single time..i be waiting for him to frown because all the food does not look that good 🤣
In my home town! Yay! Love youre work keep up the great videos.
Hey Mark, I love, love all your videos!! I’ve been a fan since the beginning. How about doing a Q & A for the fans???
nice food!😍😋😋
Mark has the best mid bite reaction on CZcams .
It’s the only thing he does I can’t stand. Like I get it, it’s good 🤣
Oh yeah!
Mark makes me smile cuz he's eating but he seasons his plates so proud .
I love Seattle !! Really great video Mark !
Mark wines is the my favourite you tube channel
Lol im just laughing as Seattle is getting roasted for its ridiculous high prices..😂😂😂
@doro Hey, could you please elaborate a bit on the must go-to places for Asian and seafood in Seattle?
Watch deadly catch
You will see why is so expensive
I live in San Francisco and have been to Seattle. Pikes is a serious tourist trap. Everything there is ridiculous, and I’m use to SF prices. SF is pricey but $40 for two sourdough chowder bowls is nut job city crazy. Even tourist trap equivalent Fisherman’s Wharf here in SF doesn’t have 5he nerve or the balls to charge these prices.
If you’re visiting Seattle, Pike’s is a cool place to walk around and window shop, but you’re better off spending money elsewhere. The whole neighborhood is a trap. The original Starbucks is cool for souvenirs as they have mugs that you can only buy at that location but everything else is the same as your local Starbucks. The bakery is nice and decently priced for such a touristy spot. Still expensive it not insultingly expensive. The rest of the shops along the blocks all pretty much sell the same things.smoked salmon in vacuum packages. Prices are outrageous. You’re better off going to Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods and just getting smoked salmon from them instead.
Also, if you want great Asian food, you’re better off heading over to visit Vancouver instead. It’s not too far away from Seattle and the Chinese food there is amazing. It’s literally a mini Hong Kong. You’ll also get the advantage of the currency exchange rate. You’re money will go further in Vancouver over Seattle for sure.
@@SharingWhat then you should stay in California because we won't miss you
it's high prices for mediocre food at best they could have done better at Ivar's
Most SATISFIED AND HAPPIEST MAN, Iove you man..👍👊
Lowell’s one of my fave place. I always sit in the corner by window second floor. View is sooooo beautiful. Love their bloody Mary’s mmmmmmm lol. Oh u guys were on the top top floor. 🙌🏽
34.50/lb. Talk about fish robbery. Holy fawk
you can get 2 whole fishes for that price
Pier prices. it's just stupid.
Yep...wit no Fire arms!..lol
Shawn Cooper even 1/2 pound is just a piece of fish
Bumpy I'm talking about my country
Why cannot people watch, and seriously just appreciate Mark's travels. Most of us work, and are not fortunate enough to take that leisure of venturing out. Let's appreciate and support Mark. He travels with family and seems like a nice decent guy. Great job Mark!!!
My favorite city!!! I love Seattle and the surrounding area.
The part when you drink the espresso 😍 I need a cup of that urgently 😭
after seeing your videos i feel hungry
Mark has extra fast metabolism, otherwise he would be BigMark ;)
Haha
Love to see all different foods here👍
Having lived in Seattle, WA for 21 years, happy you enjoyed your stay. Still, traveling there once a month, make me miss leaving in Seattle. Come visit Pasadena, CA someday. I'm glad you travel with your family and get to experience what you're doing. My husband is an oncologist who travels all over the world speaking engagements and I get to enjoy my travel with him as well and enjoy eating out and trying the local foods. 😊
I like yr channel so much.
Mark.....please make sure your food co-hosts are as enthused as you are. They take away from your quality. We love Joel and Mika!! Your wife has it all. You're lucky. :)
Totally agree. Have no clue who Pok Pok man was, nor do I have any desire to know. He was more interested in his phone. Not sure why he was even there. 🤔🤷♀️
