  • I've read your comments on my 2nd "Fool Us" appearance and made this video to answer your questions. "Why did you tell them you practiced for 18 years?!" "Why did you catch 5 cards?" - All those answers and more. Here's a detailed play-by-play of what was going though my head before, during and after my performance.

I actually thought that you messed up when you caught like 5 cards. However, when you explained how you purposefully adjusted your fingers in order to do just that and showed that you could have caught only one card, my respect for you as a sleight of hand artist went up tremendously. Your dexterity and card handling skill are extraordinary.
You are one of my favourite working magicians today.

Performing in front of P&T is scarry even to the seasoned magician. Not to mention to the many people in the audience. The pressure to NOT to messed up is a possibility.

Wow I’m in awe of your talents but this video is super awesome too! What I mean is it’s one thing to perform and gain accolades in Magic, but it’s kind of a next level thing to create and post a video like this to honestly share your thoughts and self criticisms, etc!!! Very much appreciated, and well done!

The 'trick' is great but what I like best about the performance is how excited that Alyson appears to be. I think that getting your audience excited in anticipation for seeing something amazing proves just how good you are at what you do. Keep up the good work!

I so love you highlighting Teller's reaction after Penn tells him. Whenever I go back and watch the videos of this appearance, that part of the video blows me away. As Penn said, "when you fool Teller, that's when you fool us!" But to go even further and see Teller so clearly amazed and in awe - wow that gets me every time. And what an absolute compliment to you. Of course, your performance is always so much fun to watch - I don't mean to downplay that. And I'm so thankful that you gave us this commentary and reaction. It's a delight!

I love the fact that Kostya says several times "I don't need someone to call out their card for the trick to work" without mentioning, (at least to the part of the video I've gotten to) that he proves it IN THIS VIDEO!. When he ruffles the deck, to mimic what he did with Penn. When he flips that extra card just like he did with Penn, *It's the five of diamonds he stops on, and what card does he snatch from the deck the first time?

Kostya, I love how much passion you put not only into your magic abilitys, but also into spreading magic. You really try to bring magic closer to people by showing them how complex a trick can be - endless methods can have the same effect. The ideal way would be that someone taking a trick puts his individual touch to it.
You often say, that you‘re so glad that you've been invited to that show and Penn and Teller gave you that opportunity. I tell you what: Millions of people including me and thousands of magicians around the world appriciate you and the work youre doing!!
Hope to See more of your „amazing stuff“ like Penn Said ;)

Wow, as a P&T fan this was some really great insight into certain aspects of the show like the cuts that I've thought about before but so far never really gotten any information. Funnily enough, just last week I thought about the very same thing you mentioned, how we (spectators) can admire getting fooled by magicians but never really respect the true amount of skill and training that went into it. I really wish that I could learn about every magic trick only to be able to appreciate how good that performance actually was. Of course not right away but maybe in my final days so until then I can still live a full life getting fooled by magic tricks.

Penn talks about the magician vs juggler often on his podcast, maybe because he's both.
What struck me is when he said that the reason magic looks like magic is that we can't imagine practicing the moves as many times as the magician is willing to practice them. When we see a juggler, we get a sense of how much practice it took, even though they actually practiced 10x our estimate. But with a magician it's like 100x our estimate of how much practice it should take.

I've been waiting for this video since you did the last one for your first performance! It really gives an insight to how much more the 10 minutes that we just see. Sometimes the magician keeps their persona so well that when Penn and Teller get fooled the Magician lets down their performance face and you see expressions of elation and fulfillment, it's incredible to see the change in those faces.

I've been dealing with stage fright for almost 25 years. Despite concentrated effort, never was able to conquer it.
Just the thought of someone going up there with a very high risk trick like this, I really felt the breathe you let out as you were getting the rhythm.

    • @KostyaKimlat
      @KostyaKimlat  Před rokem +1

Thanks for your comment. I don’t think stage fright is something you have to necessarily conquer like an enemy. And concentrated effort only makes you more aware of it.
Instead, you can find something else to focus on once the performance starts (your technique, the script, the audience, their reactions) and it will go out of your awareness.
As you perform a trick 100+ times, the prior experience builds a confidence that makes it go away. Minute by minute, you learn to be comfortable on stage for longer periods of time.
But the nervousness before the show could always be there and that’s a good thing. It forces me to be present and pay attention. Treat it like a untapped source of energy…

It actually makes the initial performance that much more mindblowing - and shows how much consideration is paid to so many small deliberate distractions throughout the trick. Additionally, the beauty of this 'bust' is not that they identified a gimmick the trick used, but that you were busted purely for the skill of sleight.

I am a fan of magic since i saw it first time perhaps about 50 years ago, i dont know how good the performer was, but good enough to fool me..I think and that is for everybody who is on your level, no matter what they do, e.g. sport etc etc, 99% see only the results, never spend a moment of time to think how much time and energy it cost to get to this point.. congrats
I watch and it relaxes me, it amazes me, it takes mi to an other world an other time even to love it so much that I like to perform it, well i dream about, but I know it not for me to do..I love you and your time to make this video, it gives me an different perspective of magicians and how much it cost to become a GREAT one..I know you are one off the GREAT once..cheers ( BTW: I like magic even more since i can understand English...thats magic for me , well a sort off :)
BTW: I saw the video when u performed and am so happy to find your video as well, makes it much more appreciative , thanks for doing this, you are amazing and it makes me enjoy that you enjoy what you do, you are a PRO my friend

It doesn't matter if the trick didn't go as you wanted, it was awesome and impressive

Screw anyone that gives you crap for grabbing multiple cards. Most people's hands would be shaking so much those cards would all be on the floor. That said, every time I watch the video of this performance (and I've seen it many times), I really feel for you that in the moment you felt you needed to make the choice to play it a little safe. I know the impulse (I once had the chance to play for 20,000 people and I was terrified), but you only get those really big opportunities a few times in life and I know you wish you had gone for it. I would have loved to have seen you do the trick there the way you did on the news show on your other video. It is really amazing when you don't even ask their card. But it was still great and you could tell both of them were really impressed with the skill.
