- Over a year ago I had the good fortune to help my friend Dave rescue yet another truck from the former collection of the late Bill Craib. Sadly many of the trucks in this video series have been scrapped. A lucky few were saved.
Check out some the past footage from this property below.

Man that just breaks my heart to see all those old girls forgotten by time, I hope someone saved the R model and both those lowboys. Thanks for bringing us along.
On the upside, there were no Generals sitting there
My first truck was a 1964 R-190 tandem dump. It had a Red Diamond 450, 5 and a 3, and hydraulic brakes. My dad and I made one good engine out of three bad ones. I had no money, no job, and my first kid on the way. Those were the good old days.
I like the 1980 R model.
Definitely a nice combination going down the road.
Sad to see all these classics left to rust and die but I will say Im glad I live in an area where I still see many classic pre emission trucks on a daily bases
Look at those beauties! Hope the ones that were sold went to good homes. Too bad the others were scrapped.
Some did make it. The wrecker at the end was one of the lucky ones.
@@Dailydieseldose315 thanks for the update, hope that beautiful tandem mack R model with the low bed got saved. That autocar dump with the cracked frame would have made for a great restoration project too…
Thanks for taking us along on this trip back in time. I never saw a B model Mack in the Acme fleet. I remember coupe-cabbed White 9000s of the early 60's and the later Autocar cabbed 9000s and 4000s from the late 60's. Also love the Autocar "Rolling A" hood ornament like the one @ 7:07, even more than the Mack Bulldog.
The Autocars that wear the rolling A are my favorite years. They usually had the white steering wheel and dash. Great look.
That's sad. My grandfather retired from Acme mkts in Pa. Before they closed. I remember those B models. Loved them!
I just want to thank you for bringing us this content. Some of those trucks bring back wonderful memories of being a semi truck crazy kid. 😊👍🏾❤
Damn, that was some seriously cool stuff there. Truly hope the saveable stuff got saved.
A good amount did. I'll cover a few in my last video about this place.
Wow, sad to see this vintage iron in such dis-repair...you mentioned what wasn't sold was scrapped, my guess more than half was scrapped....thanks for sharing..be safe!
God Bless!!
I can honestly and proudly say I’ve driven a White Mustang dump. It was gas powered and quite a handful.
You had to think about what you were doing in these old trucks or they would drive you!
It's a shame a lot of old iron ends up going to waste and sometimes it has everything to do with the owner, same holds true for classic cars & trucks
A lot of times owners will price stuff into unobtanium and would rather watch it rot back into the earth than see someone make something of it
Yeah there's a guy up here that has a whole farm full of old trucks and cars and he won't part with any of it. A guy came 400 miles with $3000 cash for an old firetruck and the farmer didn't like him so he told him to get lost
That's sad. My grandfather retired from Acme mkts in Pa. Before they closed. I remember those B models. Loved them!
Quality & Service forever
Good find! It never gets old👍
Watching the earth claim its own.a nice video, but with a melancholy touch
Thanks, I enjoy watching this. ✌🏻👍🏻
There is NOT a lot to save - and the rattelsnake loves these old trucks , May your god be with you
Once there gone there gone. Some neat stuff there.
Love the video!
Wow... thankyou
Great vid!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ya would think that they could scrap them for parts for folks that need them. Alot of folks are looking for parts and ant get them. Even if parted out, at liest the parts are still on the road
I drove a B-61 and many R-600 and too many others in the 31 years between 1980 and 2011 to remember them all.
I would loved to save that Terex loader,Rogers trailer as well as that GM service bdy truck next to the Autocar dump.
Yeah that Chevy was cool. Too bad I barely looked at it. I was overwhelmed lol.
Bet with a little elbow grease and fluids, that R model might fire up and move under it's own power
I hope some of these went to good homes and will be restored or at least used for parts...
That autocar frame would have been good for another year with that crack v ground and welded, those horizontal cracks aren’t as major as they look, it’s a vertical crack that will do a truck in, and even those can be patched up to last a long time with a custom bent c channel sleeve and some welding.
I'm hoping this one was spared at the last minute.
From the length of the hood on the R model wrecker I’d bet it either had the V 8 Mack or some other engine manufacturers engine in it. The longer hood was always the tell tail sign
I believe it has an 8v71 Detroit. If you check out the channel @ol2stroker he has a video about it.
We will take our passions to the grave
You guys gotta check out adlers antique autos in stephentown
Hey Matt, Autocar etc interiors worth a look maybe. Plus many other makes
#dieselcreek
Damn where can i find a breather top like on that R Model.
So weird to think that qll of these old boys were stompin the pavement way back in the day
Thank you. I think that all trucks go to scrap.
Like #21 Question) could you have saved them? Answer) I daydream about that 51 Chev 800 tandem. Not realistic where I live in Canada to get something that far away, even if it was free. I need to add another "0" to my yearly wages. hahaha. And I can't cross the border anymore being un-poked. We have a old tymey international dealer here. There are so many Old Binder 160, 190's around here in the bush, peoples farms...etc. Its a gold mine of the "R" model in my area, if you're into these models.
That R model with the low boy was driven there and parked. I’m sure.
My uncle quit buying new equipment ages ago, he buys used and for half the cost of buying new rebuilds it, takes more abuse and lasts twice as long, master mechanic, owns a trucking company, as he says?.
Where are these located at
i know a youtuber who may be interested in the lowboy. he has 2 mackR and old trailers that he uses to farm
The Autocar T/A dump with the cracked frame @8:39...unrestorable?
Probably not if you know what your doing.
@@Dailydieseldose315 Agree 100%, all it takes is time, money & determination.
Why were so many companies named Acme?
😔
Theres some out in the boonies
“No, I won’t take a dime less than $3,000 and if you don’t pay that I’M SCRAPPING IT TOMORROW” (scrap value is $1,200)
Who else has been there, especially with estate sales. They won’t even begin to consider a cash offer of scrap price or 10% over scrap price but will pay to have it hauled in for scrap and get 20% less than scrap price and 30% less overall. I never understood why these estate and auction companies will throw away dollars to pick up a few Pennies.
You sure as hell don’t see trucks work for 30 years anymore.
White 4000? Looks like a 440
sad!
Owner would never sell one nut and bolt for a million dollars.
Very nice as usual!
