I was expecting so much more hate on the Tesla, but the fact that every one of your boys was blown away by the sheer exceleration of this car and had massive grins like kids in a candy shop made me laugh to myself uncontrollably. Electric cars have gone a long way in the last 10 years, I'm sure in another ten years we'll see an even more drastic change. I do agree that the battery range is the issue, especially when your a speed demon that battery drops quick, you need to drive like a little old lady to get the actual estimated range. Canadian winters don't help with the range much either but they are fun as f*ck driving in the snow and ice. Can't wait to get the Cybertruck and see how it does in the mud!!

@@PiDsPagePrototypes Have you driven one? I haven't but it has always annoyed me the top part of any steering wheel blocking the gauges, and especially the high beam indicator light. I was noticing the other day that I mostly drive with one hand at 10 oclock whether highway or cranking the wheel around, so I don't get the complaints.
@@jaya8352 well there isn’t a 10 o clock position for a start off. I’ve never driven one but I know I’d hate that steering wheel.
@@jaya8352 I've driven other cars fitted with them. They make sense for where you have full steering deflection out of under 180 degrees movement. Open Wheelers are ideal, same with drag cars, but the moment you need to turn further, its a pain. Check out Randy Pobst's videos from Pikes Peak, it'll make more sense.

Ok if you want to diagram it maybe it's 930 or 1030, point is I noticed the other day that my hand rests on that spoke all the time anyway, so why do I need the unused top of the circle blocking my dash view, and especially the high beam indicator, which while night driving, every car that approaches head on I'm bobbing my head around to see if the indicator is on but blocked by the wheel, true story happens all the time to me.
You can think it's yucky and make pukey faces even though you've never tried it, that's your prerogative. I wish my truck had it.

Yeah, but he finally gave the game away when they were doing the engine swap and they showed under the hood for the first time....... I mean, we all knew there was an LS with a big Turbski under there, but the Cat is finally out of the bag so to speak.
So hard to judge how fast it really is in video due to it being so quiet. The sound of a gas motor bouncing off the limiter always makes something SEEM faster. These Teslas are deceiving with how quiet they are...especially AWD with no crazy wheelspin. Love it!

I think all the Tesla's do a great job with their feel though!
The steering is really quick and direct, center of gravity is very low, perfect 50/50 weight distribution so the car pivots in the center, you get a lot of road feel through the wheel and pedals despite it being electric power steering, and the accelerator reacts to your changes within I believe 10 milliseconds.
When you're flying around some mountain roads, you feel so connected to the road and in control. Mountain roads, drag racing, drifting, and donuts, it's all a hell of a lot of fun. Just wish more people gave it a shot before dismissing it!

I think the run at 3:12 is one of the better visual representations of the speed I have seen from any PLAID video. Watching how quickly they pull away from the gate in the background and how quickly it dissipates from frame.

Cleetus should put it in Truck Mode (that came with the new update), disable ABS and change the power distribution between the back and front weels for ultimate expirence, and also do a few drift donuts.

its not a betrayal. I am a huge car guy and have been a technician for 15 year. I do motorsports with a combustion car and drive an electric car daily. If you really love cars it does not matter what it runs on if it makes you excited to drive it!
This is my thought also. Ice cars will always have a place in my heart but anyone who doesn't think EVs are incredible really need to experience it first hand.

The power band is really different from any car I have ever driven, there is no lag when you hit the throttle, the response is immediate and impressive. It’s strange not having the roar of an engine to give the sound sensation to go along with the speed.

Cant deny how impressively fast these cars are. Doesnt hit the old heartstrings like the note of an internal combustion engine but cool to see the potential of electric cars coming to fruition
If you have the adapter, you can unplug a stove or dryer and plug the car in. With the right setup it should charge about 8x faster than a regular wall plug.
They should just put in a dedicated circuit, might be tax deductible or the electric company will “sponsor” the install for someone like Cletus.
I'm sure they have a ton of welder plugs they could use. Or other 220 stuff at the track.

They are legendary but too bad you can not legally drive them on the roads, well unless it is one of the Left Hand Utes conversions where they marry the Ute body to the Pontiac GTO or G6 cutting down the Pontiac body down to only keep the firewalls. They even made a what if El Camino SS version with the Chevy Caprice front end and body kit. Looked wicked. But that is the only way we can technically have them street legal here is for that company to purchased wrecked bodies form Australia and Frankenstein them onto their US siblings. So if it comes from them then it is legal, but if it is an imported complete running vehicle I think it can only be used on closed circuits or something, which shouldn't matter on this channel.

@@fauxque5057 I think as time goes on and the aftermarket scene starts to get bigger, we'll start to see EV builds. Right now it's pretty awkward to get good parts. Tesla makes most of the best EV components but doesn't sell them outside of selling whole vehicles.
As much as people can dislike it due to the lack of sound, it's very hard to dismiss the power and fine torque control! They're going to be amazing for some dedicated drag cars in the future, such quick control of the torque to the wheels is perfect for a perfect launch with little to no slip. Think about how that Plaid launches on rough surfaces in the video, now imagine that drivetrain in something similar size to Leroy, would be insane. Crazy times!
