as a long time modern player, seeing the way they’ve been treating the format, printing COMMANDER decks for the MODERN centric set feels like a kick in the teeth

Well commander is the only format that matters anymore it’s not 2015 where you could walk into a card shop and find someone to play 60 card they are all playing commander now

That's not an absurd price at all for a 100 card deck. You can make decks for less that's definitely true but 150 is literally $1.50 per card

Yeah people have been paying for 150 dollar precons, they are typically actually good for that price tag though. Not just literally basic precons
Problem is modern challenger precons would be DOA , as the rare count would have to be well above what wizards would print to be remotely competitive.
Of course as we all know printing powerful cards is more expensive than printing weak cards XD

Hyped for the fetchlands. I missed out on khans, and while they might be cheaper to get singles of the thrill of getting one from a pack will be well worth it

I hate to say it, guys, but the days of the Constructed formats may be numbered.
Formats like Standard were created to perform the role that Pauper fulfills now, and of course to push card sales to an overlapping customer base of casual and competitive players.
Except now there’s barely any overlap, and price-points have made anything that forces you to continually expand your cardpool ever more expensive to simply participate in.
Put things another way: Formats like Standard, Modern, and Pioneer originally existed so that no one would have to deal with moneybags pay-to-win advantages.
Add to this that EDH is simply *cheaper* (By a LOT) to participate meaningfully in, so the casual players new competitive players came from are adopting EDH as their initial, and in many cases *only* format of MtG they play, and….yeah.
Things aren’t looking great for 60 card constructed formats.

Look I only play Commander, and the Eldrazi deck seems funny (not touching any Collector products ever unless they’re real special and cool), but it’s literally MODERN Horizons make some challenger decks. Completely absurd, there are so many Commander precons coming out at all times that it’s almost overwhelming. Don’t get me wrong, I adore picking up a precon, it’s super fun to go through the cards I own to see if I can switch some stuff out but man there are so many.
I don't like any of this but I'm sure it will sell.
Please just let us play the precon cards in Modern.

Haven't we been buying $150 commander decks for a while now.... nope never purchased a single commander deck and won't start at a $150. The eldrazi deck is only five colors because waste is not a color in magic it’s not forest or island or mountain or plains and swamp

Why is there a dang commander set within a MODERN set? I...don't get it? As a commander player, what was the point of Commander Masters if we are going to get better (?) decks in a set not meant for us.

@@benlarson6031 they have Commander specific products for that. And Commander was birthed from the combination of formats. However this set is specifically targeted to one format. Keep riding on Wizards if you want but modern players and probably standard players would not like the invasion of Commander in a set specifically for another format.

Make no mistake I believe standard decks should exist for standard and Challenger decks for modern.
Commander shouldn't have to encroach upon a modern specific set especially considering we have Commander Masters. So they could have just done Commander Masters 2 or commander horizons.
