    1. Always drive in separate cars.
    2. Always take separate flights.
    3. Never admit to violating the no contact order when questioned.
    4. Do not show ID to police except when legally required e.g. driving when accused of a traffic violation or if reasonable suspicion of some other crime exists.
    5. If living together evaluate risk of moving back in: would a neighbor report you?

    I don't understand my wife's lawyer:
    1. Her mother hates me and got my wife to file an OP and divorce.
    2. At the OP hearing, my wife's lawyer entered an exhibit showing texts I did not send. But the judge did not believe me (why not check cell phones?) and kicked me out for 1 year last August 2022.
    3. Two months later, my wife modified the OP to allow talk via text and email which is going great.
    4. I have not violated the order.
    5. A month ago, her lawyer got mad because I filed a complaint against him for submitting a falsified exhibit. He said to me in an email that they are going for another 2 years of protection this August.
    So, I don't understand:
My wife wanted to talk, we talked, I have not seen her or my children in 9 months,
and... now they want another 2 years?
Why would the judge grant that???

@basicprogrammer6147--please tell me you have an attorney representing you. If not, you need to hire one ASAP. Do not attempt to fight any part of the protective order on your own. There is a process called an evidentiary hearing in which the issues with the texts in question can be addressed before a judge. Filing a complaint was probably interpreted as threatening behavior and this violates the order. Yes- her lawyer can absolutely advise her to extend the timeframe of the order if he feels it’s in her best interest. You need to consult an attorney about ANYTHING regarding this order. Your job is to comply with it and insure you are doing everything within the directive of that order (required classes, MH eval if directed, etc, etc). You want to look as good as you can in front of the judge during your final review and do nothing that can lead to a contentious relationship with your spouse and/or her attorney.

No contact means NO CONTACT by any means. You cannot call, text, email, Facebook, etc to attempt to contact them. I saw a case where a guy was under a no contact order. He attempted to contact his spouse by changing the name of his Netflix profile in such a way that it was actually conveying a message. Of course he knew that his spouse was using that account and would see the new profile name and thought he was outfoxing the system. Well, the Judge found him in contempt and sentenced him to 93 days in jail.
If you are are under one of these orders, you better understand what “no contact” means and fully comply with it.
