I grew up watching The Golden Girls, but was young enough that a lot of the jokes went over my head. As I’ve re-watched as an adult, OMG! They are savage and so funny!! I’m glad you are enjoying them! As someone else mentioned, Niles vs. CC from The Nanny is another good one to check out.
This and "Designing Women" were on the same channel and I'm from the south, but I loved their accents. Julia sticking up for Suzanne then saying that was the night the lights went out in Georgia is ingrained in my memory. I've been seeing videos reacting to Golden Girls and have yet to see any clips from 3:10 scene or Rose cutting into cantaloupes at the store see if they're ripe. They're dressed up and wearing makeup at home even when they're sick!

one of the best shows ever! not only was it freaking hilarious, they touched on topics that were still sensitive at the time like the lgbt community, hiv/ aids, anti semitism, racism. and in real life, the actresses all really cared about these issues too. it wasnt just part of a script for them, these topics were close to their hearts, and what many dont know is be arthur (dorothy) and estelle getty (sophia) were jewish in real life, so touching on anti semitism, which wasnt really discussed, was important to them.
