The Golden Girls were ahead of their time
Yes they were
Golden Girls is my jam... Dorothy always had the most savage burns
Not Now Not Ever Sophia
Sophia was straight up savage! She did not hold back. Get her in a room with Thelma Harper
*"Eat dirt and die trash"* -Blanche
"Better late than ... " "PREGNANT!" >-D
People who complain about Married with children, don't remember Golden girls. Everyone was free game back then.
two of my all time fav shows along with MASH back in the day.
Both MWC and GG had a lot of the same writers, most notably Richard Vaczy and Tracy Gamble
Man Married with Children was hilarious af too lmao....The Golden girls is my fave tho
For shame... all this mention of classic sitcoms and no one said All In The Family, M.A.S.H was great glad to see that on the list.
@@darkashtar Yes! And what about I Love Lucy! Or am I REALLY dating myself here!
Betty White was the oldest of the group
And she’s the only one still going
That’s insane
"The Golden Girls" are every Grandmother, Aunt, Mother, and Best Friend I've ever had. It's been a wonderful life.
The Golden Girls have passed the test of time. There is a Golden Girls themed cruise starting in February, tickets sold out fast, there is a waiting list. We watch the show at my house, I don't like much on the tele now a days, and it is nice to see younger people enjoying the show. This is just a moment of their humor, yes you should watch all the shows when you can
If these ladies were real I would always be in their house! I Love Golden Girls!
Yes. They would be the ultimate grandmothers to live with.
Best sitcom ever! I used to watch it as a teenager in high school and didn't miss a single episode and so did my friends. We would talk about our favorite scenes and jokes the next day, that's how savagely good the show was. All four characters were equally funny, you just couldn't pick a favorite.
Go get the entire series and make sure to watch it with a nice piece of cheesecake. Every episode is a classic my man!
"Condoms Rose! CONDOMS , CONDOMS, CONDOMS!" - Dorothy Zbornak
The fact that this show is still funny and relevant is a result of great talent and some quality writing
Funny thing is, the one playing the old mom, Estelle Getty, was actually younger than both Bea Arthur and Betty White.
When you think of this show you think aww a sweet little comedy about four older ladies but nope lol, it was very racy for the decade it was on and very funny, but it’s true that you appreciate it more as an adult. I watched it when I was very young but didn’t understand it until I was much older.
Exactly!! I always say the exact same thing as you, it's my favorite show no, and I also never realized how they're not even that old lol 😣
"How do you say 'vulnerable' in Spanish?"-Blanche
Betty White needs to live forever, she's a treasure.
This show can be found on Hulu. One my favorite shows of all time. ❤️
*Golden Girls is my FAVORITE FREAKING SHOW I'm so glad someone's actually doing this...this is a whole different league*
People wouldn't peg me for watching for this show, but I ADORE this show. Love the humor and their delivery was always on point. I used to watch it when I couldn't sleep.
Golden Girls one of the greatest sitcoms, timeless comedy.
Bea Arthur became my hero when she left $300,000 in her will to help the homeless LGBTQ in New York. She was a huge advocate, and raised money for them for years.
Years ago when a friend of mine and I were toying around with a new vision of Hamlet, we "cast" Bea Arthur as Polonia. The idea came to me when we were working with the scene where Hamlet, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern return to the palace and are confronted by the King's chamberlain, who wants to know what the hell they've been up to. I suddenly saw Bea standing there with her arms crossed, looking down imperiously at these drunken dumbasses, and the whole role rewrote itself in my head for her. What a pity it could never come to pass. * sigh *
@@Serai3
That sounds absolutely MAGICAL! I can't think of a better role for her.
She was messed up.
@@EmilyGloeggler7984 how so?
This is my all time favorite TV show. I watch it every night when I go to bed. Had to buy the whole series on DVD because Hallmark shows Christmas Movies for three months out of the year. These women were ahead of their time and each one brought their own special quality to the show. It wouldn't have been the same without all of them, and became apparent once Dorothy left the show and they tried to do a spinoff called "The Golden Palace". Incidentally there is another spin off from the show that was called "EMPTY NEST". It was a great show too.
God Bless Betty White, the last one still with us here in the land of the living. Though they all had great careers and did other shows, "The Golden Girls" will always be what they are most famous for. I wish someone would do a re-boot, but will they ever be able to create that magic that these four women had? I doubt it...
You will not regret watching these old shows from the late 80-90's... There are 7 seasons. That's a lot of shows to catch up on. ♥
They will never be able to recreate the magic of the these four awesome ladies!!!
My favorite too!! Blanche is my favorite but I obv love them all.. so glad it's on hulu i watch it every night to fall asleep
I go to sleep watching them on hallmark too. Not into the christmas stuff
I think that a reboot would be ill-advised. If they want to put together a show featuring 3 or 4 sassy women, fine, but don't call it Golden Girls (or Designing Women!)
Golden Girls I don't think there was an episode that wasn't funny. Betty White is Queen B to me lol she's been acting and in comedy for eons now. (she's now like 97) you'll have to google her to see everything she's been in.
I love her St. Olaf stories.
Yasssss I be rolling like they just came out 😂
The Golden Girls was such a great show.
I always loved Dorothy!
Heather Nelson I was born December 1981 and when this show came on I was 4 in 1985
*Seeing these out of context aren't even a portion of how funny it really is 😣 go watch it on hulu!*
Another show that had a lot of funny quips was Frasier. He and his brother Niles told some real zingers.
Some other video clips you might like are from The Nanny. The butler Niles and a woman named CC were always slinging zingers at each other.
Absolutely 2nd this
Ah! Another Frasier fan! Nice to meet you haha
@@pyreneesgal5823 nice to meet you haha
Yes you need to watch “the Golden Girl”, it is such a funny show. I loved watching it and have the DVD’s for every season
Hallmark channel usually plays several episodes twice a day except when they’re doing their holiday movie marathons like now! Usually comes on early morning and afternoon/evening. Everyone but Bea Arthur (Dorothy) was on a short lived sequel called Golden Palace that had Cheech Marin in it.
Tia Elina me too!
Hulu has all seasons and I binge watch alllll the time. Classic!!! 😂❤️
I been watching the golden girls since 96 and I still laugh in 2019... I love this show. You will never get a show like this ever again. The Golden Girls is on Hulu you will not be disappointed.
This took place in the 80's. My mom and I watched the show. So funny.
Sophia was the best! Unfortunately three of them have past away.. but Betty White is still alive and well!
Yeah, she was. It is sad three of them are dead. Betty White is awesome.
Same here. It would come on Saturdays nights on NBC.
WKRP in Cincinnati was a great series, ahead of it’s time.
Kelly, I love WKRP in Cincinnati. My dad owned a radio station back then so he would laugh so hard. I remember my dad and I laughing so hard we had tears rolling down our faces. It was a head of its time.
soulful41 some episodes are on here, lol.😊
Remember the turkey episode? “ dropping like bags of wet cement”
@@Caperhere, I remember that one. Carlson thought that turkeys could fly. The one I remember the one where the new disk jockey was selling cocaine out of the station and Carlson put it in his shoes because he thought it was foot powder. He had no idea what cocaine was. LOL....
@@Caperhere My mom laughed so hard and long at that scene I thought she was going to pass out.
I cannot give the golden girls enough praise as a show, it still REALLY holds up even now. I was enjoying myself every single episode
I watched the Girls with my grandmother. They came out when I was 13 . 1985. The jokes are timeless.
I was was watching the golden Girls up stairs in tv room years ago and my nephew knocked on my door and asked me if he could watch TV with me. He had only been watching for maybe 5 minutes and was laughing his head off, after the episode was over he asked when will it be on again and I said 5 minutes they would always show 2 episodes, he said I'm watching. my nephew is now 21 I have wonderful memories of the two of us watching the Golden Girls together and laughing our heads off. He Loved the , sarcasm.
Blanche on a date... can I fix you a drink he said no I don't want to put you out she said that's okay I like to put out. They were hilarious
My daughter and I used to watch reruns of this show when she was little.
Oh...
Today is her 27th birthday!!
The show originally aired from 1985 - 1992. Loved this show when I was younger!
You need to watch the scene where Rose explains "The Great Herring War"
The actress playing Sophia was actually the youngest of the four
Rue was the youngest....
Estelle Getty (Sophia) was born in 1923.
Betty White and Bea Arthur were born in 1922.
Reu Mclanahan was born in 1934.
And the oldest one out lived them all
@@VIKDR1 yep...Betty is the oldest...Rue was the youngest
Alan Robinson-Orr rue was youngest then Estelle getty
There was an episode in season 1 (I think)....Sophia went to say something shady as you could ever think of....Dorothy just looked at her and said "Shady Pines Ma!" to shut her up....Shady Pines was the name of the retirement home that Sophia used to live in before she moved in with the rest of the girls. And it had caught fire at one point and that was part of the reason she moved out. Estelle Getty was so great.
I love The Golden Girls. Can see this series it again and again.
Brings back fond memories. Watch the episodes cause these women got themselves into all kinds of trouble and had to join together to rescue each other. The show was actually loving in many ways but hilarious.
Insane how many millennials love this show!
Man I grew up on this show. It was BRILLIANT! And yeah, I started watching this pre-teen. I understood most of it. Even the stuff I didn't get at the time was funny, then I got it later on reruns.
LOVE Golden Girls. Used to watch them all the time. Seeing some of these reactions makes me want to watch them again.
The actress who played Dorothy was in the marines.
The Golden Girls is the best show in the 80s ever! I still watch the repeats every time they are on...every Sunday on TV Land. I grew up watching it and it reminds me of my mom and her two sisters and my grandmother. It was great watching it with everyone when we were living in FL and figuring out which of the girls was my mom and aunts. Only one left living is Betty White (Rose)
Funny thing about Dorthy & her mother Sophia is that the actress that plays Sophia is actually younger than the actress that played her daughter Dorthy...=)
I’m so glad you enjoyed the Girls! I get so happy when people become fans of our Girls. 💛
I love these are still showing...I can watch and re-watch Golden Girls. Love ya Betty White. Just saw her on a Talk show was Jason Momoa, I was so concerned for him!
I love love love The Golden Girls.
My favorite show of all time. Watching them right now lmao.
You wouldn't think young people (at the time) would be interested in this show, but my husband and I LOVED it. Just their timing on the delivery of their lines was top notch. RIP Bea Arthur, Estelle Getty, and Rue McClanahan. Betty White, we love you! Keep on rockin' girl!
I used to watch it as a young teenager and so did all my friends. You just needed to see one single episode to get hooked. We were really spoiled with great sitcoms back then.
The straight faces the actresses kept while the audiences were peeing their pants shows what true professionals they were.
I watch the Golden Girls on TVLAND chanel every Sunday morning starting at 6a.m until 4:30 p.m.
They are hilarious!
If I'm not mistaken I believe Betty White is the only living member of that foursome still with us.
I've binged the golden girls on Hulu more than once because I love them so much❤️🙌🏻 Legit the best show in the world and because of today's world, we'll never have another like it.
For me, hearing Bea Arthur say, "The Marines are looking for a few good men who have NOT slept with Blanche Devereaux." seemed a little bit funnier knowing she actually served as a U.S. Marine, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant before her honorable discharge.
Grew up watching them. They are funny.
I absolutely love this show I grew up watching it with my grandmother & my mom. I don't see how in the world they kept a straight face
Ahead of their time dude... unreal. LOVED this show, still do!!!
Noooooo where's Sophia's rant from season 1 episode 1??? Hearing her description of fire alarms in a retirement home....priceless!!!
that is the funniest show I have ever seen , I keep laughing even if I know by heart
Aww Ty, I grew up watching this every Sunday night and they had me doubled up laughing ...absolute classics!!!!
Bea Arthur (Dorothy) was a Marine in WWII. Love this show, have the whole thing on DVD
Really?? Very cool!!!
@@peggypenguin4268 yeah, she drove a truck
The Golden Girls is my all time favorite show! You must watch it! The episode where the house gets broken into is the best! Rose has a hard time dealing with it and buys a gun and shoots at Blanche and her date who accidentally sets off the alarm and Sophia says something like I've survived war, the depression a stroke but one night I'll belch and stable Mabel here will blow my head off! It's the funniest line EVER! Plus alot more!
My mom loved the Golden Girls, but I never watched them until the past few years. Yes, they are still on some stations. And they are hilarious.
My favorite show!! I've seen every episode multiple times and it never gets old!!
Thanks to reruns and my mother loving this show, I got to watch it growing up. I couldn't eat or drink anything while it was playing. I kept laughing and spewing out my nesquik chocolate milk and having food stuck in my throat. This show was my Sex and the City.
I hated this show back in the 80's, but started loving it almost 20 years ago.
Just a great show. Written for all four comic players. Always a good laugh.
The golden girls are Epic.
I love this show since the 80s .. I own the DVD's and watch them every now and then. The lead writer Susan Harris wrote her best lines for Golden Girls.
I love how they were all constantly trashing one another...how good comedy is supposed to be...if it’s funny, offensive or not, you say it
The entire series is on Hulu. You'll love it 😁
It's on Hulu my man. It's worth a watch. 🤣🤣
I know this show word for word. Brilliant writers! I'm glad you liked it!!
I watch at least 20 to 25 episodes of Golden girls every week...No lie, No exaggeration...And I still laugh like I'm seeing them for the first time...And I'm a 45 year old heterosexual male...Golden Girls and Frasier are my favorite sit- coms to watch...
The first huge hit that brought lots of, at the time, racy issues to the screen.
Thanks, LOVE this show -- have fond memories of being in middle school and high school watching this with my parents in the family room every Saturday night. Never gets old!
You'll definitely enjoy the show. The Golden Girls won many awards back in it's day
This was a great series and laughed every episode I watched. Love your reactions ..... Blessed be.
This show started when I was nineteen years old - 1984 and I have watched repeats whenever its on, love this show. It gave me a new perspective on being older as a teen and made me feel like I might enjoy being that age. Now I am the age they were on the show and I am enjoying it and I still watch the show and can see from their perspective.
You should do Designing Women also.
I love your reactions to the Golden Girls!!!
After taking a bunch of "Which Golden Girls character am I quiz" quizzes, I have been deemed Dorothy. I knew it. I'm a bit of a wisea**. :-D
Thank you! Best show ever!
Golden Girls was absolutely hilarious and to this day I adore Betty White. One of the best casting ever on TV.
Hey golden girls is in Hulu. Its worth your time to watch the whole series. This was my favorite show back in the day and I did watch this as a teenager cuz it was out at that time in my life
I grew up watching the Golden Girls and I think I’ve seen every episode! I still watch it on tv if I happen to see it on! A classic show that reminds me of childhood and makes me laugh! 😏
Thank you for this man! The Golden Girls is one of my favorite shows of all time and this really brightened up a dark day for me!
Golden girls was a very good and funny sitcom.
I watched this during its run on tv and laughed so hard. Got the entire series on DVD and they got a way with a lot verbally because they were older women and times were different. This kind of comedy will never go out of style.
I just turned 70years old I've been Watching this Awesome Show since it premired in 1985 I absoulty love it and my favorite Golden Girl. Is Sophia Petrillo
The show ran from 1985 to 1992. Extremely well written and acted. Funny, clever, unpredictable. All four of the ladies won Emmys for their performances. Highly recommended.
Hilarious! I was a kid but I remember this show. Lol
Been watching u a few days… nice channel. Love your facial expressions and yes the 4$ bit was hilarious.
I don't know if this bit is on here, as I didn't watch the whole video, but my favorite GOLDEN GIRLS comedy moment is when Bea Arthur befriends the snobby, bigoted author, who comes to a party with a guy who looks about 20 years her junior. She says something like, "This is Jason; he's in my creative writing course," and Rue McClanahan comments, "I didn't know you taught high school." I fell out of my chair laughing at that one.
I rewatch this show all the time! Anytime I need a good laugh!
This show was always WAY funnier than you'd expect. And yeah, it's hilarious how people were clutching their pearls about Married With Children and Simpsons, meanwhile Golden Girls is just out there doing the filthiest material a sitcom could get away with in the 80s and early 90s, haha. It wasn't exactly South Park, but it's still crazy to me that I was allowed to watch it as a kid, lol
Four of the funniest ladies on TV!!!!
You are so funny yourself, I’m not surprised you like the Golden Girls. They were always funny. My late mother and I were fans and “shared” them, even though I live in D.C. area and she lived in Florida. I was Pussycat and she was Sophia. You can usually find them even now if you just do a little channel hopping - well worth the effort! Loved your reaction.
This has always been one of my favorite shows. My grandma and I watched it when it first came on and reruns.
Rest In Peace Golden Girls.
Golden Girls has been my lullaby for the last decade and a half. Get in bed, turn it on and fall asleep with a smile, every single night. I think I know every single episode by heart and I still enjoy every scene. I can never choose my favorite Golden Girl. Great reaction, thank you .
Betty White is sooo much more than just a Golden Girl. She is legend, just awesome in everything she does. She and the actress who played Blanche (Rue McClanahan) were also both on a show called Mama's Family, which is also very funny and worth a watch if you can find it. Their characters are very, very different on that show than Golden Girls. Love your reactions, they are almost as much fun to watch as the show itself!
