Yeah, well over the last 25-30 years, this has always been par for the course when it comes to the local legal system.
Profits over public safety when it comes to sentencing. Just about every time, for every 1 that gets a heavy sentence, 11-15 other repeat or violent offenders get just a slap on the wrist.
As long as they have 1 case every so many months that they give substantial time for, about 30 other fatal/violent/habitual offenders get charge reductions and plea deals like the Guatamalean got.
People behind on child support and who commit nonviolent crimes usually get the longest actual sentences here.
The city council leaders are and have been an absolute joke as far as having Chattanooga residents' best interests and making the city better instead of just more profitable for them.
The whole Police Chief Celeste Murphy indictments are a fairly truthful & accurate reflection of the integrity and effectiveness of the majority of the council members.
