      Crispy clean! Hi guys, hi Allyn, how are ya? I want to get a new Toro lawn mower this year. I currently own a Toro 22” Recycler. I think it’s 10 years old. So I’m thinking about following your lead & just going with the Super Recycler. I noticed that the new Recyclers have the same engine (EXi 163cc) as the entry level Super Recycler. I guess those wedges make all the difference, that’s crazy. In your opinion... No need to upgrade to the EXi 190 cc engine? Please advise. Thank you sir!

    After months of reading reviews on the Super Recycler, I finally came across this video. Your full review had helped me with my decision. With just one use, I couldn't stop mowing my yard. I have the Toro brand engine in it. The engine is super smooth, and cut quality seems to be second to none. Thanks a million Allyn, this purchase finally turned me into a Lawn Care Nut

    Nice to see all the new changes you pointed out! Finally retired my old 2 cycle recycler recently after I picked up one of those 2020 no oil changes ever motor mowers sitting on the curb, all wheel drive 22 cut that had the piston rod through the block, swapped it with an old briggs laying around and now i have a brand new 2020 rig with fancy no primer bulb carb with dual air filter. I think this is going to be a thing where alot of these no oil change models sitting on curbs this spring summer & fall for free

    Nice mower. I own a Super Recycler for my half acre lot. Bought it a number of years ago. I remember the salesman said to me, " it comes with a bag, but you'll hardly ever use it." And that's true. I only use the bag for the first cut of the year. After that it's no bag at all and this machine gives a great cut, while not leaving visible clippings on the lawn, even though a huge amount of grass has just been cut.

Let me tell you I'm very impressed. No clumps no bogging down hell it even stripped good. We'll worth the money. Before I made the purchase I was going to get a used recycler but decided to treat myself to a new 2020 super. So far no regrets I'm so ready to cut my hole lawn tomorrow.

    I’ve tried the Toro and wasn’t happy with the cut but kept it for 5 years and last year bought a Honda HRX217 for about 830 bucks out the door because it had everything I wanted from the ability to mow from as slow as I needed to faster than I could ever go. Never even consider a Honda until one of your videos last year or year before and has given me the best cut I’ve ever received from a mulching lawn mower. That new Toro however in black looks good.

    • @adwhitex
      @adwhitex Před 4 lety +3

      I had a toro 20831 and thought it cut great but found deal on a hrx so I sold the toro. So far regretting it. The Honda doesn't mulch even remotely as well. I read a recommendation to run the rear height 1/2 a notch lower and it seemed to help but still not matching the toro. The control on the Honda requires much more finesse or it will run away from you unlike the toro personal pace. Interesting

    OMG you got the murdered Recycler!
    I love it!
    This year my Recycler died after seventeen years and I replaced it with a 60V Recycler. It’s fantastic!
    Note that I only use it monthly when I rake my lawn from corner to corner and de-thatch and am essentially using the mower as a vacuum. The rest of the time I use a manual reel mower but I can’t get over the 60V. Much better than the eCycler I tried and returned a few years ago and far better than the Husqvarna I tried and returned last year.

    I did spring for a 21387 version of this mower and so far so good. It has sold me a little bit on mulching. I am good with how it cuts, I may ask my dealer about the oil change and not needed to do that. i'm a little old school and while I'm not a stickler with oil changes I still believe it should be done every now and then. I look at condition more than hours as to whether it needs changing. As a lot of you said though, maintenence is key to keeping these running. My 1986 Lawn Boy 8480 runs and works perfectly. I just wanted something to go with it. As for the engine sound comparision, if i had to draw straws, the Briggs sounds a little smoother, the Toro engine sounds more like when you could get Tecumsehs on lawnmowers.

I lifted up the corner section of the mower just a fraction to take the weight off the wheel, and that lever easily moved into place. CHANGE YOUR OIL FOLKS!!!!! I just bought a Toro recycler, it has the “no change oil” feature and after the first mow, I checked the oil, it had metal flakes in it. The reason being that during the machining process, there was residual metal particulate, and during the break in period, the surface isn’t perfectly smooth, so while components are rubbing together, they are taking off the high spots, where do you think those flakes of metal go? In the oil. If you never change your oil, those metal flakes in the engine WILL eat away and destroy your engine!!

      @jg769 Před 3 lety

      Agreed. The “no change oil” claim just seems like a bad, bad idea. Anyone who hates the thought of changing mower oil should either buy an old-timey reel mower or an electric one.

    Fun video, and nice black mower. The red engine and details give a cool custom vibe. Oh! I actually found a gator type blade for the Super Recycler at Home Depot. I forgot the maker, but I scooped it up. When installing on the mower, I noticed the lift lip was higher on the new blade. This feature REALLY helps get a cleaner cut and the "gator" feature improves the mulching. Now go play in the yard!

    I believe that the “no oil changes ever” featureis for people who might forget to put oil when they change it. Perhaps it will only accelerate the wear on the engine and soon it will be replaced. While the murder matte black is pretty sick, I still say the killer bee scheme of my Cub Cadet SC100HW with the hub caps popped off is unbeatable for over all bad assery (see my love letter to rotary mowers video). Alright, I've owned a Toro high wheel personal pace recycler with the EZ stow since November and pretty much have used it every week on my lawn. Other then a few minor issues I have really enjoyed the way it performs and cuts. The personal pace definitely won me over. However the EZ Stow while seems like a good feature allowing for easy storage or changing a blade isn't a feature I'd purchase again and I didn't. I bought the solid black Super Recycler with the Honda engine last night online from Toro website. I did not buy the EZ Stow this time because there lies a problem that could happen if the engine isn't sealed properly. Mine leaked into parts it wasn't supposed to and ended up coming out my muffler and carburetor after letting it sit level for awhile before starting. I ended up having to drain the oil and cranking the engine to push the oil out before putting fresh in and changed the filter. It wasn't because I didn't lift the mower improperly, it was a design flaw. Luckily no damage was sustained internally. Because I mow neighbors yards I decided to upgrade to the Super Recycler. I was going to get the Honda mower but I really love the personal pace. The Super recycler has better components and built sturdier then the low grade residential mowers including a better filter. Those lousy tiny air filters they put on the low ends really suck because they get dirty fast. I also recommend those who love the mulching on these Toros to buy the Gator mulching blade. Best mulching and cutting blade I've ever owned. My other advice is be careful buying the EZ Stow.

    Good call on changing oil! That’s a deal breaker for me. No way I would ever let an engine especially add oil only. If not using synthetic, that’s a new mower every 3-5 years after the engine eats itself

      I'm totally agreed with you. I have both Honda and Briggs and i have no problem with them since I'm take care of them really well. Change the oil every like 6 months-12 months. I really don't understand why many people are not a fan of Briggs and Stratton.

      I think they’ve given up on getting people to change the oil... also so many people would just rather charge a battery

      @@Treeck57 because they use too much damn plastic and they cant seem to build an engine properly... not to mention many of their engines are made in China.

    Thanks for the video. Briggs and Stratton sounded less labored. I prefer the Briggs since it's made in USA and the ones I've had run forever.

    Nice video, LCN! Was wondering if you'd be willing to do a video on changing oil for the Super Recycler? I know it's not required for this model, but I'm a novice and would like to learn! I'm sure others would too! Thanks!

    I’ve never changed the oil on my Toro GTX. I’ve had it for 16 years now. Still starts in 1 or 2 pulls. I’ve changed the plug and blade. Cuts like a champ. I’m afraid if I change the oil now, it will take a crap. Lol
