Alright dude, this is what you need to do. In Cuba people have been able to upgrade their e-bikes by doing one of two things: OPTION 1: getting a control box (like the one you were trying to connect) which performs for a HIGHER voltage motor. i.e: your e-bike have a 72V motor. What you need to do is to get a controller box developed for higher voltages motor. Or, OPTION 2: You get a lower voltage motor (and this is the most common way to upgrade your e-bike in Cuba) i.e. Your motor is 72V so your controller box. In that case what you need to do is to get a 60V motor and let your controller box (nothing bad is going to happen) By doing it people in Cuba have been able to reach speeds from 80 to 120 Km/h. Also those e-bikes have another problem: their practical range. How far could you get with that one? I bet you never far away than 70 Km. Well, in that case what you need to do is to get another battery and make a connection so you can ADD the current of both batteries. Those batteries commonly are of 72V/20Ah, 72V/30Ah, 72V/35Ah, 72V/45Ah. I bet yours is 72V/20 or 35Ah (with 35Ah your range goes up to almost 100 Km.) So what you need to do is to get a 45Ah battery to increase the range. Any other question don't hesitate to get in touch. Good luck with that e-bike!!

I know that limiters come as a nikel-copper alloy current shunt of wich a microcontroller reads a voltage drop and reduces the pwm duty cycle, per phase, accordingly.
Also I know that windows virtual serial ports come out with stupid numerotations when a cp28xx (or similar) interface is plugged.
Also, some microcontrollers, mostly due to the software running, enable eeprom or flash programming only in certain situations, like at boot or when the rts/cts serial pins are waved. :)

So I have a Chinese electric bike in the Philippines. If you want it to hit 60mph you need to increase the voltage. Yes you can disconnect the governor and that will help a bit, but you wont jump 40% in speed. Chances are you have lead acid battery, so you would need to add another battery, and due to the size it most likely wont fit. The only option you will have is to build a custom lithium battery and that will probably cost you more than the bike. Probably not the news you wanted to hear.

Not to mention the cost of shipping it back would make him actually lose money. Most of the time they will say that “ will return purchase price when they receive returned product” knowing full well you won’t send it. If you do send it back for whatever reason, it’ll just get “lost in shipping”. Best advice is to make sure you don’t spend too much on anything from China. The 8000w feels equivalent to a 150cc-250cc, Inja most likely got a 3000w that probably feels like a 50cc

Don’t know if you have already realised but that is 2880watts it is stamped on the hub in V and A. Probably ‘rated’ at 3kw

  • @coffelt683
    @coffelt683 Před 4 lety

the hub motor says the power rating right on it. 72v 40h means 72 volts and 40 amp hours. You multiply them to get your max wattage rating which is 2880w in this case.

That motor is 2,880 watts of power max. Do you know even if the batteries are giving the full 72 volts at max power? Many things to test and check, but it just plainly appears to be grossly under powered on what was advertised.

Hello Inja, I've been following your blog as I too am a keen motorcyclist and for the first time was considering buying an electric bike for commuting to work (appx 30 miles). Thank you for your constant updates regarding your purchase. I will not be going electric anytime soon until its been properly tried and tested. And certainly not a motorcycle from ALIBABA (AliExpress)

I got a 12kw ebike from Leili ebikes on Alibaba and the second I started having issues they stopped messaging me back. I was even using WhatsApp to talk to a guy 1 on 1 regularly. Then my controller started pooping out and he disappeared.
They barely knew what they were doing when it came to getting my order correct. Even after correcting them via email OVER AND OVER they still mail me a bike with the wrong colored wheels and wrong seat.

They often have have multiple colors, in the pics, and worse, multiple designs. You need to get a pic of exactly what they're sending you before it ships if that matters to you. Then of course they stop responding if you have any issues.

Hey dude . I have a escooter in the fast . The top speed is 55kph - 60kph . And it will go faster like 75-80kph. when i plugged into the charger . It means the bike need more power . Like add more batteries and high amp batteries to get more power . Check your battery how high its voltage and amp

Also there is a way to manually reprogram the LCD. The LCD controls the controller and if the wrong input is put there obviously you will b going slow. Ages ago in 2016 I ordered a nice design Zoom 1000 watt China ebike. It was doing 24MPH max and I even bet my life on it that it was going to keep up with traffic and took it to work the next day. There was a lot of time I think every drivers behind me was just complimenting the design of it and had pitty on me for being slow otherwise knowing the traffic, I could have been seriously hurt. When I took it home and messing with the controls it was set at 32km and I was surprisingly increasing and decreasing it from there and took it out for a test run each time I increased it on the settings. So see if you can manually set it up or at least manually sees what’s the highest travel velocity it’s set as. They all should be able to do that, just different buttons.

You got what you paid for. Best you could get for $1500. In some way the seller wasn't totally dishonest. From the looks of it, the bike will do 5000W. Problem is it will only do it for a short period (like 30seconds) and provided some criteria is met (mostly good temps on the motor and controller, adequate charge, etc.). Think of it as overclocking. Afterwards, it will go back to 3000W. At 3000W you will only be able to do 65. At 5000W, you can manage 100kmph, but you wont be able to hold it since the controller will dial back the power soon.

It's basically a big RC car, the speed is most likely limited by the VESC or the battery voltage output. Not gonna lie, a battery that size would probably cost more than this machine is worth and a VESC that can handle large output isn't cheap either. The other consideration is the actual motor itself, assuming it's direct drive you would need to match the torque to the weight of the machine plus rider. Basically imo you are better off buying a 40 year old honda bike and making it run. *EDIT** If you can find out the size and wind count of the motor we can actually calculate the expected output per volt of this machine, also knowing if it is brushed or brushless would be helpful.

Just my thoughts, "if you didn't hear this before"
I would check the voltage of the batteries to see what its putting out. To me it looks like there is more room for more batteries so they might have only gave you half the voltage.
I agree with others in using a older computer for the serial port. had the same kind of problems with milling machine i made. it didn't like the USB adapter. A older desk top computer helped but not a older laptop for some reason. I didn't notice if the power was on with the bike when you tried to connect. It might need that, USB especially on laptops don't provide a lot of amps.
I hope I helped if not well, good to know you not alone and we all here to support you on this project.
Good luck and keep us inform on your progress.
