  • In this video, Mr Wilbert was sent to recover one of our viewers. The concrete mixer was loaded. Mr Wilbert's first attempt was unsuccessful due to the angle. Once he was able to get a straight pull on it the mixer started moving. Thanks for watching, don’t forget to LIKE, COMMENT, SUBSCRIBE, and SHARE this video!

      So true. I was picking up a 20' container onto a dolly, suddenly the asphalt under the dolly's stabilizer arm collapsed 18 inches into the ground without warning. I was fortunate the container only had ~15,000# of cargo, but the space I had to work in was only the width of a parking space...

    Very nice recovery Mr Wilbert. Mr. Hal this is a perfect example of why a Front Discharge is so much better then a Rear Discharge. A Front Discharge equals the weight over the front and rear axles. Most of the weight on that Mixer was on the rear axles and if it was equaled out the front axle would have sunk and the operator would have been able to back out before the rear axles got to the soft spot. The contractor should have used a Concrete Pump Truck on this job but that cost around $600.00 and they probably didn't want to pay for one. Even though I operate a Front Discharge I always get out and walk every where that I will be going to check the ground. Thanks for the video. Be safe.

      @SumterWrecker  Před 2 lety +3

    • @rickminnesota867
      @rickminnesota867 Před 2 lety +3

      That’s not true at all a front has the same weight on the rear axles otherwise it would not be legal to drive down the road A front just has six wheel drive so you can get it stuck worse !! Good job on the winch out mr.wilbert has balls of steel to pull that loaded truck out when leaning that far over Great job

    • @dandunning4409
      @dandunning4409 Před 2 lety +2

      @@rickminnesota867 I'll keep it family on Mr. Hal's channel but you have no idea what your talking about. I have 20 year's operating Concrete Mixers Front and Rear. A Rear Discharge has most of it's weight on the rear axles! A front discharge equals the weight over all the axles. If you look at this video it proves that I am correct. The front left tire drove over the same spot that the rear axles sank in to. If the weight was equal over all the axles that front tire would have sank just like the rear but it drove right over the spot without sinking. If the front tire had sank in that hole the operator would have stopped and been able to reverse out of that hole. The video absolutely proves that most of the weight was on the rear axles of that Mixer and that is also why they are so prone to rolling over.

    • @rickminnesota867
      @rickminnesota867 Před 2 lety +1

      Lol ok whatever you say. Let’s see 25 years and manage a fleet of 500 ready mix trucks fronts and rears I spec and purchase But your a driver so you know 👍 I can give you spec sheets for terex con tech Mtm and Oshkosh if you wish

    • @dandunning4409
      @dandunning4409 Před 2 lety

      @@rickminnesota867 Ok, Just watch the video a couple hundred more times and you can, well at least you should be able to see that the front (single axle) did NOT sink in the hole that the rear (tandom axles) sank up to the fender in. The rear has two set's of axles wich gives it more ground coverage. If the weight was equal that front tire that is not even close to being as wide as the rear two tires would have sank down to the frame just like the rear did. But it drove in the exact same spot and did not sink?? Simply because the most of the weight was on the rear axles!! I seriously don't care what a spec sheet says or how many times you have seen one, the proof is in the video. Managing a fleet looking at spec sheets can't change the obvious in the video. I'm not going to reply any further on Mr. Hal's channel. You can e-mail me a responce if you like but it will not change the video. Please keep it professional as this is a family orientated channel. ddunning139@yahoo.com is my email address if you need to respond. Happy Easter..

      They might have at the very least had a skid steer on site to unload the mixer with. The tractor must have not had a big enough bucket on it. I wonder if they signed the waiver so that they would have to pay for the wrecker. They might have put down some of the form planks for the outriggers to get a better purchase and floatation on. They could have also used a deflating tire system, CTI. to get better floatation in the dirt.

    I run Heavy Wrecker in Texas and would like to really give my opinion on how the Operator could really help himself and equipment by raising his boom to about a 35-40 degrees. That puts a ton of down force on your truck, and will make it plant instead of pulling the truck back each time. Also, by raising the boom puts less line tension and force on your winches, it is extremely a lot safer to, in case the line snaps. The line would fly towards the top of the boom that is raised, instead of flying back towards operator with the boom lower as he did… Not trying to rag on anyone, or try starting anything. I just want to help give a little advice to try helping fellow brothers & want everyone to try being as safe as possible.

    Hope he gets that drum turning before sets up! Blew my hydraulic filter on mine about a month ago right as I was backing up to the pour and lost all my fluid! The mechanic didn't get there in time with the drum saver so all 10yds dried up in the drum!! Customer made me wait over 1.5hrs if not for that maybe it would have went out when I was at least empty

    Ready Mix trucks are always a challenge & are heavy like garbage trucks. Those cables weren't happy for awhile. Another thing that can help.... Dial up the down pressure on the Bridgemaster (the rear drop axle) drop it down providing rear lift (don't put truck in reverse as that will automatically raise it.... just neutral it'll stay down giving several thousand pounds of rear lift) then rig your pull over the top of the bridgemaster arms. Also have mixer driver stop the mixer & give 1/2 rotation to the "high side" having the mix inside crawl up the opposite side fins inside of the drum to lessen leaning. (the higher the slump (how wet the mix is) the less it'll stay... but ready mix would be getting stiff by the time they called for help & time it took to arrive, so a stiff slump would help to keep it in place. Still did a good job.

      I was delivering 8 cu.yds. to a farm machinery building floor (8 for24) out of 70 c.yd. total when farmer backed me over and then into a concealed abandoned septic tank. The drivers side rear fenders were even with the surface of the yard. After CAREFULLY Off loading concrete into a loader bucket, They had to back the winch truck up against a tree to FINALLY pull me out and to keep from pulling winch truck back to me. Got the truck out and drove back to plant without a much as a broken air line. MACK IS ONE TOUGH TRUCK.

    He should have walked the site first . First thing I would have asked where is the stone road for trucks going into the site. I’d have told the contractors no way am I driving in there on soft ground . I’d have rang my company sent on pictures and said no way can a truck drive in there and brought the load of cement somewhere else

      I am a trucker and I would not have drove in there on wet ground. Even if it was dry it would be a big risk. No point in turning over the truck and wrecking it and losing your job. In Ireland the machine digs a track in off the road and it is filled with stone all the way to the base for the house etc.
