I’m always grateful to see the fellow traveler who internalized “I’ve changed my mind so much I can’t even trust it, my mind changed me so much I can’t even trust myself”
Love Modest Mouse, one of the only bands that had songs i could actually relate to, and gives you stories and more. its not just trying to make hits, its just trying to be themselves no matter how weird they come off. So they will always be special to me
Doesn't really matter. But is this considered classic indy rock now? I was 16 listening in to MM in 1996. They are calling Built To Spill Classic Indy Rock. So is MM now?
you guys have got me through every hard time in my existence. never stop it. I love your music it speaks too me even if I'm sad and depressed. More so, it helps me if I'm sad or depressed.
I'm right there with ya mang. Might I suggest adding ween to your list of good feels music. Its helped me just like issac has. I love papa gene and dean them some good boys.
@@luz4030 Start with The Mollusk or Quebec, then Chocolate and Cheese after those. I also recommend finding the Live in Chicago video here on CZcams, which is what got me into them. Absolutely incredible band. Their country album is great fun too, and actually goes hard despite being parody!
This so epic. It's like Long Drive 2. The tracks and order are Well done. Thank you! I wish I could have a physical copy. These tracks highlight how incredible Isaac, Jeremiah, and Eric were as a 3 piece (4 piece with Dann Gallucci) Closing it out with Nothing New into an early outro that preceded Stars are Projectors.... WELL Got DAMN
I'm two months away from 28 and I discovered them in MLB 2K8 oddly enough. I've always had a taste for weird music so I was attracted to the zany vocals in Dashboard and I decided to dig deeper and listened to WWD then so on and so forth. I like all of their stuff, even the more popular mainstream stuff because even for radio friendly music it's still weird.
I’m 28, soon to be 29, and I also discovered Modest Mouse around that age. I think I was 10 or 11 when I first heard them. I still remember the first time hearing them. My then best friend’s dad played Black Cadillacs for us one day when he was grilling. He said he used to listen to them in college in the late 90’s/early 2000’s. Still one of my favorite bands to this day. Isaac’s lyrical abilities are hard to match. In my opinion he’s one of the greatest song writers of our time. He can say such profound things in such simple ways. That’s an incredibly hard skill to master. I hate to be “this guy”, but I still think their older shit is better than anything they’ve done in the last ~10 years. They became a little too pop-like for my tastes. Anything after Good News for People Who Love Bad News just sounds too polished to me. I love the lower fidelity sounding stuff. It just sounds so raw and has such depth of feeling. Dirty Fingernails is probably one of my favorite MM songs. That’s the kinda sound I like. Just angsty and real.

No band inspires weirder thoughts in my mind then modest mouse. And those thoughts have nothing to do with the music, it just some totally awesome reaction in my head to this band. 'You'll See' has become one of my new favorites. It changes, but only with bands with I truly love.

That's where I'm at right now, just a different substance. I don't know what Isaac was thinking by having two drummers all the way back in 05 or 06. All he needed was jeremiah green the drum machine and melt their shit the way it was. You couldn't pay me to see these guys bc their setlist blows. Only thing I could get thru is king rat and the way they blend dopamine and into that other banging track life like weeds. Watch, I bet their new shit is regenerated pop trash. It's just money now.
