    Good to see some more videos up, I hope to see some more sea fishing lure videos this coming year. Keep up the good work.

    That's a very nicely crafted video! I completely agree that copper and gold are most universal (but not the only effective) spinners out there. However, as a fellow trout fisherman I would think this set-up could be improved.
    First of all, because casting tiny lures is difficult, one should use longer, not shorter rods, imho. There are 7-8 feet long UL spinning rods out there. The longer the rod - the longer the cast.
    Speaking of longer casts, why not use No. 2 or 3 lures? I stopped using smaller than No. 1 fifteen years ago and barely use No 1 nowadays, mostly it's No. 3. And it's not only because of the shorter casts. More importantly, very small spinner is harder to work in higher depths, is too slow to sink for small streams, etc, imho. Also, larger spinner is better for larger brown trout, while smaller fish just don't care, they will still attack it. If anything, you will get (slightly) less really tiny ones hooked, which is a bonus, imho ;)
    Finally, I would use a clip with the swivell. Spinners will spin the line, and a swivel can help. Actually, I used to tie the lure directly to the line, but stopped doing this as, again, imho, trout (almost) do not care about the swivel and the clip above the lure.
    Just my two cents. Tight lines! :)

      Yeah I use 2 and 3s no problem even for 6 inch Brown's. You can put smaller hooks on if you want

    I'm fishing Llyn Crafnant in a couple of months, which is how I found your vids (thanks - enjoyable to watch) but never mind that - what a cracking Defender! (I've got a 110 Puma XS SW, but not half as well kitted as yours is!)

    I love using the spinners, especially bronze for Brown and Rainbow trout. Plugs seem to work better imho although, my biggest Brown trout of 7lb fell to a bronze sz 2 blue fox vibrax here in Northern Ireland.

      I think it depends on the water. If its super clear or deeper that 4ft or pressured I won't use spinners but on shallow streams with a bit or colour they do work well. Although so do plugs. Plugs are more fun that's for sure

    Really nice little video that mate! Subbed, just got into my ultra lite after years of lobbing round 80g lumps for pike! Never had so much fun since I got on my 0,1-7g spinning rod! Yet too have a trout tho.

    • @MrNWLF
      @MrNWLF  Před 8 lety +1

      +Rhys Watkins not really, hit or miss, had nothing on the fly, and only small browns, ok for ultra light lure fishing like I do, but not worth a day out there, hive it a couple of hours and that would be enough. I have a season ticket for Trawsfynydd, now that's where you need to be!
